    Hi Naresh, thanks for all the BO videos. I also wanted to check if this Firepass sap network you use is a cloud based instance, that I can get from SAP, because I wanted a sandbox type instance of BO at home with all the client tools where I could practice. Thanks.

      unfortunately no, your best bet is to spin up a google or azure server on the cloud and install BOBJ .

      The client tools can be installed on your local machine.
      Hope that helps !!

    That's great Naresh. One more request. Can you also post some videos on applying object level and report level security. Thanks.

    Hello Satish,
    The one that I have done a demo on here is talking of security application when you are going against a relational database. In your case I am assuming you are going against a cube or is it a bex or so directly ? The same may not apply in ur case and I would think (as you said already) that the security should carry over. But would not be sure as I have not tried that out. Would be great if you could let me know what you find out.
    Thanks,
    Naresh

    Hi Naresh, Great video. Guess I am commenting so late as this is posted few years ago still hoping to be answered. *Why at all do we need data security profile options (AND, OR, ANDOR)? *What purpose does these Business security profile options solve ?*During the video where did this SQL editor got opened. Can we see the query generated in our data security? If yes then where?Thanks and Regards,Alankar

    i'm assuming this holds true only in a relational / OLTP environment, correct? It wouldn't be possible to implement this with OLAP universe built from infocube/multiprovider.
    Please let me know if i'm wrong...

    Hi Naresh. Thank you for the valuable information. I succeeded to create and implement security profiles according to your instructions. I still have one question: if you don't add a user to any of the user groups referred to the security profiles, the user still is enabled to see all the data. Is there a way to deny all the data per default unless the user belongs to one or more user groups above?

    • @NareshGanatra
      @NareshGanatra  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Paulo Gottlib glad that it helped. you are now talking of user level information -:) so would have to be based on each user. Though in this too you could create one group where you by default add all users until they are added to one of the security groups. that one group by default would have full restriction and users would not see any data. But to answer your question, this will not do it by default. I believe there are no other options (pardon me if I am not remembering well as I am not actively using Business Objects any more)

    @NareshGanatra  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are right, for them I beleive you would have to set it up the security on the BW side of the implementation.

    Thanks for the feedback TeeCeezz. For the videos that have the mouse pointer missing I am trying to put in TH-cam annotations showing where the mousing is being clicked, not for every step but for the ones that may not be obvious.
    These are the older videos and the newer ones will have the mouse pointer showing up properly.

    Naresh

    Hello Bhaskar,
    Not sure if I understand your question.
    Can you provide more details, if its something quick I can let you know my thoughts.
    Also, it involves more details I also recommend putting your question up on SCN or BOB (if you have not done so already).
    Regards,
    Naresh

    Hi Naresh,Thank you fr video,I have one doubt suppose if we have more users with different groups on that scenarios how to apply row level security.

    • @NareshGanatra
      @NareshGanatra  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Venkata,
      Have you checked the last couple of minutes in the demo and see if that is what you are talking of...so if you have a user with AMER and EMEA user group then you want to apply them as OR clause and not AND
      Hope that helps !
      Regards,
      Naresh

    Thanks for the Security related info.
    But need help to apply security based on user roles. Currently we are applying security on folder level using conditional objects,
    this makes user reports worse, because it's taking long time to run report after applying this security. Here i need to refer more tables and union operator and also we are using derived table for referring user roles. But I think
    there should be a better way to work on this.
    Any help here please.
    Thanks,

    Hello Naresh,
    This was very informative for me. But I have this doubt from the beginning. For Example In CMC we create a group for america region and assign the user to it. In Security editor we create a data profile for America and give the region id as 2 and mp the america region that we created in the previous step. But when we are running the query how does this region_id='2' come into picture? When a user logs in from BI Launchpad and opens that universe his id is checked in CMC to which part he belongs, but how does that condition come into query by default?

    • @NareshGanatra
      @NareshGanatra  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      have you checked the entire video ? if I recollect it I have mentioned all the details were you create the data security profile and assign in the information design tool for the universe

    • @devilangel036
      @devilangel036 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Naresh my doubt was how the Id s getting into the query. I understood all the steps except this

    • @NareshGanatra
      @NareshGanatra  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      basically the security data profile is added to a user group and any user in that group wll have that secrity forced on him or her.....hope that helps
