Does Glados qualify for this list? Redirecting the rockets isn't exactly tricking her and I'm pretty sure that is the intended method to beating her. Given how loosely tricking the boss is used, Anna Navarre and Gunther Hermann from Deus Ex might qualify, since once you call out their killphrases they blow up themself. Alternatively, if you know the boss fight with them is coming, then you can place a mine on ther path to you to blow them up before they ever reach you.
Im fairly certain yall are thinking alternate ways to beat them he didnt say that he said make them hurt themselves shes hurting herself with her own rockets
I remember one of my first times watching a boss take itself out. Outside of the many Dark Souls bosses you can trick into yeeting themselves to their death like the Minotaur Demon from DS 1, I remember fondly the main boss of Operation Anchorage in Fallout 3 that will take his own life if you succeed in a speech check to make him think he's committed great dishonor in his actions.
I know it FFX when you fight Seymour in Bevelle (the third fight with him when he has that parasite thing to the left of him), as long as you're mindful of your own survivability, bullying the parasite thing enough causes Seymour to heal it with his own HP reserves I made him kill himself by beating up the parasite thing relentlessly (this was on the HD remake, btw)
You're actually right about the male component of the Master in Fallout's voice. It was Jim Cummings, the same actor who voiced Pete. The female part was Kath Soucie (both of the DeVille twins in Rugrats)
Yeah, I was wondering where Malus or Thisobald Thorm were. But I guess they couldn't include them because they needed the space for yet another FromSoftware game, as they do in, like, every video.
Technically not a method of trickery. He is shocked to the core about the truth of his origins, and an alternative means to defeat him. As a result, he loses the will to fight, as well as his will to live on, as he sees himself as a soulless abomination.
The weapon I have in LE1 is really good, givesupergun console command, and a mod that fixes super gun. If for whatever reason I don't use charm or intimidate, the fight would still be over quickly
Apparently, the human voices of The Master are Jim Cummings and Kath Soucie. The former's pretty extensive filmography does, indeed, include Pete from Goof Troop and A Goofy Movie.
Came here to say the same thing. The game actually has a pretty impressive voice cast, including MacGyver himself, Richard Dean Anderson; Keith David, Clancy Brown, Ron Perlman and more
Before playing the video Expecting to see: Mass Effect 1, Fallout 1, and Metal Gear Solid 3 here again. If the definition of this is any boss that can be lured into pits / off scream kills, you could make a list from retro games alone 🤭 I’m just going to go for it off the top of my head: Double Dragon 1 & 2, Blaster Master, Mega Man 2 (one Hit kills), golden axe, (can’t remember if all 3 could or even if beast rider included a boss that could be killed via a pit), many souls like bosses can be kicked down pits, not sure if the “counts” but decisions in say Hollow knight kill bosses without you lifting a finger much like Mass Effect and fallout charm stat…
Not sure Asgore should count, since the way you say it, you have to not only do his boss fight, but you also have to do Omega Flowey and then fight Asgore again, then you choose to spare him, so he kills himself to let you go through the barrier not wishing to cause you anymore suffering. You never trick him into killing himself, he was dead set on dying anyways despite your mercy. It isn't even a way to skip the boss as you do it twice.
I glad to see the positive affirmations back at the end of the videos. Things are a bit pear shaped at the moment and it's nice to hear positives for a change.
This might not count since they're technically mini-bosses but what about Gleeoks from TOTK? King or one of the three elementals doesn't really matter if you've got the eye(s) for kicking hydra-dragon butt by not only making sure you have a way to reach slightly higher ground quick enough to avoid being swept away from wing gusts or letting the beast get too far up into the air. Using some kind of platform, a Lynel bow and a bunch of eyes (with some help from gravity), every time the Gleeok is stunned, it falls from whatever height it reached back to the ground. If high enough, the arrogant beast will actually hurt itself on landing and if its health is low enough? It will die. That or you bash it to death with the best weapons you've got while it's stunned. Otherwise, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Literally.
Don't eat floor meat. Yes it is delicious and free but it gives you a runny bummy. Wasn't Jim Cummings also the backup voice actor for Scar and Rasputin and King Triton in the prequel movie?
Honourable Mention (spoiler warning): Every single one of the Thorm family from Act 2 of Baldur's Gate 3 (Malus, Gerringothe, Thisobold & Ketheric) can be killed without a fight if you can pass the correct skills/dialogue checks.
Yup. Pretty sure this is an old video from their archives, as Jules used to do a single, crude "mom joke" per video, but they got phased out a long time ago. They never bothered me, but I guess they must have bothered someone- or they bothered TH-cam's censors. That's a distinct possibility, actually, now that I think about it.
@@banziijg Yeah, I don't think they've ever come right out and said why he stopped doing his "one per list" jokes. Not to my knowledge, anyway. It's a mystery. And a shame- some of them were iconic!
Did he say he was going over ALL the bosses you can trick into doing it? *no* if you read the title instead of trying to act smart you would know he’s going over *8* of them
Love this Channel but they gotta broaden their games a lil cos the amount of times we the viewers can call em out on what they're missing is crazy Though I do love the following videos to compensate
In Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick, if your stats are high enough, you can negotiate with Kerghan that life has value, and everything doesn't have to be killed, and, if you succeed, he'll take your viewpoint and only kill himself, so he won't kill everything else.
Just as I’m thinking “killing themselves” is kinda wild for part of the title especially when they always try to fine tune it for the algo and then Jules says “defeating themselves” and that was def prob the better option. Great vid tho
(Mass Effect) Saren's death at his own hands is not a method of 'trickery'. It's a dialogue option, convincing him that he was made into a puppet of the reaper ship Sovereign, through means of devious indoctrination as this becomes more more apparent over time throughout the Mass Effect series. Saren resorts to this because he realizes that he became what he feared: a puppet. (Fallout) The Master can be dealt with in multiple ways at the end of the game, based on your character's build and dialogue options. Using logical debate isn't 'tricking' him, because facts don't equate to 'trickery'. In his mind, he believes he has produced the ultimate solution for humanity to survive in a post nuclear apocalypse. In THIS scenario, you pull out the ultimate 'Actual-Lee', and point out all of the oversights in his grand plan; because super mutants are sterilized and cannot reproduce. Essentially he is limited to forcing FEV onto vault dwellers, but that is a very finite resource. You convince an absolutist that his plan is doomed to fail.
The Portal entry is just....how you beat GLaDOS. It isn't tricking the boss. That's just literally how you are supposed to do it. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I'm just not seeing how that's tricking the boss.
Yeah the it's the normal way you're supposed to kill GLaDOS but that's still the title still stands it's still tricking them because did they intend for you to did the bosses intend for you to do that no so I just want to say I'm sick right now I'm literally feel so bad right now
I'm surprised Baldur's Gate 3 wasn't mentioned. There's 3 very tough bosses in Act 2 that you can trick into killing themselves. SPOILERS AHEAD In House of Healing there is a 'Doctor' Malus Thorm with his Nurses. With the right dialogue options, stats and luck you can convince him to have the Nurses operate on each other, killing themselves, then trick him into operating on himself, killing himself. Gerringothe Thorm in the Reithwin Tollhouse can be tricked with dialogue and on success, she will kill herself - she blows up and you get a LOT of gold. Thisobald Thorm is in the Waning Moon. You can have a drink with this incredibly bloated undead. If you succeed enough Constitution checks to match his drinking and entertain him with stories he will drink to the point his stomach explodes. In all 3 cases you still receive experience of defeating them as if you had battled them and their minions.
You don’t trick Pyramid Head into killing itself. What actually happens is that Pyramid Head is James Sunderland’s guilt, and when he comes to accept his guilt, the two Pyramid Heads kill themselves because James has accepted his guilt and what he has done. Not because you trick them.
If you're talking about weird clown music I don't know what's up with that but if you're talking about the elevator music in the beginning that's an indicator that what you're watching is probably from 2018 or earlier the elevator music is a dead giveaway that what you are watching is an old video being re-uploaded because this channel isn't just satisfied with regurgitating the same subjects over and over again they literally give you the same video for a second time when it's out of date now
I wouldn't say Saren was 'tricked'. He just realized it was the only way he had left to fight Sovereign and took the opportunity.
How else do you beat GLaDOS without redirecting the missiles? That’s how you beat her normally.
I thought that is how you beat her. Was there another way?
No there isn’t, this is a ridiculous entry, albeit classic WhatCulture.
Does Glados qualify for this list? Redirecting the rockets isn't exactly tricking her and I'm pretty sure that is the intended method to beating her.

Wait, that's not how you're supposed to beat GlaDos normally?
Yeah it's literally the only way to do this. This was a bad entry.
That's exacty what I thought
@@Jeremyfranklyseveral of these are bad entries. A readily available option that is built into the game isn't "tricking" anything
I didn't know there was another way.

As well as the backup voice actor for Scar and Rasputin. He also voiced King Triton in the prequel since the old actor was too sick to do it.
The same guy voiced robotnik in Sonic SATAM
You're suppose to kill Glados using Portals. It isn't "tricking her" when that's the intended way to fight her.
I'm sure the next video with this topic will just feature the entirety of BG3 Act 2. Almost all bosses on that act can be defeated by pure dialogue.
Yeah, I was wondering where Malus or Thisobald Thorm were. But I guess they couldn't include them because they needed the space for yet another FromSoftware game, as they do in, like, every video.
The first thing that came to mind was yurgir when I read the title of this video lol.
Maybe they were staying away from it because it’s still pretty new. I was expecting at least one of those too
It wasn't until years later I realised you could actually fight Saren before his final form on that platform.
Should have mentioned the Grey Prince from Oblivion. Tell him he's a vampire and skip a hard fight AND get invited into the Dark Brotherhood
Technically he's not killing himself.
Technically not a method of trickery.
He is shocked to the core about the truth of his origins, and an alternative means to defeat him. As a result, he loses the will to fight, as well as his will to live on, as he sees himself as a soulless abomination.
