realistically, the chances of kawhi being healthy r super low, harden is at this point in his career inconsistent as we saw last year and russ is super old, close to retirement and someone who just averaged 10pts a game. PG actually did have a really good regular season where his numbers are about what a max guy should be. If he was 28, he should and would get the max 100%. Problem is he's 34 going on 38 when the contract ends.

It's obvious that Kawhi was using the Lakers as a backup/leverage against the Clippers since it was uncertain if they could get that second star he demanded. Only Lakers fans would take it as him having it out for them.
It wasn't a secret either. The Lakers knew the risks of waiting, but given the upside (a possible dynasty), they had to take the gamble.

As a spurs fan and looking back at it, Kawhi seemed to have screwed over a lot of teams just to get to L.A… he could have been the man on both the spurs or especially Toronto (I thought he was so dumb for leaving) …..but him leaving in the long run just helped us get wemby in some way …. In the end he ended up really doing himself in Mix that with injuries and that’s a wrap , Clips ain’t gonna get anywhere with their current lineup, bout as bad as they’re show series 😂

If you're wondering why Clippers refused to help Warriors, it's because they have bullied them for years. Ironically, it was the Clipper's fault to begin with: 1) Dubs returned to relevancy because Clippers didn't take them seriously in 2012-13 season, 2) Dubs got Griffin ejected from a game, hurting Clipper's feelings and nearly pushing them to a panic Melo trade, and 3) it took losing Game 1 for Clippers to finally take Dubs seriously, and all it did was made Dubs champions the following season. Clippers knew that any form of tanking would result in an automatic no. 1 pick for Thunder, and Warriors were trying to lure them into a tank trap by using their sentimental feelings of their former savior Chris Paul as a sweetener. Clippers are a very gullible franchise, only caring about wanting to be loved, respected and worshiped like Lakers, and their personal emotions have gotten in the way of business many a time over. Sure they'll miss the playoffs, but at least Clippers won't be alone at the bottom, which is what they were thinking when they backed off - they were *not* going to help other teams at their expense anymore, let alone a rival they helped create champions out of.
This is actually the *third* time they botched an era. Elton Brand was the first, after a one-season run in 2006 where they reached 2nd round. Clippers were planning for a Brand-Baron Davis combination in 2008-09 season, only for Brand to ditch Los Angeles for the Philadelphia 76ers; strike one. Strike two was Lob City era, which is well known to everyone now. Strike three is this, mimicking the Brand era in some ways. Three strikes yer out. Now they've become a barnstorming franchise, forced to sign troublemakers, damaged goods and twilighting players, all the while serving as a playoff talent showcase for other teams to take interest in. No need to work with your rivals, just pick up the Clippers; no picks, cash or draft rights required, just the worst contracts, draft busts and injury prone players you have.
The Nets trade is still worse, especially after this year. The Nets literally gave the Celtics two main players in their championship run with their mind boggling trade. The Clippers however made a multitude of bad decisions that put them in a worse situation for the long run, but if we just compare the trades, the Nets one is worse in my opinion

Hell trade him for someone like Tobias Harris straight up would have been better, atleast he could be traded for assets.
It's hard to imagine how stupid you have to be to think not getting Moody, Wiggins and a 1st-round pick, instead of getting nothing, is a smart move. They could have traded Wiggins if they needed to get under the apron. There was still a lot of flexibility for them to solve the cap problems. But to say what they did was a smart move is absolute insanity!

PG didn't want to opt in to that 1 year 46 million dollar deal with the Clippers that he would have to do to make the trade with the warriors possible. PG had final say on that and he said No thank you and move east.

I'm almost 100% sure the Clippers could have had Moody, Wiggins, CP3 and the 2027 1st-rounder for George... but instead they decided it would be better to get NOTHING! I have always rooted for the Clippers, because they're the ultimate underdog, but this failure cements them as the worst franchise in the history of ANY professional sport, and it's by a landslide!
At the time a trading for PG was the best move for the Clippers, you can't just be like, "oh but they traded shai so it was dumb and stupid." (talking to other commenters) Obviously with 20/20 hindsight that trade looks unbearable, but that's only because the absurd development of Shai's game as a result of the trade and his partnership with CP3 on the Thunder. During the 18-19 season Shai was averaging 10.8ppg off the bench behind Lou Williams 🤦♂, and by the next year with CP3 in OKC the dude went to averaging 19/4/5. He's an absolute dawg and will only get better, while the Clippers front office has just been burning a hole in their wallet for YEARS and not getting any better.

i don't think they are so 'dead'. a couple of good decisions here and there, getting a couple of good players, a bit of luck, and they would be back already. we thought the 76ers, the nets would have never bounce back from their bad contracts, but boom, a few windows in, they aren't in such mud anymore.
The fact they gave a player, who wasn't even their roster yet to add insult to injury, so much power over such personnel decisions, is mind boggling, making it their own god damn fault their future is ruined. No matter how good a player is, being able to make any type of proper decision about anything other than the right move on the court/field is something completely different. Players shouldn't pick who their new boss is, they shouldn't pick who their new team mate is. It never leads to anything.
I am honestly glad that Indiana never gave in to the whole PG with AD or bust thing. Just fucking hoop and let the decisions over to the people in the FO and coaching who actually know what they are doing. His own trade tree has indirectly led this team to having Haliburton, so I am happy.

I don’t understand the last few years of wanting Kawahi. It’s not like he’s super popular like a LeBron/Steph/KD. Dude is always injured. One thing you can guarantee with him is that he’ll be hurt in the post season. I don’t understand Clips extending him over PG.
There are those who are always 'injured' at the wrong times. The Clippers hitched their wagons to two of them and reaped the rewards. Porzingis is cut from the same cloth, imagine if the Celtics had to rely on him in the playoffs instead of him being the 5th best player (maybe). Unfortunate injuries happen, but some guys seem to be so 'unfortunate' I question training and preparation. Heart matters: guts, fortitude, whatever you want to call it.
