    I agree with some of the comments, these 1.5 Turbo colts where basically overbuild engine wise to last forever. So a simple remap will easily get them to 180-190 hp. Add a better flowing exhaust to that and you will break through the 200 HP mark. With a bigger turbo, larger injectors and a Frontmount as the next step you should reach 240-250 hp and the engine will still last forever. And if you still want more, fully build those things can reach north of 300 WHP wich is actually kinda insane considering the size and weight of these things.

    With some adjustments to the software these can easily gain 20-25% more power and torque without really needing any supporting mods. There are also versions of this car that come with 180hp stock which only differ in software.
    I've had my Colt Ralliart for three years now and it's a great daily. It is lightly modified and so far very reliable as well.

    Remap+ exhaust on these= sleeper
    Easy 200hp+
    And never put on an athmosferic BOV, it makes it slower and WILL destroy it long term. For slicker gear changes and better throttle response you can disconnect the top cluth sensor

    The owner just needs to get it properly dyno mapped (by one of the two specialists), then it will leave the Honda K20.
    Easy and cheap to get 200-210bhp and then you can really feel the turbo torque. Mines 209 and it is about right.
    Standard turbo good to 225bhp with supporting mods.
    Above 250 torque you need to forge the engine. Few UK CZT's or Ralliart 's running 350-450bhp over here now.

    Jay. 3-door CZT owner here. The CZ3 1,3 was such a reliable practical cheap to run little car that I got a turbo version later as well. For sure it is not a rally car but if you floor it or go on a twsty hill road you can definitely figure out if the M-sport logo on the BMW behind your car is real or not. Also it is the fastest hatckback that can carry a Marshall JCM900 full stack, guitars, other stuff and more stuff to my gigs. Sometimes I tetris a staggering amount of music gear into it. I f'n love the Colt.

      @@harriball7862 The 3-door CZT is definitely the one: it has more rigid chassis and it's more agile than the 5-door one, to my knowledge. It is quite an enjoyable daily drive. The fake sport badge dethroning happened to me a couple of times too, then I started to drive it very gently when others wanted to race. I'm rather a rally guy. I have my own race with the clock. Safety first, of course.

    I have owned 2 of these. I feel like your review really understated the power. When it came out, it's power either surprised or surpassed equivalent cars in it's class. Over time, knowing where to find peak torque in the rev range really helps expose the cars potential. Thats when the real fun begins.

      Lol, 450 bhp would be ridiculous in something this size/weight especially for road use. You’d have spent a lot on the engine to get anywhere near that too I expect. 200-250 bhp and decent suspension would be enough for something like this to keep up with most things on a B road.

    Disagree with you heavily I have czt and have been in many it isn’t the ralliart but the hatchback and it is very quick
    The turbo has lag n once kicks in gives u a good thrash with the right mods you can get an amazing induction sound and very quick cars at stock 150 with the weight
    However simple mods that make the car breathe better really turns the car into an absolute animal
    I don’t think you mentioned but when turbo kicks in a little later in the revs the mivec system kicks in and pushes the car harder to redline
    From what your review says I wonder if the car is suffering from a boost leak or a crack in the manifold which is extremely common

    • @Kraegy
      @Kraegy 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      My 2008 Ralliart Colt was losing power. Mechanic diagnosed a leak from the turbo manifold. Got that fixed and now the car's a little rocket again. Just so much fun especially with the new coil-overs. I got a minecraft spider plushie for the dash (feels more JDM lol) and (1) the orange, red and black colours perfectly match the ralliart logo, and (2) car goes way faster

  • @markhood6654
    @markhood6654 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    these are pretty quick, they suffer from manifold cracking from the factory, thats potentially whats wrong with this one, but it does sound like the boost is pulsating under wot. I had a tuned 210bhp one and it was unreal. Theres one around my way with 240bhp and its something like 220bhp a tonne and it utterly flies. I think this one was slightly poorly jayemm, i would look into getting one thats looked after from dan at dynodaze or a cortin miller looked after one. My friend has a 196bhp one thats on 130k miles and it goes really well and boost feels really strong and believe me they usually have alot of character if you have one thats working and running correctly. Try another before fully passing judgement

      @@ghost_535 I’ve got one of these, gearboxes are strong but there’s 2 things most don’t know about/neglect on the box side. Easy to damage 2nd as some will try and shift into it faster than the gears engage (making it crunch).
      There is also no reverse brake, to shift into reverse need to wait 3s after pressing clutch in, or it will crunch.
      The boxes hold up well to abuse, and are brilliant to drive. The one in vid, seems like there’s something wrong with it, mine has an aftermarket panel filter, the boost restrictor pill removed, an aftermarket bov, and the sensor at clutch pedal disconnected.
      Let me tell you, it absolute flies, the total opposite of the one Jay drove. Also, red goes faster 😉

    1. Is it better to go for the 5MT version or the CVT one?
    2. I’m looking for more boost without making major changes. Is that possible? Can I remap it to stage 2 without changing any engine parts? (I do street racing and hill pulls.) or its better to stick with the stage 1.
    3. Where can I get a remap done? Who would you recommend? Is it possible for someone to help me remap through the internet, as I don’t want to send my ECU outside Japan?
    Any other recommendations or advice would be much appreciated. Please let me know your thoughts.

I've got a Ralliart Version R at home, along with an Evolution V and CZC Turbo, the Version R is a real blast and fun, especially on fast B roads, and like you said I only weigh 70 kilograms so that helps also 😅 It's one of the most fun cars I've ever owned. Maybe I should start uploading videos myself, this was a horrible review.

      @@ghost_535 Hi, I have a CZT. No problems on the gearbox. Although the reverse is not syncronized, that means sometimes it doesn't want to get in reverse. What I do is put it in neutral, depress the clutch and try again. I suppose people who don't know of that quirk end up thinking the gearbox is broken.
      The only thing I've broken in 10 years is the clutch.
      Also the upholstery in the front seats wears thin and has developed a couple of tears on the lateral support.

    Isn't this a gen 1 Smart ForFour Brabus underneath? I think i'd take the Smart tbh, it's better looking, more powerful, gets around 50mpg and rockets to 60 in under 7 seconds. What's not to like? A genuine UK car can be picked up for as little as 2k although generally i've seen them for 3-4k. I'd love to see how that reviews compared to the Colt. Who's got one then?

    Fun fact the 1.5 engine is the exact same one Mitsubishi use in the Diesel version of this car, so yeah that might explain why its so boring to drive, i actually have one of these cars the 1.1 litre 3 cylinder version, it makes a hell of a racket when you accelerate but doesnt appear to go very fast and also the ride is atrocious i thought my suspension was broken , as everytime i hit the slightest bump the car shakes and rattles and if you try to take a corner too fast the car feels like it will turn over LOL , body roll is very bad, i dont understand why they made the car as tall as a small van? Mitsubishi should have lowered the suspension at least.

    You drove a dud. It's an old car now, that one is probably not very well maintained, had bad mods, boost leak etc. I've had two of the UK CZT models from the same era (a 56 plate and a 57 plate which I still have) and while they were cheaply built and lacked features and handling, they did not lack acceleration. The JDM models had a bit more power but even the UK 147bhp model 0-60 was 7.2 seconds on paper, but that was conservative. Both of mine were 6.5 seconds before any mods. That was great performance in the 2000's.
