Just for anyone who cares, some information. If your refrigerator in your RV doesn’t work, one free fix to try is take it out, turn it on the top and let it set at least 24 hours. Turn it back upright and try it. Since this type of fridge use an ammonia, hydrogen, H2O mix, sometimes the liquid separates, especially is it has been sitting for any length of time. Turning it upside down mixes the refrigerant again and allows it to work again. Most places do not even mess with recharging, they send it to the factory. This type of unit has no compressor, and can’t have any copper touch ammonia, but if kept clean, can work for quite a while. My old RV is a 1976 and the fridge works great. Hope this can help someone. Smiles!
One thing I can say I learned since living in our 5th wheel is Ive become creative on fitting things in different places and finding ways around things like I use a cutting board to slide over my sink. I really think since living in a camper ive come to realize you dont need half the crap you think you do living in a house. And thats why we have decided to build a tiny home verses a big home.. BTW, I like watching your videos. You are very helpful so thank you..
Just feeling like going back and watching some of your old videos. I have watched several before now but in the light of yesterdays news it just feels right today. Love you and thinking about you and hoping you know how much you are cared about by many of us.
I saw a girl stuff throws and toss pillows in the food cabinets to keep things from shuffling around. She also did it in the bedroom cabinets where she had a lot of loose items. You did a great job with the RV decor. Capone seems to enjoy his space too! Thanks for sharing!
👍 Love hearing Bob's chuckle in the background from the "CheapRVliving" TH-cam channel. Awesome that he helped you film a tour of your rig! Safe & happy travels :)
I love the color u picked for your walls. Really really like that color. You have done a great job with your new RV. I really like it. Hope you have wonderful travels in your new home. You did good girl.
Just a suggestion: When you are getting ready to move locations, fold some of your smaller blankets up and put inside your cupboards, helps to keep things in place while on the go. Truly enjoy your videos and life choice.
Geez can't believe I didn't think of that. What a great suggestion! thank you!!! And I think I just took almost all of them to Goodwill yesterday. lol!
I really like the paint color she chose. I've been a full-time living in RV's for over 25 years. I gave up everything and moved into a 1976 Chevrolet Sierra 28 ft class A. It was basically one big room. The bed was over the front seats living area, kitchen and full bath in the back including a tub. I paid $6k cash for it. And at the time was a really good deal. After living in that one for about 5-6 years I upgraded to a Gulf Stream Sun Stream Hi Rise 36ft class A. I've also updated the interior with new paint, fabrics, endless hot water heater, new faucets, etc. It's a great side isle model. I tore up all the carpet. In the living area and kitchen I I put in hardwood floors. In the bathroom and the bedroom I put in ceramic tile floors. Easier to keep clean than carpet. I live in LA only 11 miles from downtown. A studio apartment rents for $1,200 per month. I live in a small trailer park and I'm lease locked at $565 per month and that includes water, electric, trash, and gardener. I have a removable 25 gallon propane tank so I don't move the coach to fill it. One tank will last 3-4 months. Only the stove, seldom used furnace, and water heater use propane. I'm hopeful I can upgrade again in the next 5-7 years. But if not I will just update this one again. I recomend the RV lifestyle to anyone that has the desire. However, if you've never done it before. I don't recommend buying a new RV with payments on it. That way if you hate it you won't be trying to sell an RV you might not get the amount you need. Instead buy an older model that's in good running condition and a solid body. You don't care about the color you can change all of that. Get something you can pay cash for. Go from there then after awhile upgrade later. That's what I did. Hopefully this information helps someone! Happy travels! Brian
Thanks for sharing a tour of your RV. If I get a RV it will definitely be a small class C, 21-22 ft max. Like you said it's much easier getting around with a small RV and for one person you don't need a ton of space. Best of luck on your travels!
Been watching you and Bob for the last few days. This is the dream, what I've lived to do since I was a kid, you both have showed me so many ways to make this a reality and my husband and I are more inspired than ever. I love your videos, you are so helpful, with so much honest info. The stuff we really need to know to make this happen.. I can't thank you enough. A new subscriber.
Great camera work! Thanks so much for sharing! As a newby, your commentary is really helpful. I also wanted smaller than the 26' I bought, but they're hard to find in MI. It is nice to have a bed all set up and cargo space. I like the way you painted and made things lighter.
Thank you! Very cozy. I throw pillows in my cabinets when we travel. I love this lifestyle. Could never live in a land house again. Love these videos. Love Bob's also. Safe travels.
Great videos Carolyn. Great filming Bob. Love the kitchen. I was just thinking of something else you might love in it (unless you already have one of course). I've been learning to cook more and more in my pressure cooker from other youtubers. It's been great for soups, veggies, rice etc. and in a fraction of the time it used to take. The one pot does so much, and I was thinking it could make your propane last longer too.
Thank you for the tour. I would love to live this life style also, but life and family needs us to stay put at the time being. I love your color choices for your remodel. I am a new follower of yours, keep making videos and I'll keep watching. Safe travels :)
I love your makeover of the living room!! I swear between the before and after photos it seems to have grown in openness by a foot or two. Especially the view looking forward. Thanks for inviting us in!! Safe travels!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your home. I truly would love to live in it but it's too much for me. I'm not up to driving such a rig anymore. I need small. I'm looking at a Chevy blazer. I just have to figure out how the back seat comes out and how to effectively cover the windows when necessary. I like having them open. But also don't want my bed out there for the world to see either. It's a challenge and trade off.
Enjoyed the tour of your rig Carolyn. I'm saving up to get a bus of my own to be a full-time gypsy too and love seeing how other people do it and learning as much as I can. I really love the honesty in your videos. And good on you for being vegan! :)
You are so inspiring to us who wish can live freely but can't. Your a free spirit who loves the world around her and respects Gods wonders. I live in a hectic world were everyone is always in a rush and don't bother to look at the small and remarkable miracles all around, I always have felt like a fish out of water here in New York City . I'm one who finds herself finding remarkable old turn of the century homes and buildings and I'm fascinated I will go and research its origins and its historical history , that includes nature as well but everyone here is only interested in work work work money money money fashion and spending I'm so over it that I feel like I need to escape. But life career , and family of my own gives a pause to dreams and aspirations I commend you and wish you all the luck in the world, I will continue to watch your videos so please keep them going hope you read my message and I'm sending Gods protection and blessings over you . Oh and before I forget please don't ever open any doors to no one especially at night please take care of yourself always. I would have never opened the door to that old mean lady God Bless you always
Lillian- I can understand and relate to so much of what you said. That is exactly how I felt in the San Francisco area (and Silicon Valley). Like you, I'm curious and love history and don't just look at a building or a mountain, but I want to 'see' it, know it's history and origins. You have a nomadic and free spirited heart! I hope you find a way to chase our wildest dreams. You're younger than me.. I did all of the stuff you're doing (except maybe children..?), so who knows what the future holds for you. Just keep evolving and never stop dreaming. And your line about the old lady made me giggle. Thank you for the heartfelt comment. I appreciate it and thank you for joining me on my journey! - Carolyn
Lillian Cruz that's so true!! I would NEVER HAVE OPENED MY DOOR TO THAT OLD LADY EITHER!!! She would've got cussed out probly!! Lol.... and DEFINITELY WOULDNT HAVE MOVED?!! 😂 lol.... I'm a single mom with 5 yr old son myself and we still need to dream and take our kids with us to enjoy nature get outta the cities!! I live in Vegas and HATE IT!! Wish I could just get up and go!! Love to you all be safe and God bless & Protect you!!🙏🏼♥️✌🏼
Carolyn, you are now my official tutor for RV living which I'm planning to do next year. I have details to work out before committing but I am getting so exciting at the notion downsizing and a moving home. Books, are so hard to get rid of! I started taking notes from various videos I've watched of do's and dont's, things to have (duck tape, emergency funds..) and mistakes others have shared. I plan to get a Class C as well not sure of size. Thanks for being so open and sharing, Capone is adorable. I have a pack that will be coming with me as well. Love it!
yay!!! I am thrilled to read that you're going to start downsizing!! good for you. I wish you tons of luck and happiness on your new phase!! thank you very much for watching!
I just got my van a week ago and I will be slowly building it. I've only been vegan for 6 months and I know there is going to be a bigger challenge when I'm ready to hit the road. You should share some of the thing you cook.
im living this dream of mine vicariously thru u and capone. im ill and basically bedridden but i love watching and wishing it could be me and my service dog. Keep up the life and be safe guys. u make my day watching u have fun. thanks.
Thanks for another great video! My story is close to yours except I made one more move between the 700 sf apartment to the rv which was living in my oldest daughters guest room. Either you are really short or your rv has a really high ceiling. I know the c's are taller than my b+ but I'm only 5' 6" and only have about 8" above my head. The blue looks great I really like it. If we ever cross paths I would be willing to pull your furnace and take a look at it. You need to up your batteries. I have 2 125 amp hour and can run my furnace over night with no problem but my rv is fiberglass and with the windows covered I really feel no drafts. Be safe in Slab city!
You are an inspiration to all of us! Planning in my head this will be me in the 3 to 6 months if all works out. I liked your video and your DIY decorating and ideas. I like how your just a live-in in Capone's house, pets own everything. Your video showed me that maybe I don't need a full Fifth Wheel to be free, maybe I will investigate a smaller RV. How do you get bandwidth when boondocking? What are you doing for work?
Love love love what you've done with your place! Thanks for sharing. I don't think I've seen a video by Bob without his voice. You did very well together.
hI CAROL I just purchased a Tiogia 29 ft RV just like yours, Ford 450 engine. You have been an inspiration to me on taking on my #1 thing to do on my bucket list. I am 60 years old and ready to live a traveling life style. I plan to go full time next year around June. Thank again. I hope we will continue to talk. I need to learn so much. Thanks for sharing with us.
Thank you soooo much for sharing your RV life. I'm older than you by a bit, (73), but my life philosophy parallels yours a lot. I recently bought a Class B with what money I had in my pocket. Did NOT want a "loan" The class B has all the room I need and on a "shakedown" type tour out to Quartzite and Sedona, I found that I seldom even unpacked what I had in the van. And.....I had a wonderful time! So thank you....and I may see you somewhere down the road. Bob Wood, California.
I physically raised my hand when you asked. how many of you wear readers, and how many of you have a tons of them.lol... Love the RV home. Thanks for sharing. im inspired when i watch your videos. I am working on making my RV dream a reality by May 2018 (47th birthday month)God willing. I am torn between building my own van conversion or buying a wide body van. preferably a pleasure way. The number one thing i hear RV'rs saying is they wish they started with a smaller RV. I am learning from you all about what size to start with. I want to be able to be stealth. I will be working for the next 6 years at my current job. so i want to be able to park it at work. trying to get that Retirement in there. But i have been itching to quit after i purchase my RV. Ya never know. we may be RV neighbors one of these days. keep on keepin on sista.
i have a 700sq ft condo, i can sleep on a 20 inch by 6 foot shelf. i probably could get by in a little van. and i collect "readers" too. had eye surgery 8 years ago, now in my 50's, my arms get shorter ;) lost a good job, had open heart surgery, might be a good time to "change". if a stripped sprinter dropped down from heaven, i could probably have that set up in a month. i'd need a nudge of help with a solar system. one can always dream. best wishes!
Holy cow, do I feel like a dunce! I've had a fruit basket in here for months and have yet to figure out how/where to hang it without drilling into the wood. I could've just hooked it on the cupboard like that! So glad I watched this. It's the little things...
It's so cool that you're vegan!! I've been vegan for almost two years and I really want to RV full time after college. Your videos have been so informative, relatable, and fun so thank you so much for sharing your journey!
wow like this a lot but I'm disabled so not sure I could handle it on my own.. but it is a dream of mine. I'm a writer and being out in open air areas and just writing would be wonderful.. I get to live through your adventures till I can do it for myself ty.. Nancie
ShadyLady- I am honored to get to share my adventures with you. I am glad you are enjoying being a part of my journey! Take care of yourself and thank you for watching!
Wonderful job! I LOVE the really cool storage solution you have on the wall by the door. Great idea and you didn't even mention it! You are one cool lady and I really enjoy watching your videos. I think it was a genius idea to remove that table. Hope you get your furnace working real soon and look forward to seeing more videos.
Capone is so beautiful. What a great companion. I have two cats that don't travel well, so my trekking will having to wait. In the meantime, I will enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing Carolyn!
Great video, like how u painted it & made it into what u like. Does look like alot more leg room without the table. Hi to your great camera guy Bob & Ruff ruff! to Capone doggie. I can tell Capone is well taken care of w/his own mat on the floor & 2 jars of dog treats when alot of your food jars were empty!!! ;)) Can u put a lil' string or something on the middle basket to hook & hold it to the wall so it wont swing around? dunno its late im tired but been watching videos LOL... Dateline & RV videos! haha
Wow. I have serious RV envy. I am a new full time van dweller and also follow a vegan diet. What I miss most is my oven, because my favorite vegan meal is no fat fries baked in the oven! I really miss that but am having to find new foods to eat. Oh well, small problems. I love my van but boy would I love to be able to stand up! 😁
I have seen some really cool ways you can have a hydroponics garden in your window using pvc piping. I watch a lot of the Tiny Home type shows and they have some really good ideas. I just bought an inexpensive toaster oven and I also have a crock pot - mostly because I didn't want to get the over dirty. However, they only work when you are plugged in or have a generator going. I have however, seen some really cool ideas for either clay ovens that work over a fire or using cinder blocks and building a fire, to get an over. If there is a will, I'm sure they have thought of a way somewhere, lol.
It's been a while.... But I made an oven: You need a box with a lid that opens like an ice chest, then I wrapped the inside of a cardboard box with tin foil with double side tape, then placed coat hangers about 1/3rd from the bottom of box for a cooking rack, then place Charcoal Briquettes in tin lasagna pan, when they burn down low place into box. I have made muffins, and treats mostly. I realize this is hard to transport and reuse. Maybe something like this Coleman Camp oven sold on Amazon would work? www.amazon.com/Coleman-2000016462-Camp-Oven/dp/B0009PURJA/ref=sr_1_1?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1483131499&sr=1-1&keywords=camping+oven It says it folds flat for storage.... may even be able to place it over briquettes?
Thanks for taking the time out to make the video tour of your RV Carolyn, you’ve certainly done a great job with it. I’m also a dog friendly human, love Capone, he’s just so at home. I enjoy your videos, as well as value your advice, Thank You, Blessings.
I love it Carolyn you nailed it!! my husband and I are working right now on our campervan getting it ready to live in by march.. thank for all your video I really have enjoyed them. like you said is a choice and that is what we are doing!!!
I always dreamed of doing what you are doing, and still do dream of it. Right now I take care of my 85 yr old Mom so I can't see doing this right now, but I love watching you and your adventurers on the road. Best of luck to you and congrats for your accomplishments!
Really nice remodel. You have created a lovely space for yourself to live and work. Couldn't help but notice the view out the bathroom window when you were showing the bathroom. Wow!
Would you have any suggestions on how a person could make a living on the road??? I don't have any degrees and wonder how someone like myself could possibly do this?? Another great video!!
Awe, Capone looks SO CUTE! Also, I wanted to say it was kinda nice to get all the personal safety videos out of the way and now we can enjoy the journey. :-)
Awesome you are vegan! videos on what you eat in a day please.. love your videos thanks for sharing your life. I dream about the nomadic life with my dogs!
I know this was a couple of months ago now - but - this was a very well done video and I just needed to let you know! The paint looks great, makes it so "homey" The cabinets look great in white and really 'clean & modern' looking compared to the wooden look - blankets in your living-room were genius - great 'cheap' fabric. Everyone - watch until the end the before and after pics are great! It looks good until you see those photos then your like WOW - GREAT JOB!

Thank you so much for sharing your life! So much more power in saying "Watch me!" than pounding out volumes of philosophy! Love it!
One thing I can say I learned since living in our 5th wheel is Ive become creative on fitting things in different places and finding ways around things like I use a cutting board to slide over my sink. Just feeling like going back and watching some of your old videos. I have watched several before now but in the light of yesterdays news it just feels right today. Love you and thinking about you and hoping you know how much you are cared about by many of us.

I LOVE that cutting board over the sink. It fits perfectly!
...Thinking of getting rid of everything, buyin a van, and hittin the road myself!... Thanks for the inspiration! God bless. : )
Did you @chris Tian
You did a great job with the paint and the small remodel. You made it look comfortable.
You should look into the curtains that we use in Semi's , they're room darkening and thermal
Velcro for your magnets is genius!
Thanks for having us in...It all looks so homey and comfortable (I Love the blue)~* Kind Regards, Russ
Thanks for the invite. You have done a nice job. Thank you to Bob for who you are. It's nice you share with so many people.
Thank you very much!! And Bob is an amazing guy who is so caring and selfless.. he helps so many people. I feel lucky to call him my friend!
Very nice. Looks much better then the original. You have a good eye for color.
Capone's bear makes the perfect hat rack. I love it! 😄
Just a suggestion: When you are getting ready to move locations,
fold some of your smaller blankets up and put inside your
cupboards, helps to keep things in place while on the go. Truly
enjoy your videos and life choice.
Geez can't believe I didn't think of that. What a great suggestion! thank you!!! And I think I just took almost all of them to Goodwill yesterday. lol!
Bath towels work also.
Great tip.....I'll be doing this once I get rolling!!! Thanks!
I love this life of minimalist but such an awesome way of living and freedom at the same time! Hope to see you out there sometimes!
Cute!!! Your home is sooooo pretty! You did an amazing job at making your house a home for you and Capone! Thanks for the tour!

👍 WOW, $565 a month in LA sounds like you have found a great spot. Safe & happy travels :)
I have always wanted to do this. But I know I never will. So I really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming.
This is a great picture of you & capone on a coffee cup!!!

Wow...what a transformation. It helps that you have good taste😏 Thanks for the 'I'm stopped long enough to organize' tour.
Friendly, fun, real. Can't beat that. Love the changes to the rv.
I love it! Love those blankets, the pattern is so gorgeous....the thermal curtains are great...colors...it's all serene and wonderful!
Thank you for welcoming me into your home! 😊 It's beautiful!!! 😍
You have a very nice home Carolyn, thanks for the tour and the tips tell Bob hi and you be safe !!!
Will do . Thank you for watching!

Love your little home. Love watching your video's. Would love to live an RV life. Safe travels.
You're rockin' it, Carolyn, and I love watching your evolution.
That is so kind of you!! makes me smile from ear to ear! thank you!

Thanks for the tour and the great tips. Travel safely!
You did a great job on Matilda! What a warm & cozy home. Very comfortable and very functional.
I just got my van a week ago and I will be slowly building it. I've only been vegan for 6 months and I know there is going to be a bigger challenge when I'm ready to hit the road. You should share some of the thing you cook.
Congrats on the van Patti. I'm so excited for you!
I will be doing some food/cooking vids. Lots of people ask.. Thank you!
Wow your comment is 3 years old....I hope you're still vegan. Same here except jve been at it for 40+ years!!! What's your fav go to recipe?
im living this dream of mine vicariously thru u and capone. im ill and basically bedridden but i love watching and wishing it could be me and my service dog.
What are you doing for work?
wow..nice and clean Carolyn !
Love love love what you've done with your place! Thanks for sharing.
I don't think I've seen a video by Bob without his voice. You did very well together.
Thanks for sharing your home. Love it. Love Capone too
Thank *you* for the tour of your homey RV. It's the little things that make for a happy life. Enjoy!
Well done, looks very nice. Thanks for sharing with us. 👍🎄🎅🏼🎄🎅🎄
hI CAROL I just purchased a Tiogia 29 ft RV just like yours, Ford 450 engine. You have been an inspiration to me on taking on my #1 thing to do on my bucket list. I am 60 years old and ready to live a traveling life style. I plan to go full time next year around June. Thank again. I hope we will continue to talk. I need to learn so much. Thanks for sharing with us.
Nice!! It looks like a home, not a RV. Amazing what a little paint & fabric can do
Yes, that's exactly what I said! Thanks for watching!
Nice I like it stay safe good luck in your travels
Awesome video, thanks for sharing so much with us, I love your home!!
It's so cool that you're vegan!! I've been vegan for almost two years and I really want to RV full time after college. Your videos have been so informative, relatable, and fun so thank you so much for sharing your journey!
Looks great; enjoyed the before and after photos at the end. Please be safe in Slab City.
Thank you very much Mouse Toes!
I am buying a '98 class c right now, and I have such plans. Your home is beautiful and tastefully done. Thanks for sharing it.
wow like this a lot but I'm disabled so not sure I could handle it on my own.. but it is a dream of mine.
Same here. I'm somewhat disabled, and not sure I can go it alone.
Excellent video. Safe travels.
Capone is so beautiful. What a great companion. I have two cats that don't travel well, so my trekking will having to wait. In the meantime, I will enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing Carolyn!
Enjoying your channel. Would love to do the nomad life. Maybe soon!
Thanks for another great video. Love all the touches you've done to your RV, looks comfy.
Dateline & RV videos! haha

crock pots and pressure cooker on the road...👍 the oven is yummm
You have done a beautiful job of decorating and making it look neat, clean, and a pleasant place to live.
Van Vibe yay! Raw is so much simpler, isn't it?
Caravan Carolyn the advantages of a van is you can camp for free though

Maybe something like this Coleman Camp oven sold on Amazon would work?
www.amazon.com/Coleman-2000016462-Camp-Oven/dp/B0009PURJA/ref=sr_1_1?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1483131499&sr=1-1&keywords=camping+oven
It says it folds flat for storage.... may even be able to place it over briquettes?
Thanks for taking the time out to make the video tour of your RV Carolyn, you’ve certainly done a great job with it. I’m also a dog friendly human, love Capone, he’s just so at home. I enjoy your videos, as well as value your advice, Thank You, Blessings.
look forward to seeing you make some of your favorite Vegan dishes
I just made her lentil recipe and it was so good! My vegetarian family loved it
I love it Carolyn you nailed it!! my husband and I are working right now on our campervan getting it ready to live in by march.. thank for all your video I really have enjoyed them. like you said is a choice and that is what we are doing!!!
Love the color of your walls. Looks like the color of my kitchen. 😊 Great minds....
It's called "Forest blue" How perfect is that?? ":-)
I love that color. As a child my favorite color crayon was green blue. Did you have to remove the wallpaper to paint the walls?
I always dreamed of doing what you are doing, and still do dream of it. Right now I take care of my 85 yr old Mom so I can't see doing this right now, but I love watching you and your adventurers on the road. Best of luck to you and congrats for your accomplishments!
Carolyn home sweet home . ⚓
Really nice remodel. You have created a lovely space for yourself to live and work. Couldn't help but notice the view out the bathroom window when you were showing the bathroom. Wow!
Robin _ yes I loved that bathroom view!! pretty awesome! Thank you for watching!
Awesome home, thanks for sharing.
Thanks Cindy!
Maybe we'll catch you out west. We are heading to Quartzsite, Arizona in Jan. K10 Deployment Unit, we don't post many videos, but that is us.
Cool hope to run into you. Are you going to the cheaprrvliving.com RTR? I plan to head there for that
we are going to RTR.
We are in a Class A 96 Safari Sahara with lots of cats :)
Love your RV and your Reno on it. What a beautiful and comfortable home for you and Capone.
Would you have any suggestions on how a person could make a living on the road??? I don't have any degrees and wonder how someone like myself could possibly do this?? Another great video!!
I have a page on my website with ideas: www.carolynsrvlife.com/working-on-the-road/
I'll do some vids too soon.
Thank you so much for watching!

Nice and cute.....Enjoy life!
thank you for posting.....i liked all your answers to all the questions ....i like the way you think.....you are a very good person
