Thank goodness someone had the foresight to take this wonderful footage back in 1985.

Such an upbeat tune to see the history of business and trades being taxed out of existence, then outsourced.

Terrific tribute to the Works, the memory of which will last as long as steam engines draw breath. Ironically, more GWR locomotives are preserved and working than any other pre-1948 company and heritage railways great and small keep the GWR flame burning. How refreshing to find a TH-cam video featuring a professional broadcaster. First class job.

Not sure when it was, it may have been about 1983 my primary school had a trip to the works I can remember the guide walking us all across these over head walkways where you could see the sparks and the work going on below the thing I remember was the Cadbury chocolate vending machine it was amazing to see.

A truly interesting film. I visited the works in the 1970's, and have often wondered what was on the site of A shop. A much appreciated film. Yes the Tories ruined British industry in their misguided attempt A so called progress.

To throw away a place that had a concentration of vital skills for our economy? Vandalism on a national scale.

Great production but unfortunately the music is too loud and over powering it is the wrong choice, as it is too jolly and upbeat, for such a great historical part of British Railway Industry.

Younghead thanks for your feedback. This is the music used for the whole series, so is appropriate but I understand where you are coming from. Cheers, Paul

a shop replaced with houses fucking disgracefull A shop should still be standing. iam a staunch steam/deisel shunter] enthusiast and do not agree with the mindless stupidity destruction of railway buildings and any thing to do with steam. or any thing railway except electrification i cannot abide electrics i loath them i hate everything to do with them full stop
