    The trees remind me of comics and magazines I read as a child which were made with very limited palattes but had so much character and told whole stories.

      Yes I agree, I really liked her sketch of the trees in the forest too… I loved her use of the coral which gave a great pop of colour ~ such a vintage vibe about it! 🧡🩶🤎

    i love how you use the texture of the paper to your advantage! As always, your color choices are so soothing and you make a "gray" scene feel cozy and even refreshing rather than gloomy.

    Another wonderful video!. So nice to see you working on several paintings and to see how they are progessing. I loved the forest sketch,the red highlights on the trees are so visually striking,I think this sketch could transfer into a really striking painting (or future postcard maybe..). I loved the little church,wonder if it will appear in some form in future paintings..... I think the person the commision is for will be very happy with the final painting when it goes to it's new home. The large landscape painting is looking really good too,the greys and greens you have chosen to paint it with works so well together. It's good to see how much better the new desk is making things for you already such a good investment for the studio and your creative well being.I loved how striking the final gouache lanscape piece you show at the beginning of the video looks,would make a great print maybe...... This video felt like a lovely casual and insightfulconversation with an artist friend. The olive yellow pencil really does add a dynamic contrast to the greens and green blues used used over and alongside it. And happy to haer how much you love the Molotow pens,I love these too.Your videos are always such a welcome and inspiring gift. (matt)
    P.s I am going to order the same new desk as you,I have a brilliant support worker,and she was saying because of my ongoing health issues (and being now seen as physically disabled,not something I've actually thought of myself) there are sources of funding I can apply for help towards the cost of the desk, on the premise of how much it will benefit my health and well being (which it will,as it is doing so for you). So once I have secured the partial funding, I will put some money in and my partnter Craig will too (bless him) So thank you for inspiring me to go for it.I know this desk will really help me and it's a long term investment in my creative well being.Several artists I follow here on you tube have a desk of this type,but the way you talked about it and how it will really make a difference to you,short and long term creatively and otherwise,gave me the little push I needed to invest in one.I really can see how it will benefit me in the future.Oh yes seeing your black nail varnish,back in my younger days when I was punk I used to paint my nails black,and as part of now accepting and living my new one armed physicality,I dececided to go back to painting my nails black again!!! and i discovered that Craig is really good at painting nails!! and bless him when I dececided to do this for the first time he offered to paint them for me,now that's love!!! ha ha.

    • @NatashaNewtonArt
      @NatashaNewtonArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Matt! I'm always so happy to hear how much you're enjoying the videos. :) And the black nail polish sounds fantastic! How great that you have Craig to help with that. I used to be a bit of a Goth in my youth and black nail polish is still my favourite colour!

    You know when you see something and think: ‘I wish I had come up with that first’? That’s how I feel for your work 😍. I know that I can’t even make my own version (NOT copies, just paintings inspired by you), your painting look so effortless but are so hard to do. So my goal is to save until I can buy a painting and it will be worth every penny 💕

    Hey! at 9:55 you showed one of your succulents, typically when a succulent has that much space in between the "leaves" it means they need more direct sunlight. A grow light could help. Have a good one :)

    Hi Natasha - I was wondering....in one of your recent videos you presented a drawing in your sketchbook and mentioned you thought it would be an actual piece in the future. Sorry, I can't remember exactly which video it was. My question is, will you do the actual piece exactly like the sketchbook sample or do you make subtle changes along the way. Thanks!

    • @NatashaNewtonArt
      @NatashaNewtonArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ann! That's a good question. :) I'd generally use the sketch as a starting point for the general composition, colour palette, or feel of the piece, making changes along the way. I like to allow the paintings to evolve as they go along!

    Love ur art! When you sketch from real life, how do u fight off the feeling that ur art must be the exact replica of what u see?

    • @NatashaNewtonArt
      @NatashaNewtonArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Honestly, it took quite a few years for me to feel that it was ok to do this, but once my own style had evolved, it became easier. Watching how other artists paint/draw actually helped me too. I could see that they weren't trying to create an exact copy of what they saw and it kind of gave me 'permission' to do it too!
