  • Hi everyone! Welcome back to our channel. Today, we're diving into a topic that affects many of us at some point - mouth and tongue ulcers. These small, painful sores can be incredibly uncomfortable, but don’t worry, we’re here to help you understand what they are, why they happen, and most importantly, how you can treat them. Let’s get started!"
First, let’s talk about what mouth and tongue ulcers are. Also known as canker sores or aphthous ulcers, these are small lesions that develop on the soft tissues inside your mouth or at the base of your gums. They’re different from cold sores, which are caused by the herpes virus and typically occur outside the mouth."
Now, what causes these ulcers? There are several potential factors, including:Minor Injuries: Accidentally biting your cheek, tongue, or irritation from dental appliances like braces.Food Sensitivities: Acidic foods such as citrus fruits, tomatoes, and spicy foods can trigger ulcers in some people.Stress: Emotional stress is a common trigger.Nutritional Deficiencies: A lack of vitamins like B12, zinc, folate, and iron.Hormonal Changes: Especially in women during certain times of the month.Medical Conditions: Conditions like celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, and HIV/AIDS can contribute.Infections: Bacterial, viral, or fungal infections can also lead to ulcers."
So, how can we treat these painful sores? Let’s explore some of the effective treatments available:Over-the-Counter Products:Topical Pastes: Products containing benzocaine, like Anbesol, can numb the area and reduce pain.Mouth Rinses: Antiseptic mouthwashes can help reduce bacteria and promote healing.Prescription Medications:Corticosteroid Ointments: These can reduce inflammation and pain.Antibiotic Mouthwashes: These are useful if there’s a bacterial infection present.Home Remedies:Saltwater Rinse: Dissolve a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and rinse your mouth several times a day.Baking Soda Rinse: Mix a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and use it as a mouth rinse.Hydrogen Peroxide: Mix equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water, then dab it on the ulcer with a cotton swab.Milk of Magnesia: Apply directly onto the ulcer to soothe the pain.Aloe Vera Gel: Apply directly to the sore for relief."
