    Seinfeld is a tough show to watch clips without having seen at least the rest of the episode, and you really need the context of watching the series to get some of the humor. It's why a lot of people don't find it funny because it's not the kind of show you can just sit down and watch a random episode.

      @@plnkfloydian7814most of the show was in front of a live audience. The scenes they couldn’t film in front of an audience they used a laugh track. So if it looks like it’s on a set, it’s in front of a live audience and the laughs are genuine.

    • @blanketstarry7725
      @blanketstarry7725 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eliwoods5583 Even in front of the live audience, they utilized a laugh track to help out...but that was for good reason. If you watch any of the bloopers from Seinfeld, you can see that they did the scenes over and over and over because they just cracked up so many times. The audience will laugh much more enthusiastically after the first viewing of a bit than after the 20th time. They just wanted to keep the spontaneity of hearing the jokes for the first time.

    The sweater being thrown in George's face is funny because earlier in that episode he got a fantastic deal on a Cashmere sweater with one caveat...it had a small red dot on it. Elaine eventually noticed, and IIRC gave it back, and George gave it to the cleaning lady as a Christmas present with her gushing over how she's never had anything nice like that, so she must have noticed the dot, lol.

    No one ever explains the clip for number 24 properly and context is everything. This is the Kenny Rogers Chicken episode where the restaurant opened up across the street from their apartment. The sign from the restaurant was shining directly into Kramer's apartment so he was threatening to get them shut down. Since Jerry loved the food in the restaurant he agreed to switch apartments with Kramer. This led to Jerry and Kramer basically switching personalities where Jerry took on Kramer's manic tendencies and Kramer became the voice of reason in the friend group.

    • @pyritepirate4835
      @pyritepirate4835 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Jerry didn't love the food; he wanted the restaurant to remain open because his friend was the manager there. It's Kramer who got hooked on the chicken and then fought to keep the restaurant open after he and Jerry switched back to their own apartments.

    I know I’m very late here but I worked in management for a car rental company and they legitimately will not let management put a “sold out” option on cars they expect us to “find” cars for reservations. They make deals with body repair shops that say any of their customers are entitled to a rental as soon as they bring their car in to be fixed. They will just spring one on you and if I’ve got 7 cars in my lot for 7 reservations I am not allowed to say no to the new body shop customer. Now I have to find an 8th car either at another car rental location or tell someone no. Brutal and stupid. But that might answer that question

    Seinfeld doesn't work too well as a clip show as it's purely character driven. However, it's always nice to see someone get a taste of it. Seinfeld was the most financially successful sitcom ever created up until a few years ago. I'm not sure whether Friends surpassed it yet but Seinfeld has earned close to 4 billion dollars since it's gone off air, from syndication & merchandise. That's not counting the money it made while on air. There's an unending & unnecessary debate over whether Friends or Seinfeld is better, I enjoy them both but I lean more towars Seinfeld, the humor is more intricate, more sarcastic & layered. There's actually been issues with translating Seinfeld because of the sarcasm & snarkiness. Seinfeld still holds the ranking as the 4th most watched series finale in US history with 76.3 million live viewers. M.A.S.H, 105 million live viewers, & Cheers, 80.4 million, placing 1st & 2nd. The only two comedies to beat Seinfeld, the third most watched finale was a crime drama named The Fugitive with 78 million. The Fugitive was turned into a movie with Harrison Ford decades after the show ended. Sorry, rambling, stuck in a waiting room. Thanks for the distraction.

Wake up hour before getting ready with plenty of time for car to get here. For next 50 minutes they moved 3 blocks, ignore my text and told me I was too far. What was point of reservation and paying if they couldn't make it. I was furious and they made me cancel so they could still get paid. I tried to find quick ride asap and got the same driver except this time they charged 4x times as much. It was one of rare times I called customer service to get a refund and report the driver. You can't take clips out of context with Seinfeld. There are at least 2 and sometimes 3 storylines going in the same episode and gags will stretch from one show over several, resulting in many things being like "inside jokes". The show was a masterful blend of complex, smart humor and slapstick. Seeing snips out of context isn't funny.

    This show is an acquired taste. For years, I just wasn’t interested. I think it was a clip of the Festivus episode that really got me into it. Now, I own all 9 seasons and revisit frequently.
    Elaine is Jerry’s ex.
    I agree with others who have commented on the difficulty of watching this, anything really, without knowing the context. Like Blackadder, I wouldn’t recommend watching Season 1.
    Actually, if anyone was perhaps considering getting into the show, I would advise not to watch these clips. You’re robbing yourself of the punchlines and experiences.
