I like the way how she teaches Korean recipes to foreigners! She don't modify the recipe! even though it's difficult and unique method or rare ingredients required. :) i think that's why she is popular!
@@riyadali4082 woah, no need to be rude. she modified it only because she couldn’t acquire korean grapes. however, korean grapes CAN be found in korean grocery stores in the states but it’s usually only when they’re in season. I’m sure the reason she couldn’t find them in the stores at the time is because chuseok is early september and the time when korean grapes is in season doesn’t begin until the end of september. if you take that into account plus the shipping time, they wouldn’t arrive until at least a month later. with that said, had the two times coincided, she wouldn’t have modified the recipe. try to be a bit more kind with your comments, my guy, no need for unneccessary statments such as “smfh” .. we’re all here for the same purpose anyway. 😊

I have an unforgettable memory with 송편. When I was in Korea and it was 추석 holiday, I went to a traditional market to buy 송편. But, because that was my first time buying 송편 and my korean was not so good, I just gave 10.000 Won to the seller and she gave me a plastic bag full of assorted 송편. I ate those 송편 for my lunch and dinner for some days, but I was happy and didn't feel any regrets because the 송편 was so tasty and delicious. Now I have already come back to my hometown, and I always miss 송편 whenever the Mid-Autumn Festival is about to come. 송편 만들기를 가르쳐주셔서 감사드립니다, 망치님. 기회가 된다면 한 번 도전해 볼게요 🙂🙂

What a gorgeous recipe! I really wish I can make it someday! In India we make something strikingly similar, it's called 'modak'. These are also steamed rice cakes and the outer rice flour coating is made pretty much the same way as songpyeon, but for the sweet filling, we use coconut, jaggery and cardamom. It is made for an important festival called Ganesh Chaturthi. Glad to learn this songpyeon recipe from you, it's so mouthwatering and pretty! Almost too pretty to eat! Thanks for sharing Maangchi! :)
My grandmother always told us when making Songpyun. You have to make Songpyun pretty to have a pretty daughter. I looked forward to seeing the songpyeon my mom made. My mom's Songpyeon is...It was normal.😄😄😄😄
Hahahaha..... I am sure you are pretty, just being humble. Being humble was taught while growing up from a young child in most of Korean family. But it's funny you checked out of your mom's Song Pyon. Lol. Thank you for reminding me of my childhood Song pyon making memory, I too heard from my grandma saying that. 😊🥰😅

Hi maangchi! Nice recipes! It's very similar to our south Indian, Tamil recipes especially the rice based sweet recipes. We make something similar with coconut sweet filling and steam cook them. It's really interesting to read about your south Korean queen Heo Hwang-Ok, who is believed to have come to Korea from Ayatha, which is now called kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, south India. But it's misunderstood as present day ayodhya in North India. So many korean words and tamil words are similar!!! We too use many pickled vegetables and also lots of red pepper powder :)

When you say "Open sesame", the other two guys - beans and pine nuts - shush the sesame guys and say "Don't open, let's see if Maangchi is lucky enough to find you!"
In Bangladesh, we celebrate "Nabanna" as celebration of harvest. We make many types of rice cakes using the rice which is newly harvested. As Bangladesh has 6 seasons, we celebrate it in late-autumn (middle of October and November). I think Chuseok has some similarity with Nabanna too and I'm happy about that! :D
I always really enjoy watching your videos, Maangchi. You always keep everything clean and hygiene, and those hands which skillfully cook foods with homemade-like taste. That's very nice.

This might sound odd but my mom has that same plastic wrap 😂 she always brags at how she got it from Costco and it's lasted her for years.
Funny cuz I noticed it also I love the large plastic wrap! continuous plastic easy access...
I had to google the raspberry beans. I've never seen them before!
In the United States deep south, we call raspberry beans cranberry beans. They are easy to grow!
Were those beans already tender in the raw? Or do you think they were boiled first in their pods, the way edamame is boiled?
@@DonyaLane I think they got soft while being steamed.
In my country we call them borlotti beans
Love your videos and your voice is also sooooooo sweet

I always really enjoy watching your videos, Maangchi. You always keep everything clean and hygiene, and those hands which skillfully cook foods with homemade-like taste. That's very nice. Thank you for always giving more and more Korean food recipes! I really appreciate the efforts and I love your recipes! Cheers! :)
