    1. It is the new tool for creating the universe starting 4.0, universe designer is also available for now but would face out eventually. It has most of the features from Universe designer plus some new features, one of them being..Data Federation (multi source universe)
    2. For Edge I think you would need server OS.

    Naresh

    Hi Naresh.
    As I am completely new so apologies in advance if sound silly.
    I have visited some documents about SAP BI. As suggested by many i see there is GUI or may be netweaver GUI needed to create Infoobject however that seems to be missing from my system. I only have Designer and Universe builder installed in my system(BO XI 3.1 Client tool ) along with access to web based tool Infoview
    is it something related to server/client version ?
    How do i get other tools which i see in other tutorials.

    Hello Karthik,
    Somehow missed your note.
    Thanks for comments.
    For the ODBC connectivity it depends on which database.
    For some databases you could do either ODBC or native connectivity.
    So yes connection is necessary but need not be ODBC depending on the db.
    Hope that helps !

    Naresh

    Good explanation, as per the process normally we create data foundation on .cns connection and there after but you have created locally on the right click on project and create data foundation. May be its due to we dont want to put more pressure on server side.

    • @NareshGanatra
      @NareshGanatra  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s been so long so don’t remember much -:) but if memory serves me right I used to create it locally as I did not see a need to depend on the server during the initial designing

    Very nice explanation. Now that the report can be opened in WEBI Rich Client. Is it possible to get the universe path corresponding to that report from Rich client itself? To be precise can we get where the universe details, where the report is actually stored on the server just by looking at the report?

      We can just export only that universe related objects in the report panel in rich client, there is no such option like that in rich client side i think. But if it will be there then its great.

    • @PavanKumarbangale
      @PavanKumarbangale 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pravallikaaddanki5038 Yes, there is away to do that. Edit the report--> Go to Data access tab and click on EDIT button. You will find the universe that is being used for generating that particular report.

    First of all nice Demo, you did a great job. I'm still using BO 3.1 so I have some questions:
    1) Is Information Design Tool meant to substitute Universe Designer?
    2) Information Design Tool seems to enable me to create a Universe from different databases(connections), correct?
    I also have noticed the Rich client is somewhat different from the BO 3.1 one :)
