Fellow New Yorker here ! Dude I was at B&H with a friend who just got into photography. I went to pick up a bag and you were checking out right next to me . I’ve since shown my friend your videos and he’s watched them all!! You’re rad man!

@@FaizalWestcott I didn’t want to be like hey omg I love your videos at the checkout counter at B&H but you’re right . Would have been cool haha . Welcome to NYC ! I’m out in Staten Island. I shoot weddings but aiming to shoot street on film in the city for a personal project I’m working on . If you host an event or something I’ll look out for it and pop in or something like that . Or if you’re trying to make friends in the city we can link and shoot homie ✌🏼

Wonderful! I also live in NYC, if you ever want to take some shots in Harlem / Washington heights / upper east side - let me know
The crazy part of NYC is not only the 5 boroughs but each one looks completely different based on the time of day / night.
I’d definitely suggest going to flushing , queens in general , Astoria and the Bronx.
There is so much more than regular manhattan
Hope you’re open to meetups with aspiring artists/ photographers and see ya soon !

Welcome to the city - I lived there for 12 years or so back in the late 1980's to the late 90's. Brooklyn, Lower east side and the west side. I love going back to the east village and the lower east side - a lot of great...and not so great memories - I still find the area so photogenic especially since gentrification hasnt completely sucked the ethnicity and life out of these neighborhoods. I'm out on Long Island now but still work in the city - weekends I like to go in - Tribeca is also a great area to check out - I worked there back in the 90's as well - so much great history south of canal street if you know where to look. Enjoy!

Intro really resonates with me. I just moved out at 20 years old. I lived two hours away from Stockholm in a mid size city for my whole life, and two years ago I met my now girlfriend after graduation. Of course, that meant I would be in Stockholm pretty frequently but I always felt like an outsider. I couldnt explore the city all the way through and it wasn’t my home.
Fast forward to now, I still feel like an outsider. Impostor syndrome? I don’t know. But I like it here and I cant wait to take more photos here. I’ll feel like a part of the city some day, it’s only been a month so far.
Great vid Faizal, greetings from Stockholm

Congrats on expanding your arsenal with the Osmo, Faizal! It's a great piece of kit for sure. That being said, I've always loved your studio segments because it forms a break where it's like having a chat over coffee with you. Those studio segments form a solid touchstone for the viewer and you.
The Osmo is fun and gives a "walk with Faizal" vibe and has its place., but with the motion, changing settings, and cuts, I don't see it as "instead of", but rather "another tool for the story you tell. IMHO, the studio shots have never felt stale from the viewer standpoint, and I've been watching since the early days.
Great video and share, as always! Love your ongoing work!

I think if you are a photographer or have the ambitions to be one, living in NYC can be an intangible experience.... the big challenge becomes in not "following" what other people do.. finding your own niche.. seen and experiencing the city with your own touch, sensibility..

LOL to "I have been shooting way to close to my face". Wonder if the wide angle adapter for the DJI Pocket 3 will help, But OTH, the wide angle may make your forward shooting video 'too wide'? I, too, ordered a DJI Pocket 3 for the same setup but didn't like the no-hand left situation. So returnee it to B&H without opening the box.. maybe I will buy again if someone comes up with a backpack strap/chest mount solution. Congrats on the move!
