this is the best roster prediction video I’ve seen. I don’t think it makes sense for Sakurai to cut the roster down to 20/30 characters after ultimate, so this scenario is very likely to happen! (I hope)
8:08 Unlike other Fire Emblem characters, Byleth and Daraen have a very different moveset. Byleth is a really fun character to play as.
Oh, and keep in mind that Sakurai is deciding who is included in the game. Fire Emblem is one of his favourite franchises, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more Fire Emblem characters in the next game.
(Edit : I’m surprised Cloud Strife isn’t in your roster. With the third and final part of the remake of this game combined with his popularity, I think he has to be there, even if Sephiroth isn’t with him.)
I feel the Warioware series totally deserves a character. Wario is representing not only mario, but also repping Warioland and Warioware all by himself. Heck, since smash ultimate has come out, there's been 3 separate Warioware games released. (Gold was released before ultimate, but it came out the same year so I'm counting it.)

Your roster is pretty realistic but has a little flaw almost every predicting roster has: It takes in consideration only the character that are already existing and not the ones that will exist in a year or so.
They could be new third party characters, new Nintendo IP protagonists or just new characters in already existing franchises.
I'd let at least four incognito slots for them.
Yeah, I've already included 3 slots dedicated for upcoming games (Metroid, Pokemon, Fire Emblem). Also I could possibly change the Xenoblade one as well. In terms of the 2 new IPs, that's bound to change to reflect upcoming games too.
Things that I hope happens for Smash 6:
All characters are updated to their most recent selves such as Showtime Peach, Tears of the Kingdom Link/Ganon/Zelda, replace Mega-Man with X, Ken and Ryu if they are in the next game etc.
Nitpicks: Lucario not having bone rush and constantly clipping into himself, a re-imagined Sonic, delete fire exblem clones or make them echos/skins, fix Yoshi's model because it looks weird as hecc. Especially his eyes, etc.
Most of all I just hope the game looks amazing, and has a decently cinematic story mode with fun interactions.
Ultimate look so washed out compared to WiiU Smash. I hope they take their sweet time making the game look gokd.
More representation of series's like Shadow, Silver, Eggman, Tails, Sigma [Mega-Man X], Zero, Tulin from Tears of the Kingdom, at least one starter pokemon from every gen, Ring Fit Adventure [Wii Fit Representative], etc.
I hope Bowser looks more like himself in the next game and he gets his voice, I hope Diddy and DK gets their voices too
Most of all I just don't want most things to be copy and paste.
Agree with Bandana Dee, Paper Mario, Akira and Crash. Definitely don't see Banjo, Wolf or even Sora getting cut tho, bayo and miis should be cut instead

Sora is definitely getting cut due to his connection to Disney but definitely agree with Banjo-Kazooie ever getting cut out considering they'll are really close to Nintendo (even though they are owned by Microsoft). Wolf shouldn't have been cut as well as he's Fox's rival in space combat and more variety is a good thing.

Very good roster though, I've done this too a couple months ago with some friends, it was fun, but man, I never realized just how hard it would be, especially when trying to think with a realistic mindset. It's nice to finally see someone try having a roster in between for once, since it's always either just, "Oh lets have half the roster", "Lets have less than half", or "Lets have an even bigger roster". Even if we don't know what the amount will be in the next game having that middle ground is nice. Your returning roster was also kind of similar to what we got, so I feel like a lot of people would accept a roster like this. Overall this is by far the best and most reasonable roster video I've seen.

When will you talk about the possible bosses, assist trophies and new gimmicks?
What if for example the next Smash Bros. will trah assist trophies as items and instead take a Famicon Fighters like approach with the helpers?
Like: You have a list a of helpers and you select four of them you can summon by the D-pad.
Of course with limitations, like: You can't summon more than one helper per match and you can only use them once per run, like they were bullets.

Personally I think this roster is quite good, although a bit big lol. one thing i feel though is that sonic fs deserves another rep like tails or eggman, hell i could even see both happening tho that’s unlikely. one of the third party returners would probably get cut imo

I really don't see Alear showing up. Engage was one of the worst selling 1st party games on the Switch and this year's Choose Your Legends event for the mobile game, many of the Engage cast didn't place well on this years ballot, still being largely swept by Three Houses and even Awakening casts overshadowing them. Not a single character even made top 5 and those polls are basically popularity contests.
It's the placeholder slot for a new FE character in general. Not specifically Alear. By the time this game comes out, I'm sure there would be at least one more FE game.
Yeah I think I’d much rather have Shez than Alear. I think there’s more potential for a fun rush down moveset with them too.
While I agree with this list, there is two characters I’d swap out for another, first I’d get rid of paper Mario, as I feel like I get wouldn’t replace a Mario for another Mario, as cool as he would be, and instead add another sonic character, as the fans have been desperately asking for. Second I’d remove pac-man, as, while popular, out of all the third parties is definitely the less played out of all of them (minus DLC), and add back Steve, since Steve is such a big hit people would probably get really mad if he wasn’t in the next game, probably with a rework to his moves

For third party, i know it’s really hard to cut any of them but there are some characters they just can’t go back on. Dragon Quest is honestly one of the most influential video game series of all time spawning the entire JRPG genre so Hero needs to stay, same with Sora who was confirmed to be THE most requested character for Smash Bros, so there’s no way he can be added after so long just to be cut the next game, regardless of how difficult it may be legally for him to return. I also think Banjo should return, despite mainly being for Western audiences but I still think is a character they can not go back on despite being irrelevant in modern gaming he was just requested for too long. Cloud is also an insanely iconic character and super influential to Smash. Snake and Sonic were the first third parties, yes, but Cloud burst the door wide open for more third parties being a character a huge symbol of Nintendo’s greatest competitor in the last 90s. Regardless of how the competitive scene sees him, Steve also needs to stay, he is literally from the best selling video game of all time and also depending on if this is a Sakurai game, he just really likes Minecraft so there’s a boost there. Also FE: Three Houses sold insanely well so Byleth would probably stay over Ike despite me loving Ike.

I think this is a fantastic roster! I think if anything were to be changed it would be 3rd party representation, but that’s definitely the most difficult to cut down in a roster like this. I do think Cloud, alongside Steve, or Hero would be kept over Snake and Kazuya though.
Cutting Steve and not adding at least one other Sonic character is wack. Steve is a gaming icon from the most successful game of all time while also representing the newer gen of gaming while Sonic… is sonic, nuf said.
I really doubt we'd get a new Sonic character. I think it was a miracle that we even got a new stage in SSB4, and some assist trophies tbf. Someone involved in the development team really hates that franchise for some reason, hell it might even be Sega themselves. But I would like to see a second character, if at least Shadow as an echo.

I don’t think that Nintendo would drop Final Fantasy
They will if they can’t get the rights from Square, and they’ve been pretty stingy about FF representation in Smash before, they only loosened up AFTER Ultimate became the bestselling fighting game ever.
Echoes aside, I could definitely see a few extra reps for the 3rd Parties. Tails and Shadow for Sonic, Zero and Protoman for MegaMan, Chun-Li for Street Fighter, Jin and Xiaoyu in Tekken, etc. I definitely feel extra reps from each series should be a standard.
I mostly agree with this list, though I would make some changes:
Ditch Rosalina, Rauru/New LoZ Rep over Impa, Wolf over Falco, Ditch Greninja (Pokemon Rep should be New, but not a Starter), Ditch Lukas, Byleth (or Corrin because I like Corrin) over Ike, Spring Man over Min Min, Ditch Haysbusa, Make Miis one Fighter with customization from all 3 old classes.
In the Spots of the 4 Fighters I ditched: Octoling, Master Chief/Doom Guy, Shovel Knight/Shantae, and Tails/Shadow/Dr Eggman
Honestly a good roster choice, but one thing is missing which is Steve but everything else is good 👍
0:13 - I would be shocked if this is the route they take. If the next device has backwards compatibility with Switch games this won't happen. Also, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe happened because it released on the failed Wii U, where Smash Ultimate released on the 3rd best selling platform of all time and was one of its best sold games on the successful platform. The only way Smash Ultimate Deluxe happens is if the decision making is on the same level of genius as the writers of She Hulk.
I agree but a lot of people think they'll do this, even in these comments. I would be pretty disappointed if they did that tbh
@@WumbleWasp The reason people think this will happen or want this to happen is because they don't want their character to get cut. As you probably know, this is silly. They can simply continue playing the game on Switch.
I personally want the next game to take advantage of the better hardware the next generation will bring. If all we get is a Deluxe version it will look a generation behind all the other games. Not sure why anyone would want this.
Also shrinking down the roster, like many have said before me, could modernize veteran characters to reference newer games and feel as fresh as newer characters.
Nintendo is known for being innovative so for them to kill two birds would not surprise me.
Rebooting the series would be them undoing a lot of the hard work they’ve put in so far.
So they could give us both Ultimate Deluxe and introduce new things like reworked kits for those who need em (Ganondorf, Young Link, Sonic, Samus, Donkey Kong, etc) and still allow players the option to use their old kits (maybe even allow for mixing moves from both kits together, that’s got Nintendo innovation all over it).
They could do a new story mode and whatever else they want to add. The sky’s the limit and whatever reboot ideas they have could be implemented into a Deluxe version of Ultimate to appease both sides of the aisle including themselves so as not to undo all their previous hard work.
@@felldoh9271 That's an interesting idea. It's a very Nintendo thing to do and if it were more feasible I'd like to see this approach. But there a few reasons I don't see this happening.
1) Again, if there is backwards compatibility a deluxe version becomes unnecessary. We would already have access to Smash Ultimate on the next platform, therefore making a deluxe port would be redundant. Backwards compatibility is far more likely this time around for three major reasons:
A) The Wii U had a disc drive making it hard to add backwards compatibility to the Switch with its tiny handheld design. It would have added costs and it would have made the Switch very clunky. The Switch has a game card slot, very easy to fit into the next platform. All that's needed is a notch at the top for newer games so they wouldn't fit in the old Switch.
B) There was a profit to be made with Wii U games. They were great games on a failed hardware. Not many people had a Wii U where the Switch was a massive success. For most people the Switch was their first time playing these Wii U games. This same strategy won't work on the next platform as a larger audience already experienced Switch games meaning less people will be enticed when the opportunity to buy these games again comes up. You'll have people like me who will save their money simply by keeping the original Switch with those games already playable.
C) Most importantly it would be foolish to leave a large userbase like Switch fans. Having backwards compatibility gives them incentive to buy the next platform knowing they can continue playing their extensive library on the next platform. By not having this feature, many Switch owners will be turned off immediately. Additionally many people online are already talking about how backwards compatibility is a must. I know Nintendo does what Nintendo wants, but to ignore this many people when transitioning to a new platform would be disastrous when making a first impression debuting a new device.
2) To make a deluxe version in the first place they would somehow need to secure the licensing rights to all these 3rd party characters again. This might be harder than making the game itself. Think about it. They would have to talk to Disney, Square Enix, Sega, Capcom, Microsoft/X-Box, Bandai Namco, Monolithsoft, Konami and probably many others I can't think of off the top of my head. Smash Ultimate was probably a one time deal with having this many characters from across this many franchises. Not to say they won't have returning fighters from 3rd party games and I expect to have new characters from other franchises that haven't been in Smash. But I would be shocked to see this many 3rd party reps in future games. Its actually mindboggling Smash Ultimate pulled off this feat in the first place.
3) On top of the effort of porting the game, you're suggesting new movesets for all the characters as well being able to switch between them on the fly before starting a battle. That's a lot of effort. See rebooting the series to give characters like Mario, Sonic, and Ganondorf among others that need a refresh is one thing. But to overhaul all 89 playable characters to give everyone two moveset options would be overkill. There wouldn't be any new characters added at that point until DLC as this feat alone would kill any team. I can't imagine how hard that task would be.
Assuming backwards compatibility is an option and I can't imagine it won't be. You won't need a Deluxe version. If you want to play as a character just boot up the old game on the new device and presto! You can play as that character again. But moving forward it would be good for the franchise to have this reboot. See, giving old characters new movesets that take inspiration from their later games would evolve the franchise. Also, I would like for them to continue improving the game's overall feel. Make the game run a bit faster. Make attacks tighter. Make it so side dodges can evade any attack if timed properly, and for the good of all smash players reduce the number of characters that use counter attacks, lol.
Edit: I was on a time crunch to finish this comment. To pick up where I left off in the paragraph above. A port means the old game physics are still in tact and I would like to see them make a new game instead that improves the overall feel of the game. No more delayed dodges or attacks when you land, shorter Smash attack charge-ups like older entries, smaller attacks that can be side dodged when timed correctly, counter attacks that have a shorter window making it more of a gamble trying to pull it off, and many other nitpicks (seriously I could go on all day with these). It would also mean the visuals would probably be the same too, but I'd rather the next Smash game to take advantage of the stronger hardware. Pushing more polys, better lighting effects, more particle effects, pushing the visuals beyond the Wii U/Switch graphics. See, the Switch had a pass being a handheld under the hood, but now even if the next device is a hybrid device and ends up being part handheld again, we expect a good bump in visuals. I'd like the next game to take advantage of that. But you don't get that with a port even with deluxe in its title.
1 (a-c) & 2: Thanks for reminding me about backwards compatibility, and I’m frustrated with myself for forgetting. As far as a Deluxe version goes, they probably have it in the original contracts for all third parties that they’ll return in Ultimate Deluxe, otherwise yes I could see them just updating Ultimate via paid dlc which no doubt most will gladly pay for (even if the dlc is more expensive than usual to recoup the potential loss of not selling a Deluxe version).
3: I am only suggesting new kits for a handful of reps, definitely not all fighters that would be insane haha. I like your ideas for improving gameplay, especially no counters haha (I think currently, the only fighters that deserve counters Ryu, Ken, and Sephiroth b/c theirs are kinda difficult to pull off and not overpowered). If they simply update Ultimate whether by backwards compatibility or a port, giving all fighters with counters new Down Specials is what they can do to remedy this problem.

Since you have Crash on the roster, you might as well bring back Banjo and Steve since they’re all owned by Microsoft who seem to be on pretty good terms with Nintendo right now.
Also I think Chun Li is fairly likely as a newcomer bc she’s so popular and we’re likely getting Ryu back. And Terry will likely return bc SNK were so generous for Ultimate.
Here's my returning roster:
Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Bowser Jr, Yoshi, Wario, Link, Zelda (from BOTW/TOTK), Ganondorf (from TOTK), Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Samus, Zero Suit Samus, Ridley, Kirby, Meta Knight, King Dedede, Fox, Falco, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Pokémon Trainer (but reworked), Lucario, Captain Falcon, Ness, Marth, Ike, Robin, Mr. Game & Watch, Pit, Palutena, Olimar, R.O.B, Villager (slightly reworked), Shulk, Sonic, Bayonetta, Inkling and the Miis (customizable characters are too funny to cut) that make an even 40 returning characters.
Some characters should get reworked/replaced by similar characters like replacing Sheik with young Impa from Age of Calamity, Pokemon Trainer reworked to the Legends Arceus trainer using Oshawott, Quilava and Decidueye and Wii Fit Trainer being replaced with the Ring Fit player character (I don't know if they have a name and they're pretty different so they're practically a newcomer anyway), Villager would get reworked to be more like New Leaf/New Horizons villager visually and maybe a moveset adjustment too.
As for newcomers, Bandana Waddle Dee or Magolor (Kirby hasn't gotten a new fighter since Brawl), a Xenoblade 3 character (there are a few that could work honestly), probably a new Fire Emblem character (let's be realistic here), a new pokémon and Dixie Kong (and probably a few others).
I could also see Mega Man and maybe Pyra & Mythra and Min Min sticking around tbh as Mega Man has a fair bit of history with Nintendo and generally fits well and Xenoblade is honestly pretty popular and ARMS/Min Min is unique enough to justify keeping around.
People love the idea of Ring Fit replacing Wii Fit even though it robs people of those two facing off which is part of Smash’s reason for existing.
Great prediction! But I do not think Cloud or Sora would be cut since they were such a big deal! Sephiroth would most likely return as well and we might even get more Square Enix characters! Let’s just hope they keep porting Ultimate! Like how they continued Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!

Rascal (Rollin' Rascal) (this game is only a demo so far but iI feel like he would suit being in smash bros, as much as a stretch it would be).

This was a really good video and I liked your ideas, but I think you specifically undermined Metroid and Animal Crossing. Dread and even more so New Horizons did spectacular numbers (New Horizons is like the 3rd best selling game on the switch). I kinda feel like both are deserved of new reps.
Also I’m leaning towards Pauline, Waluigi, and Geno as the most likely new Mario reps. Paper Mario TTYD is my favorite game of all time, but I just don’t see Paper Mario happening especially over characters who aren’t in Smash yet. Paper Mario is technically Mario, who is in Smash.
Zelda also is more than deserving of at least 5 or 6 reps. It’s in desperate need.
Lastly Alear will probably be outdated by the time the next Smash comes along. Plus Awakening, Fates, and Three Houses were more popular than Engage, so I don’t see them pulling from that game unless Fire Emblem gets put on a long break, but I doubt it as Engage was finished during the pandemic.

Disagreements though:
Yoshi (iconic but not iconic enough to be such a mainstay, plus his moveset's kind of boring)
Jigglypuff (same but less iconic)
BJR (cool character but I think he overlaps with Robotnik too much and I want him, also cutting down on represented series leaves more room for more variation)
RosaLuma (Puppeting is a cool idea but I'd rather see it with Kangaskhan. Maybe give her a skin on Peach.)
Falco (give him and wolf 2 fox skins each, like Olimar/Alph, BJR/Koopalings, or Steve/Alex/Enderman/Zombie)
Mewtwo/Lucario (I know they're both iconic but they're also too similar to keep both IMO)
Captain Falcon (F-zero has been dead long enough for archeology by now, and I think constantly cycling new characters would be better than keeping characters just because they've been kept so far. Give him a skin on our decloned Ganondorf though just to pay tribute to his ancestors)

Ice Climbers (old, unnotable game. Retro reps are good, and so are oddball picks, but make them different to celebrate more titles)
Mr. G&W, ROB (same but more notable)
Palutena (Keeping Pit is fine but I think if there's going to be more Kid Icarus than just the Kid, it should be more varied. Viridi has the personality so that's my suggestion)
Isabelle (she feels too similar to keep both her and Villager, maybe give her an alt on Villager alongside K.K and Tom Nook)
Duck Hunt (Same as Mr. G&W but even more notable. Also why would I want to kick a puppy?)
Ryu Hayabusa, Akira Howard (I think since there's already a Ryu (fighter slot, more iconic) and an Akira (assist trophy, more iconic) they wouldn't want the naming confusion)
Crash Bandicoot (Obviously a gaming icon but I don't see any moveset potential, especially with how quickly you glossed over him.)
Steve (Too iconic, he'd ideally stay even if they shrunk the roster back to Melee sizes.)
Daisy (Definitely declone, I'd give Daisy the Sports/Olympic moves and Waluigi the Kart/Party moves. Maybe Waluigi could still fence with his rose though.)
Joker (Persona's important enough for a rep and Joker's the most recent protagonist. Maybe a different protagonist but that doesn't sound as good for marketing.)
Sora (Unlikely, but breathe enough copium and it's sure to be true. If he can be there, he should be there.)
Tbh I think the other echoes should just be different models as the alts. Like half Simon/half Richter, same for Samus/Dark and Ryu/Ken. Don't think that could work with Mewtwo and Lucario though, particularly because of the disparity in up B, Aura, and stats. Also since they cut so many cool characters I think they should return as assist trophies.
Jigglypuff Final Smash or just sing. Or maybe she's the new goldeen and she just deflates and flies away when you get her, that would be funny.
Yoshi neutral B (could be egg throw but that's too close to hammer bro)
Ice Climbers using spin to win (their signature abilities, grabbing or freezing, both feel far too annoying).
Palutena teleporting and using the aimbot special (I haven't played her enough to remember which move that is)
Duck Hunt using smash attacks and down B
Mewtwo if they're not playable could neutral B, side B, or use a mega form like in his final smash.
Lucario if he's not playable could replace Zoroark's pokeball, or do a mega evolve final smash, or do something new, like double team where you had to hit the right clone before he hit you with the Zoroark combo.
I loved how serious you were about this, you weren't just picking your favourites but actually finding reasons for who to cut and why, and who to keep and why. I'd rather not add more picks to replace my complaint spots but I will say that I want as much variation in both franchise and moveset as possible. I think it would give more incentive for both Nintendo to make sequels (updating based on the times) and consumers to buy them (this one's got all these new, special characters!) The downside being if Ultimate 2 ever happened it would be a nightmare for the devs.

If we're cutting down the roster, we want all the remaining characters to bring something to the table and Yoshi doesn't really have that. He could be a keep, but I don't think he does anything unique enough to stay.
I think this is very slightly unrealistic overall, specifically in the sense there are no echoes or characters that borrow heavily from others
I don't think they would cut Sora, Steve, and Banjo a lot of people have wanted those characters in the game for a long time and cutting them would feel like a punch in the gut

reasonable enough although I disagree with some of it (like lucas staying over someone else in this hypothetical situation makes no sense, sorry) but as someone who plays piranha plant, he is not a bad character. he's fun to play as, and IMO a fighting game roster is boring without at least one silly unexpected character, even if its not piranha plant! it adds good variety and is fun.

I like your roster a lot, personally I’d drop Min Min and Snake but that’s about it. Snake is a weird one where I doubt we’d get him again due to the bad blood of Kojima and Konami, it was a miracle we even got him in Ultimate. And Min Min and the Arms series was dead before Min Min was even included in Smash so I don’t see a reason to bring her back, also the bias of just not liking how she plays and just seeing her as unfun doesn’t help. I’d swap out Snake for Banjo since I feel like he’d make for an easier mainstay and Min Min with maybe Chibi Robo. I could also see Lucas getting the axe but that’s less so than the other 2

I personally wouldn't be upset with an Ultimate Deluxe. As much as I wanna see Smash turn into MUGEN, I understand why it'd be better for the next game to be new.
That being said, I also think a new game with revamped movesets is a multifaceted challenge. I don't think a new game could be justified just by giving old characters new moves. There's been outcry towards games like Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite and Nick All-Stars 2 for making insane roster cuts, even if their returning characters were reworked. But if reworked movesets were to be an aspect for this next game, who I'd bring back would change compared to a more traditional Smash game that uses the previous game's framework. I'd prioritize characters they could do something new with.
Lastly, this got me to think about the number of character slots. Sakurai said in a TH-cam video that the reason Ultimate happened was because they used the same team and logic as Smash 4. That team at Bandai Namco formed a studio that exclusively works on first-party Nintendo games. I wouldn't be surprised if they're working on the next Smash game right now. Assuming they come back, I can easily see the character count be as high as Ultimate's 82 unique Fighters (or more) with DLC. I think Nintendo is keenly aware how disappointed fans would be if the roster was cut down to below Ultimate's base game, plus they see it as a business opportunity to collaborate with more companies.
The only way I can see the roster count dip below 60 is if they completely build the game from scratch like they did from Melee > Brawl > Smash 4, but I doubt that'll happen now that this studio is set in place.

I think your roster selection is fine, but the one change I'd make is to replace any character with Geno. He's always been in the same boat as Ridley & King K. Rool, and with the Mario RPG remake there's now a good reason to put him in the game as a Fighter.

I personally disagree. Konami was pretty friendly with Nintendo with SSBU, 2 characters added, a stage, boss, heaps of music remixes + spirits.
Besides Snake because he's the best smash character, and Kazuya because of the developer of the game, I chose the 3rd parties solely based on their 'closeness' with Nintendo. So I feel like Bayonetta and Simon really should stay. Cutting Snake instead in favour of Banjo would be better. I'd probably leave Steve out entirely though.

I guess, though it depends on your perspective. Wii U (w/ 3DS) is collectively refered to as 4, and Ultimate 5 - as in if you search up Smash 5 on google it will come up with Ultimate not SSB4. It doesn't really really matter too much though.
Sakurai confirmed on one of his TH-cam videos that Smash 3DS/Wii U are both smash 4.

I hope Nintendo cuts Wii Fit Trainer. She shouldn’t have been a fighter, who out of all people asked for her to join Smash? And one fighter choice of mine would be Spider-Man (even if Marvel disagrees). And screw you for cutting Banjo and Kazooie and Sora, a lot of fans were waiting for them as a fighter.
The third parties I chose were ones that wouldn't suffer any licensing issues. I'm sure Banjo would be mostly fine, but even then I feel like I included twice as many 3rd parties than I should have as is. Coming from someone who loves Banjo and especially KH.

Brawl and 4 cut characters. The fact that Ultimate didn't was the whole selling point of it. It's unsustainable to have a roster size of Ultimate for the following games (unless it is a remaster), and even then, there's probably licensing issues with a lot of the third party inclusions.
@@WumbleWasp But Brawl and 4 added even more. Yeah, maybe they'll cut a few, mostly because of licensing with third parties, but I don't see why they could not reach near to a 100 characters if they decide to go the remastered way.

He could always backtrack from that, but I don't see why that's a good thing anyway tbh. I'd rather the series revist its roots, improve its movesets, new engine etc. Than focus solely on new characters and building upon Ultimate.

Bowser Jr would not be missed he's the same as piranha plant. He has no moveset. Those are all various bowser and kooperlings moves given to him.
Bandana Waddle Dee is dumb, I rather have a Waddle Doo. it looks cooler, and isn't plain like a waddle dee. Even a plain Kirby can fight and swallow, spit, etc. Waddle dees are nothing without a cap. A Waddle doo can also put on that cap and do the same things. If the cap is knocked off, its still a waddle doo with various electric attacks. However, the bandwagon is strong for waddle dee to be a playable character so Nintendo most likely won't ignore that lame suggestion.
But you see, Bandana waddle dee is a specific playable character, with his own moveset, and has importance to the modern Kirby games. It's not just the general Waddle Dee species.

imho, I think it's reasonable to cut ROB, Palutena and Ice climbers (+Snake)(+Jigglypuff).
Also, I think an another Sonic character is long overdue. The popularity of Tails and Shadow is close to many Mario and Pokémon characters, and don't feel out of place in a fighting game.

You've got some... interesting takes here as well as a few things just straight up wrong. Noah isn't the sole protagonist, Three Houses is the most popular FE of all time, and Splatoon absolutely deserves a second rep.
Frankly speaking this is the most boring predictable lineup I've ever seen. And yet... I have to give you props on the editing. This video looked and sounded really good, even if I heavily disagree with your lineup.
I'm not too familiar with XC3, I'm aware that Mio is also a protagonist, but maybe I should have just left that slot as "Xenoblade Fighter" instead of a specific character.
Without spoiling anything, the two of them basically share equal billing; in fact, the entire party in the game is sperated into pairs, which ties into one of the game's core themes; to have one without the other just feels wrong.@@WumbleWasp

Animal Crossing and Splatoon being treated like these nothing franchises that don't warrant more content when they've had the most astronomical growth of any Nintendo IP during the switch era makes absolutely no sense. Your own lack of imagination is no excuse for leaving out Tom Nook and Octoling at least (though given Splatoon's growth from being brand new on the Wii U to being huge on the Switch it probably warrants a third rep too, I'd say Big Man personally).
This is more of a safe roster prediction video. I've gone into more detail of more specific newcomers in the first video (including splatoon) and even then I only scratched the surface. For this video in particular, I barely included any newcomers at all. Let alone clones.
Of the established franchises I gave new characters to, that includes:
Mario, Pokemon and Fire Emblem which are obvious. Xenoblade which is an action RPG with a huge cast of very popular suitable characters. Metroid arguably.
And Zelda and Kirby which are just as currently popular and revelant as both Splatoon and Animal Crossing (if not more for Zelda..) but haven't recieved new characters since at least Brawl. Compared to Splatoon/Animal Crossing which has gotten new characters in.. the latest entry.
It's just a matter of prioritising differnet series over others, and I do stand by thinking that all of those above franchises are more deserving than anyone from Animal Crossing and Splatoon anyway..
