WWII vet's emotional return to Normandy, 80 years after D-Day

- At 99 years old, Command Sgt. Major Henry Armstrong is one of the few remaining D-Day veterans left. He traveled to Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-Day to revisit the site of the harrowing and pivotal day that shaped his life. Charlie D'Agata shares his story.

All these brave men on D-Day were heroes. We are lucky some of the heroes like Henry Armstrong are still here to remind us of their sacrifice.

The reporter was correct. The word 'hero' IS overused. WAY overused. Any time someone does something nice for someone or does the job in the career they chose (such as a cop) people automatically call them a hero.
THIS gentleman featured in this clip is a REAL hero. What people do today pales in comparison with these great men and what they did during World War II. I am SO privileged to have known so many of them when I was young and to be raised by that generation.
As far as the 'atrocities we can't mention here' they SHOULD be mentioned. They should be talked about as often as possible. Especially they way the country is today with all the hate and polarization. People need to KNOW what Jews, gays, the mentally ill, etc. were put through and the horrors some of these soldiers witnessed. The mother of one of my doctor's was a holocaust survivor and she used to go around giving talks at various schools. We need to keep that up.
They should do a special interview for all the us military veterans left of ww2 because they are the last ones left to tell the story before they are gone forever and the future generations can learn from their experience not retold stories from historians who werent there.
All of a sudden we are celebrating and talking about a holiday that should be getting celebrated every year but doesn’t ? Now that we are almost at the point of global conflict we are, not suspicious at all.

Actually, there are celebrations in the European Union and the United Kingdom every year to give honor to war vets and the various events of WWII. The red poppies are sold, there are parades, etc. Of course, the UK and the EU received the years of bombing, more deaths of their citizens, more years of food rationing, and were in the war longer than the Americans were, as well.

That was unnecessary. You couldn’t just enjoy the video and feel gratitude; you had to bring up something that is totally irrelevant.
