Ever since I started watching your videos and made the step to the safety razor community, I became 'addicted' to shaving, Geo. And the oil tip is one that I'm going to use now. Keep up the good work and greetings from Belgium.
It's kinda weird, lol, I too, find I look forward to shaving now! I never used to do that, but I do now and enjoy trying new blades out, perfecting my technique and love the whole double edged shaving culture. It's like an art now, not a chore for me.
Just in time! I got my Gillette slim adjustable a week ago! Thanks! Γιώργη we got the point about smokes! And yes, you can go play outside Γιώργη!!! Greetings from 🇬🇷. Go Pats!!! (glory days will come back!!!) 😅 Edit: I want aqua velva, but it seems out of stock everywhere!!!
This guy makes me hyped to shave. It's a fantastic to turn the mundane tasks into hobbies and enjoy the manly act of shaving your face instead of just going through the motions. Thanks for the years of wisdom @geofatboy!

After each shave, I disassemble the razor and then water rinse first, after which I spray the razor and blade with 90% alcohol which disinfects along with prevents oxidation on the razor blade.
Running hot water on razor and regular rising is enough to disinfect it. Keeping it clean from visible grime is an important factor to ensure there is not a surface that allows bacteria to culture. Hot water is the key.
Just purchased my first razor. A vulkan and its pretty nice. The medium blades saved me when I didn't understand about adding pressure when shaving, and this video helped on maintenance. Thanks

Hey Geo, great video as always brother. I'd love to see you expand the maintenance side and maybe restore a beat-up or old razor showing us how to remove things like rust spots or polishing dull looking metalwork? Just a thought. Anyhoo...HAGS HAGD!
Thanks for the PSA Georgie! Forest fires are scary and they're also a PIA for those who can be many hundreds of miles away dealing with extreme smoke looking like Armageddon
I just purchase my new MEN'S FINE PRODUCT NI 997-3 SINGLE blade razor. Can u show to shave with it ? Im new to the single blade. I wanted a closer smooth shave as possible. Thank u for your video.
A question please : how do you feel about keeping the whole -or even the upper part - of the razor including the blade inside a jar of alcohol ? Some said that it keeps the blade sharp for a longer time as well as the disinfectant effect . Thanks
Thanks Geo, best regards wishes. Could you please review Swordedge razors? They seem to be great quality for great peice. Also many forestfires are caused by humans.
No. That is not needed. You risk in doing that would be adding material to the blade area that would act as a means for bacterial to for. Just use hot water to sterilise it. Then allow it to air dry.
Depending on how humid it is, there's a rusting possibility. Unfortunately, I ended up with some rust on both my 59 Fatboy and 34c. I love the 34c but it's a bit of a pain to get the sides even. Any good recommendations for something similar with a butterfly twist loading?
@@s.garabet1677 With the 34c when setting the blade in you can turn it upside down and tighten to play with the alignment. You can also just play it by eye. If it is not aligned just loosen and wiggle the head. The blade does not have to be perfectly aligned just good enough to work.
Just keep the head and blade areas clean. Hot water is one of the best options to use. Oil the mechanisms every now and then to reduce wear and to add a protective layer against oxidation.
While I liked your video and found it useful, you missed the most important ones for lubrication, the butterfly and the click/collar adjustible! I had to go elsewhere for that.
Luckily I only shave twice a week, so I can make a good razor last about a month, with proper care. I love wet shaving, but I dont wanna make a hobby of it.
My future son will know you as the shave Godfather
He's like a Jedi master of shaving

get an all brass razor. no rust to worry about, and its naturally an anti-bacterial surface.
Once again the absolute best tips for shaving and safety razors, never thought about oiling the threads of my razors but I am now, thanks again Geo

First here! I use an ultrasonic cleaner from time to time, to really clean them well. Regards from Spain😎.
Nice. Thanks
You could use 'clipper oil' . Wahl do a large bottle which lasts years.
This is pretty useful. I wished i knew it before. My threads are ruined due to lack of lubrication. Oh well, evrryone has to learn somehow
Another great video. Have a great day, everyone!

Good to know olive oil can be used.
Best regards.
Hi Geo. Great demonstration video.
Take care Geo.

This is a great video Geo. Please make a dedicated video regarding maintenance and cleaning of Parker Variant. Thanks
I clean mine with a cheap toothbrush and a little soap and water.
hey geo, do we need a specific oil? Could almond oil work?

bit.ly/AllSafetyRazorsSN Don't know about that one... But you can see many here in action!
I have a Merkur Futur. Is it ok to use baby oil to lubricate the razor.
Nice tips Geo! And I agree, not liking these forest fires either!
Great tips here Geo!! Thank you once again. 🪒🪒🪒
Geo what would you suggest for removing water spots from a Henson Ti 22? Or any other razor for that matter?
What would you recommend to use to make a butterfly safety razor stop squeaking when you open and close it to replace a blade?
shavenation.com/search?q=razor+oil A drop of oil down the handle and on the hinges.
I almost always get cuts from safety razor blade :( maybe I should change Wilkinson to some different branded one?
Great video. I would like to see a small dryer developed. Pop the razor in,turn on the dryer and let it run.
@@ras1500or keep a small dehumidifier around. Does the trick well

That would be too much.
Hi there, should you loose the tension every day between the shaves? Just got my DE safety razor for 2 days now. Great vids!
2:58 Could beard oil have the same effect?
Awesome! Thank you.

which side?
Exactly thanks
Should I dry the blades with a paper towel after use?

Well yeah I neither one of those are stainless or titanium
@@BuffaloNickel9 the rust was from the blades. It wasn't that humid. Luckily I got it off

A older gentleman said to tap the razor at the edge of the sink to shake off the water. Is this a good idea Geo?
Henson specifically warns not to do this.
No lol. You risk destroying a sink and de
What about adjustable razors and ones that are TTO? Anything special to maintain them?

I take my 6C apart and dry it all then put it together again every time
👍. Two piece razor 👍

Razors rust pretty quick.
I would take the razor out as soon as your done
Not that quickly. If you leave them in a damp area for months you will have a potential for rust.
I always remove the blade.
