One thing I've always really liked about Horizon Zero Dawn is the use of the names of the old gods as the names of the AI's components, names like Gaia, Hades and Hephaestus, all names of the gods from Greek mythology. It's sort of poetic in a way, because in Greek mythology the gods created the world and in Horizon zero dawn that's kind of what there trying to do, to destroy the current world to create a new one. Its also all kinds of Meta, as the Greek gods were suppose to have created the world and created humans but in Horizon humans create the "Gods" and destroy the world. Its a pretty awesome story taking aspects from Greek mythology and turning it on its head.
Same here. Just finished the HZD main story. Too eager to start Forbidden West on PS5 to play through the Frozen Wilds DLC. Hopefully this recap will get me up to speed on whatever we need to know before starting Forbidden. I’ll probably try out Frozen Wilds at some point though:
Damn, you missed out. Fireclaws and Frostclaws were one of the best and toughest machines to fight. There was a point were you had to fight two of them...most intense fight in the whole game.
@@Dae... you're so right. Some of the most challenging but also exciting content in the game. They really did the dlc right. Especially with the control towers that make the shield weaver armor weak so you have to build your kit for resistance depending on which you're fighting. Such a good dlc man
The most the cut got featured in fw is aloy talking to Gaia and talking about how she probably would've liked cyan but Cyan probably won't accept any communication requests, they then forget aloy ever said that, lol
I'm refreshing myself on all things Horizon before the game drops. Questions I need answered: - Where did pieces of the space ship fall? Surely gravity pulled some parts down. Maybe they fell in the west o.O - Did the signal that awoke HADES come from the ship before it was destroyed? Maybe it was a mutiny and someone sent the signal and Ted is somehow behind it. - Will CYAN make a return? - Sylens has HADES and he's at an ancient faro bot right now. WTF is he doing?
Frozen Wilds was a mission that should've took place before the Final Mission of the main game. So that DLC means nothing if u already beat the base game.
Well, according to the timeline of events it adds backstory to the Banuk and the entity of Hephaestus, which may be returning in the new game. However, if we take into account only the Hades events, then yes it adds nothing to it
What I didn't expect to enjoy so much about Frozen Wilds is that the character writing is so much better over that of the main game. It's one of Horizon's weak points. A lot of the characters are written pretty badly, and I didn't like many of them. But the Banuk characters and the few Carja who show up in Frozen Wilds are so much more easy to like and be immersed with. Even the side missions that aren't at all significant to the progression of the story were so much better written. One off characters have more personality and subtleties. They make the characters of the main game feel incredibly one-note and stiff. There's characters whom the story wants you to like that I just...don't, and characters that the story clearly wants you to hate whom I just don't, because many of them feel so flat. Like the whole rivalry between the previous Sunhawk and the lady who takes Aloy on and later becomes the new Sunhawk. I was so annoyed with the writing in that entire storyline. It felt so incredibly lazy and barebones. I get the plot and I'm down for it, but the two major characters of it were both just so badly written that I just wanted to get it over with. Compare those characters with the writing for Aratak and Ourea. Heck, I at least remember their names. But more than that, they're both written with so much more nuance and care and...depth. Aratak isn't just a stubborn chieftain. Ourea isn't just the opposing sister. They both have good points to them and they both have flaws that kept them from understanding each other. And by the end of their stories, I actually felt for them. It was great. Heck, Varja appears for ONE quest. A single quest. I only interacted with her for less than five minutes probably. But even in that short of time, I grew to like her character. She had so much personality that came out in such short time, with so few lines. And her quest, for as basic as it was, was still cool and helped to further her character, because she comes along and helps Aloy with 2/3 of it. It of course helps that she upgrades your weapons, but that's not all of it. She just comes off so naturally like she's a genuinely fun character to interact with, not just the writing saying that she's fun. It's like the writers really put in their A game for Frozen Wilds, while they were hamming it in for a large chunk of the main game. Though one exception in Frozen Wilds are the Hunters Three characters. They were mostly just annoying and grading on my nerves. I wanted to get that mission done with ASAP. It didn't help that their AI was horrible during the missions and they barely helped fight the machines. They were so bad that they actually took me out of the game. They didn't feel like they fit well in this world of the Banuk, which I guess was partially the point, but I feel that they went too far in that direction.
@@mikejonesss I think is interesting concept but overall I didn’t really like it that much, they way the NPC are done look lifeless, the scientists holograms look more alive. Just got forbidden west let’s see if it better
