      @@ahmedhrhrah3426 Hi there, everything regarding the burrs has already been mentioned. There was only two seconds in the video where it was showing HU burrs instead of MP, it is a visual error, everything that was spoken is the feedback.
      Tastewise compared to the 64mm, not that much, they are almost identical, sometimes the 83mm felt easier to dial in for espresso.

    I’m looking for an upgrade from my df64 w. SSP MPs. I’m 90% filter, 10% espresso, but for espresso I tend to use my 1zpresso K-Max. Would you recommend to go with the brew burrs or to go straight for the SSP MPs? How do the two compare for filter, which one do you ultimately prefer?
    Thanks!

    • @ourcoffeeshelter
      @ourcoffeeshelter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there, between the brew burrs of the MP burrs, definitely go for the Brew burrs. They are much cheaper, they are even slightly better than the MP (not super confident in this, but for the few comparison brews they felt better or the same).
      The only disadvantage is that you won't be able to brew espresso with them.
      Timemore Sculptor 078 is a great consideration for only filter grinder 👌☕️🤍

      @@Bendysser This is a tough question as the DF64 had many issues with the declumper and some grind retention (the last 0.5g used to be powdery). We cannot highly recommended the upgrade, maybe wait for something new!

  • @CoreProject05
    @CoreProject05 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    So a sticky dial and a potentially cross threaded grind dial adjuster is no big deal...especially when you need to adjust 0.25 marks? Makes it a joy to use? ..I'd rather spend 2x more but get a much better and reliable UX.

    • @ourcoffeeshelter
      @ourcoffeeshelter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi there, the thread felt solid, thick, and well machined. We doubt you will ever face an issue with cross-threading.
      The point regarding the thread is that probably they did not calculate where the arrow should be placed correctly in the first place, to be fair, the serial number of this grinder is 0001, so have to be fair here too.
      If you have the budget, definitely go with something premium, we personally love premium quality tools. Nonetheless, if we take price tag into consideration, people who wish to get 83mm resutls who are on a budget, we cannot think of anything in the market to compete with that price range. Similar to the very first DF64, it is definitely not perfect, but it opened the approach of single dose 64mm burrs to thousands of coffee friends.
      We plan to review higher quality large flat burrs grinders and compare them with the DF83v along the way, stay tuned for that ☕️🤍

      @ourcoffeeshelter  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, it depends on your roasting preference and tasting preference. Our favourite was the Multipurpose. LabSweet is also really nice, it highlights sweetness and the body is thicker, but Multipurpose gives clearer shots and tasting notes separation, especially with medium to light roasts 🤍☕️👌

    The auger runs with the front burr off. What could possibly go wrong there? It sounds out of balance and that the burrs aren't aligned especially at High RPMs. The only advantages to this grinder are its Chinese knock off / clone pricing and its big ass burrs.

    Im very skeptical about the marketing of these grinders. Creators seem to treat them way too nicely. Not saying theyre bad but they pick on much more established profucts way more than these. And rarely hear the videos arent sponsored.

    • @ourcoffeeshelter
      @ourcoffeeshelter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +36

      Hi there, that is majorly because you have to take price tag into consideration to be 100% fair. When a manufacturer has the freedom of budget, they can definitely address any small issues, however, in most budget friendly cases you hear the term it won't be achievable with this price tag.
      The idea is that, 83mm, 680w motor, adjustable rpm, DLC burrs, you cannot find anything even close at that price in the market.
      In regards to being sponsored, this was a review unit, however, we would never have accepted it in the first place if we are not able to 100% share our own opinion. You can already appreciate and make your own decision based on the demonstration in the video.

      The original DF64 had alot of problems and creators let people know about it. When a company listens to their customers and fixes issues then they can come out with great products. I think that's the best thing about these grinders.

A lot of the things he mentions either weren't mentioned by others or completely brushed over. I was in the market for one and literally watched every video out there about it. In the end a lot of the creators j find more credible like hoffman or Lance never did videos on them or never really went into detail on it. Just wanted to know if the auger on the DF83V is a ?
    1. true “pre breaker” (meaning there’s minimal room for beans to flow and they all get crushed in a uniform way like in the zerno)
    2. Or is it just a “bean feeder “ ( meaning there’s a bigger gap for the beans to flow down and some beans might get crushed and some not)

    • @JeepBigE
      @JeepBigE 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Looks more like a bean feeder. I saw several whole beans getting pulled toward the burrs.

    • @ourcoffeeshelter
      @ourcoffeeshelter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi there, we did it test it without burrs, regretting not shooting that and including it in the video.
      It is around 50/50, breaks half of them, then cuts half of them. However, we were not 100% sure if it will eventually breaks more as without burrs, there is more empty room. Nonetheless, to simply put it, it is mostly feeder, but it definitely breaks a decent percentage before delivering them to the burrs ☕️🤍

    • @mikni4069
      @mikni4069 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s a bean carrier not a bean breaker. A bean breaker/prebreaker is designed such all beans regardless of size get prebroken by being crushed between the prebreaker and chamber walls to do so the bean need to be larger then the “wing” and or slot between these, on a feeder the beans are meant to end in the slots and brought forward. You can clearly see the beans fit the slot on carrier and are brought forward where some are broken others not, this is typical for bean feeders

    • @ourcoffeeshelter
      @ourcoffeeshelter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Good morning. I'm from Poland, where there are no opinions about these grinders. I am considering buying DF83V or DF64 2nd generation. The first one is twice as expensive, but it is not a problem for me. I like the design of the DF83V more, but I have two comments about it. I don't like the function of adjusting the speed (I consider it simply unnecessary) and I don't like the POWER button, so I'm concerned whether the grinder should be turned off using this button after each use (so that the device heats up and prevents a fire). Please advise me which grinder to choose. I would like to mention that I only drink espresso

    Thank you for such a detailed review. If you were to only make filter coffee, would you take the 078 with turbo burrs or the df83v with dlc brew burrs? I only bought my 078 bcus of the Timemore ks. Price was close to Ode V2. I would hold the urge to upgrade, and only if you need a more focused espresso grinder then upgrade. The dlc would be worse or on par with your ode imo.. The 83v is a nice grinder and no doubt better, and with filter specific 83 a upgrade, but also at double the price..

      @ourcoffeeshelter  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there, thank you for the kind words, it means a lot.
      Those are tough questions, we will try to address them in a simple way.
      Fellow Ode burrs are really nice, we spoke about them in this video:
      th-cam.com/video/vdRW_Lmfh9U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=seb5PLD5s2rMX-Bm
      ODE Gen 2 burrs tend to the sweet side while maintaining enjoyable clarity. SSP MP (and the Brew burrs, which are called MP gen 1 sometimes), they highlight tbe clarity and if are dialed correctly, they will give clean, crisp, sweet, and juicy brews.
      The 83mm MP are almost identical, hard to notice any difference.
      The 078 burrs are really good, but we personally found them a bit hard to dial-in, and gives better restoration when are pushed on the finer side.
      DF83V brew burrs are also a great consideration, especially they are cheaper than the SSP MP, but you can't make espresso. They are kind of similar to SSP MP, can't tell much difference between them 🤍☕️

    So now whats your opinion. This df83 vertical mount vs your latest gevi grindmaster. Df83 has the bellows, larger burrs, and a very removable drop chute for easier cleaning. The grindmaster seema they made a good move with their tight thread pitch allowing smaller micron control. Which seems more stable ? Has less vibration? And which grinder out of two has more coffee retained in the chamber. With this new auger mechanisms, there seems to allow alot of coffee retention built up. I dont know if old retention gets pushed out to the new grinding dose or not?

    • @ourcoffeeshelter
      @ourcoffeeshelter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, regarding retention, while the DF83V has larger Auger, it is fixed in the inner burr and dose not allow for retention in the inner chamber. It basically sits inside the outer burr carrier and brings the beans to the inside.
      The Gevi has opposite direction, where the Auger sits inside the inner chamber and the potential of minor retention there is higher than the DF83v.
      Would say both are relatively the same, the DF83v might even have less retention with the use of blower. Nonetheless, pleased with both.
      As for the quality, you will be happg with either of them, if watch both reviews you will be able to have a general idea and make your decision.
      The Gevi is more user friendly and easier to use. The DF83v is like a muscle car, it opens wider potential and room to try around.

    • @ourcoffeeshelter
      @ourcoffeeshelter  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, thank you for the kind feedback!
      You are basically comparing Conical Burrs (1Zpresso and Femobook) with Flat Burrs(DF64). Generally speaking, conical burrs will offer better body and different mouthfeel as the ground coffee particles distribution is different. Conical gives a small peak in fine coffee particles, whereas flat burrs usually have one peak in ground particles size.
      The Femobook in our opinion is one of the best conical in its category (sizewise, geometry is similar to 1Zpresso K-series and Comandante, pricewise, and usability). In our comparison review we loved it, but our main issue was the noise.
      However, they have improved the noise in their latest production batch, and you can check our review here:

    I think the problem with the DF83 (original version) is the grind speed is super fast and the declumper holds back the flow of coffee, modding the declumper opens it up so it flows better and you get less fines, less retention and more flavour clarity. I kinda miss the high body and lower clarity almost conical like profile from when I first got the DF83 before modding the declumper and the stock italmill burrs got seasoned (I think they ended up getting higher clarity too).

Apparently the Lagom Mini got rid of the dial indicator numbers because people (NEWBS?) complained the numbers were confusing or ruined the look or something? It's stupid! I can't believe some of the suggestions some of these companies will listen to!

    Adjustment dial should be medium firm, not difficult to turn. Maybe it needs some more grease. Or the burr carrier needs to be de-burred. Mine had lots of sharp edges. It does work well so far. I'm very new to it. I didn't check alignment. That's next.

      Hi there, it is not fair to compare the two considering the price difference. It is definetly more capable, more customisable, and more user friendly in Espresso.
      Nonetheless, the Timemore 078s stock burrs were wonderful for filter, and gives delicious espresso. We personally were not able to give final verdict as we only had the 078 and installed 078s burrs on it.

    • @ourcoffeeshelter
      @ourcoffeeshelter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there, the problem with Gen 1 is the retention of the last 1 gram and it usually gets re-grind. The ability of adjustable RPM, and pre-breaker/beans-feeder , Plasma generator, you will be getting a more enjoyable experience overall. Tastewise difference, it is a tough question, we wouldn't say it would be massive difference 👌

Some think 83mm provides smoother and with little more depth of flavor, as well as (maybe?) easier to dial in for some of the 83mm. Trying to know if it's worth the increased cost of 83mm vs 64mm if same burr type-geometry especially since so many more burrs are avail. for 83mm. Thank you

    I think that for now it's the best electric single dose grinder for home use
    1. Vertical burrs for good single dose performance
    2. Low speed grinding
    3. Price

    • @ourcoffeeshelter

      Hi there, the price tag plays a huge rule in any of our reviews. If this was $3000 grinder, we would have been much more picky in regards to the quality control (having the guide arrow not 100 vertical), sizewise, designwise, nonetheless, this grinder has a serial number of 0001, have to be fair here. Still, we are genuinely pleased of using it in a daily bases and it checks so many boxes. Definitely a strong competitor in the market and will be loved by many ☕️🤍

    Great video (Viewer from australia). I have a niche zero which I use for espresso, moslty milk drinks/long blacks. Thinking of purchasing this for filter and other larger grind size type coffees. Would this grinder be a great addition next to the Niche? or would you even recommending just replacing the Niche using SSP MP burs for both esspresso/milk drinks and filter coffees?
    If as an additional maching, would I still benifet in forking out more for the MP Burrs or stick to stock Filter burrs?
    Note: I always enjoy my cups, but always looking to wow my guests.
    Thank you

    • @ourcoffeeshelter
      @ourcoffeeshelter  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there! Honestly if you got the SSP MP well aligned in the DF83v, you will have no need for another grinder. Either filter or espresso.
      That being said, some people tend to miss the thick body in their espresso and SSP MP gives extra clarity in espresso and less body.
      You can also consider having both the DF83v, and the DF54 (video will be live in 5 hours, make sure to check it 👌😊). The DF54 will give you that extra body.
      Another consideration is the DF83V + the Varia VS3 (Which is conical burr). We have discount codes for all of them that you can feel free to benefit from.
      Goodluck, hope you have a lovely day, and cheers to all our friends in Australia 🤍☕️😊
