Had a Cyborg ZR Rs colt myself way back when.
wind up windows, New patches of rust you had to deal with every time you looked under it and €3,500 to insure it for the year.
Still adored the car all the same and minded it like puppy.
It developed a problem where the mivec kicking in caused it to go into limp mode and 3 different mechanics (including Mitsubishi) couldn't tell me what the fault was,
Since I had already pissed away hundreds with new sensors and parts trying to solve the problem I had to cut my losses and shift it.

My first car was a black 2001 colt with a sunroof. Great car. 200k miles on it before we left it to die in the garden. Never missed a beat.

Fun Fact. The Colt and Smart ForFour share the same chassis and engine. The smart was available with a Brabus package which also had a turbo 1.5 but more power
iv got a brabus power to weight is a laugh 180hp in barely a tonne always a smile on the face to smoke someone in a smart car 🤣

It uses the czt Switzerland package but due to weight you can't really tune it and run it like the colt unfortunately .. keeping stock is about all you can do without huge mods to keep traction
How is it the same chassis? One has the engine in the rear which would have to be a totally different beast. The engine yes is the same.
Them 90s Colts are so comfortable to drive everything is in the right place 👌🏼🤙🏼👍🏻

The Colt's were sold here in Australia through Mitsubishi Dealers but were called the Colt Ralliart Edition.
They also sold a convertible version of them here as well that look really cool with the top down but were not based on the Ralliart one but the base model

We got the Mirage and Colt in Australia but it was called a RalliArt Colt. There's always 1 or 2 for sale.

We had a one make Mirage racing series here (Australia) and it was very popular, but now to find a nice one is pretty hard 👍
The smart Twofour was based on that colt. They actually had a model that was tuned by brabus.
Norris Designs in the UK has a 3 door Colt Ralliart tuned to 450 bhp, it's very rapid weighing in at under a tonne.

Had to opportunity to pick up a colt ralliart up in wexford was between that and a mk6 tdi, bought the golf and im absolutly gutted looking back now.
I bought a freshly imported 97 Cyborg RS back in 2009 as my first car and she's still going strong after 13 years of ownership! She's had loads done chassis wise including a 12 point cage but the engine is still the 1.6 MIVEC.
with a remap and exhaust the colts can make around 200hp, awesome bang for buck we have heaps of them pretty cheap in new zealand

Got a 2011 Z27 Colt Ralliart Ver R myself. Thinking about selling it. Nothing wrong, fully stock and a lot of fun to drive. I keep it clean as much as I can.
I have to say we are so lucky that our cars don't just waste away Alot of these cars are still around and are in good condition.
That 4g92 DOHC is no joke . In my country , u can push about 500 hp with that engine including mods like 4g93 block , td04 turbo and etc
There is even an official Colt Ralliart version with 180 hp here in Switzerland with a 197 hp option!

I'm from nz and we had all of those hot hatch and there are still Alot of them around. Less so the mirages but the vrz pulsars, galanza starlets and civics. I live all those 90s Japan cars. I learnt to drive in a 89 ef civic hatch. Before I moved from nz to aus I had a 1987 Datsun navara

I test drove the CTZ years ago!! Gave it some boot in second TC jumped in way to early asked the guys how to turn it off he said you can't from factory!! Strait round the next roundabout back to the Garage!! Lol

19 year old self went to look at a mirage asti rs back in 2011. Sitting on old coilies, enkei wheels with a heat wrapped headers and recaros. Tried my hardest to get insured on it but not a hope. Fell in love with it though and never forgot it. €1200 I think he was looking for it. Peanuts.

Funny the Mirage was also called Mirage in Australia. It was the small 2 door version of the Lancer. The Colt was the Colt with the Ralliart being the Top model. The Mirage Lancer was this 2 door hatch, then we had a 2 door lift back, 4 door sedan and 4 door wagon/Estate.

I have always loved the Mirage Cyborg ZR.. One of those cars you never knew existed if it wasn't for Gran Turismo.
My buddy actually put a Mirage cyborg motor into a Lancer back in the day and then fitted a turbo to it, still to this day one of the scariest cars I have ever been in.
Rob built a similar car, terrifying! TheCyborg ZE is such a super underrated car. I also enjoyed building them in GT back in the day.

Just turned 17 a few months ago and my first car an ‘06 Colt, nowhere near as cool as any of the Colts in this video but it’s still surprisingly quick and roomy (I’m 6’4 and fit perfectly fine with some room to spare) my only gripes are it’s a little ugly and a 1.0 litre but otherwise it’s an amazing car
Oh man that Cyborg is so cool! I currently have a mirage with a 2.0l mivec v6 from the FTO and oooohhhh boy does the car like to have the extra power, chassis not overpowered at all and brakes from FTO too. They are such underrated cars with so much potential, the stock suspension lets it down on track a bit but coil overs and sway bars/strut brace help so much!. The fto box and v6 BOLTS IN same engine mount locations ect. Love the vid, but more mivec action next time pretty plssssss :P , you only revved it out once @8:48 :'( doesnt even come alive before then!
my first car was (and still is) a colt 2010 cleartec 1.3 95cv, done a couple of mods to it, this cars are fun

As a young person (22) insurance is a pain in the hole. The Version R is a good choice. Ended up getting around the same price as I did from my bog-standard 1.5 petrol 2008 Lancer and the premium went down the next year. It's about as close as I'll get to getting anything JDM right now.

The Dodge Colt was Originally sold in the States beginning in the early 70's as 1st generation Galant. It was Mitsubishi's first car to be sold here, under the Chrysler name plate. 1979 Brought the FWD Mirage over, and it was sold as the Mitsubishi Mirage, Dodge Colt, and Plymouth Scamp here. 1984 is the last year of the 1st gen Mirage here, and we received the Colt GTS turbocharged model (only 2 door hatchback). Next generation we also got a turbo-variant but it used the same turbo engine from the previous gen, with a different transmission, and gained weight. A 5 door turbocharged sedan sold as the Dodge Colt of this gen could be purchased. 1989 Brought the states what you would call a Cyborg, or what was sold in japan. Limited production run of Dodge Colt GT Turbo and Mitsubishi Mirage Turbo. Only hatchback, no Cyborg sedans unfortunately. 1992 is the end of the Mirage/Colt being made in Japan, and all cool interesting mirages stopped entering the states. No MIVEC models, wish we got those in the states. It is rare to see any pre '92 Mirage on the road. They remain cars forgotten by time here for the most part, we do have some stupid quick 4g63t swapped colts here. Never can get enough of Mitsubishi's, thanks for the video!

Just a pity the gear ratios were a bit out, you really had to be tramping on to go into 5th with the MIVEC still engaged, my Borg is still my favourite car I`v owned.
Another fun Mitsubishi fact. The new Space Star was supposed to be called Mirage in europe.
However, after the first shipment was sent out to Europe, a company (a German Porsche tuner if I'm not mistaken) protested to the name as they still had the trademark.
Mitsubishi had to sent out an helicopter to the ship with a bunch of Space Star badges because they still had that name hanging around.
The local Mitsubishi dealer tolt me that some are still recognizable by slightly misplaced badges because we'll, ship crew aren't badge placers.
I guess Europe didn't get the Mirage name because the trademark was always taken.
Thats pretty wild if its a true story! And now Mitsubishi are pulling out of Europe altogether, a real shame tbh but thats how things are going.
@@juiceboxforyou I did some more digging and it seems that Gemballa modified a Carrera GT and was called Mirage GT. I have yet to find a solid source on the shipment story, other than what the dealer told me.
You need to import it straight from S'pore coz it is dirt cheap(£1,500)for cars above 10yrs old it needs to be scrap and they don't have the facility so they send it to Malaysia.
I luv the old 4G92 1.6 MiVEC of the old CyborgR and over in Malaysia they have the 4G93 1.8 N.A GTi R3 spec they are ripping it up with the Honda.✌

I’ve always liked the hatch mirages they looked really good besides swapping a Evo engine. But that newer colt looks really good and has a good sound. It’s a taller hatch like a fit kind of. I think you pissed the machine of in that thing though. Great video you guys.

Zr has more horse but you can make the colt 240hp without touching the internals .. I'm in NZ and my Version R is running 15 to 20 psi and just over 200hp literally cosmetic mods ..

I had one in black, it was only 103 bhp though.

Just for shits and grins, look up the Proton Jumbuck.
Its actually a Mitsubishi Mirage platform and front end with a ute back end. Its actually a Mitsubishi Lancer but in ute form. Our Mirage only had the SOHC 4g15 and so does the Proton Satria/Jumbuck so its cranking out a whopping 90hp
Wow just had a look at that too! Pretty mental, a few of those protons made it out here, always laughed when we saw an early 90s shape Mitsubishi rebadged years later as some "new Proton"
@@juiceboxforyou they were pretty good still! The Satria GTI and M21 (which was a CC Lancer) had the 4g93 140hp motor I think. Was pretty good power in a light car for a 17 year old!

Mitsubishi gave up here in the US a long time ago. The lancer evo was the last good car they brought here.
Gday neil love the mitsubishi's they both very cool in there own right, and now im looking for a 1.5 mirage here in Australia and you would be supprised with how dusty everything is its also quite dry so cars that have been siting for a bit there actually quite dirty with dryed out hoses and seals etc but there are some real gems, and by chance is there a PO box or something that i can send a few stickers to ye lads anyway love from Australia as always!

I want to put my colt motor and package in the cyborg .. prefer the euro colt front end though .. much gruntier .. eudm models had.less power due to egr crap and emissions stuff
I had a 1990 1.3 colt with very bad paint so I decided to add some racing stripes yep that wasn't my brightest idea I used highly reflective road marking paint the car would light up at night from car lights 😂. The last mitsubishi I had was a 2001 1.3L Spacestar and I drove that poor car like a rally car sadly rust killed it off and the gearbox exploding twice 😂

I hope you know that the headunit in the colt worth a shit thon of money. Its a denon one it probably goes around 400-500 euros. Amazing car btw a chick in Hungary inported one of these about two monts ago. It is white but if i remember correct it is auto. Not to sure tho.
