Go to wild Rotface coin Bouncing Blade 3 Mana full board PogChamp PogChamp PogChamp On a more serious note though, they're releasing a lot of cards with large upsides and deathrattle downsides. I could see the Deathknight Shaman being played quite a lot just because his Hero Power is basically 2 Mana Silence and upgrade. Things like Bomb Squad, Rattling Rascal, Big Time Racketeer, etc. could all see play in this theorhetical "Upgrade Button Shaman"
Rotface > Bouncing Blade > Shifter Zerus > kill Zerus > I Choose Death Upgrade Shaman does look really scary, especially since when you happen to get a bad roll you can always reroll it next turn if it survives. I think it'd probably go in another deck, like Jade/Elemental Shaman rather than being an Evolve Shaman build though.
I found your ratings EXTREMELY helpful last time around. I didn't agree with all of your impressions, but it's good to have someone to "bounce" ideas off of and you challenged my thinking in stimulating ways. All of the work you put in paid off. The scores may have been off, but the extra work running thought experiments you in a position to provide a better narrative about a thought process that looks at each card's value. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to your card reviews!
There are plenty of other powerful combos that you can pull off with Shadowreaper Anduin which are much more reliable than the one Trump mentioned in this video. One of them is using Shadowreaper Anduin and Raza earlier in the game, and then for 10 mana using these cards and hero power in this order: Void Form (2), Prophet Velen, Void Form (6), Radient Elemental, Void Form (10), Mind Blast (20), Void Form (24), Holy Smite (28), Void Form (32). 32 damage in one turn, gg
4 cards / 10 mana + 2 cards that aren't too bad by themselves for 13 mana as setup seems reasonable. And it's not the only win condition against classes that can't heal/armor up.
I like this combo and hope I get to try it out; I often run prophet Velen, mind blast, flash heal, and embrace the shadow (with two radiant elementals or since its wild Emperor Thaurissan being activators). By using Norshire cleric and wild pyromancers (circle of healing) to draw cards my combo is surprisingly consistent (often winning by other means I have in deck usually intended just to prolong game/ clear opponents board). With that said the combo your suggesting seems much more consistent and doesn't require the radiant elemental to do 28 damage (enough for most kills) btw. Although it might be hard to pull off on some levels since the card draw is less consistent in Raza deck, but Kazakus and generally good priest deck could easily make up difference. Cheep spells could also combo with Lyra, which would still give you back spells for later combo with Void Form!
3:50 Are we going to sit here and let Trump mock me? It is only a matter of time before the next twitch chatter is targeted. Take action while we still can. #TheMrDudeManSirMatters
Do you accept you punishment in form of being publicly mocked for assuming trump or anyone who knows a bit about the game is not aware that battlecries are the upside of frozen clone? :) Well deserved ;)
Imagine playing savannah highmane... AND THEN... IMAGINE... PLAYING TWO PLAY DEAD THAT WOULD BE 6+5 (Highmane) + 4X2 STATS (Both hienas) AND ALSO ANOTHER 2(4X2) STATS IN MORE HIENAS, MAKING THIS DEAL 35 IN STATS FOR ONLY *8* MANA
Koh this comment threw me for a loop, until I realized you weren't incorrectly naming the stats of minions, but instead making an equation for total stats, so 6+5+3(4×2)=35
And then in the next turn 2 times the 3 mana 3/3 that activates a deathrattle. Thats 28 stats for 6 mana after they aoe cleared the 4 small minions with a flamestrike in turn 8 with no mana left to ping the savanna highmane ;).
Random thought: The Howlfiend+Treachery+Spreading Madness/Defile (with Karakazam played on the previous turn to set up the Defile, perhaps?) wombo combo is probably better at crushing the hopes and dreams of combo decks than Gnome(s?)feratu is, because H+T+SM/D discards a lot of cards from your opponent's hand, where they are likely holding most of their combo cards (and good cards in general).
I always imagine dragons as being solitary, so it always seems strange to me how many Dragon card texts have draw card, discover card, get more dragons, fill board with whelps etc.
I'm a very casual f2p player. I push the boundary of being called a player, I just want to enjoy content, which is hard without being either good at arena or having a decent amount of time.
Joe Arena is your savior my dude. I paid $50 in whispers $20 in mean streets. The rest is all arena packs and gold. I have 23 packs and 3000 gold saved up from just doing an arena for my dailies.
Sadly, I'm crap at the game, the best I've got in arena is 7 wins, having said that, I barely have enough gold for arena, so my experience is limited. When I used to play the game most there were no expansions, so coming back to it gives quite limited views on what cards are good in arena as well.
To go a bit further on Bone Drake (and this is more Arena geared), there's currently 17 Dragons in the Standard meta pool (including Bone Drake itself) and of those 17 there's only 5 that could be considered "bad": (in no order) Twilight Drake, Book Wyrm, Midnight Drake, Faerie Dragon, and Scaled Nightmare. Even those "bad" ones are largely situational. But let's assume absolute worst case, that's still only 1/3 odds of a bad outcome, and the good outcome is a huge body minion. This is probably the best Rare in the set.
if you ask me, rattling rasca is really good with evolve shaman as it summons a token to build a wide board for evolve, you don't get the deathrattle with evolve and the rattling rascal has really low stats for the mana cost. Also 5 drops often have awkward stats to deal with for a lot of classes. It also works really well with Thrall's DK hero power as it'll be really consistent in terms of not getting the deathrattle once you play the death knight
You can think of Raza with anduin as hero power being a passive :every card deals 2 damage as well as its original effect. Which is mad value over time.
People are missing out on the true combo of Howlfiend. In wild format, Emperor Thaurissan while you have these cards in hand : C'Thun (preferably buffed up), Howlfiend, Treachery, Power Overwhelming, Summoning Portal. At 10 mana, play the Portal, play the Howlfiend, play Power Overwhelming, Treachery, then bombard their Howlfiend with C'Thun. Bye bye hand!
Acolyte is good because you can divine spirit + inner fire it, or any other of the many priest buffs, to make it live longer, and get more healing out of it.
8:40 The so called infinite damage effect was available before with Auctionmaster Beardo, Raza , Radiant and 2 shadow visions. It doesn't work because the timer runs out before you use the hero power enough times to kill your enemy (tested it). However the reason for that is Beardo taking too long to refresh the hero power. Maybe it works if voidform refreshes faster...but even then it's a terrible deck because well...2 copies in a highlander deck always spells trouble and frustration....
Well also Shadowreaper Anduin + Raza + Lyra... Sometimes you see these 10+ spell Lyra turns. But its VERY hard to get 2 radiants+lyra+anduin on board. Not really worth to try it for that combo.. You have most likely already lost before you get to play all those 4 cards, if you dont play radiants and Lyra early on. But still with some luck can cause some fun :D
The big thing that everyone seems to be missing about Shadow Essence is that if it hits a smaller minion it's still 5/5? I personally think that a 5/5 Stubborn Gastropod, an effectively 8/5 Tar Elemental, a 5/5 Giant Wasp--heck, even a 5 health Northshire Cleric that can trade effectively or a 5/5 Mana Geode that can survive more trades to pop out more crystals is a pretty good card.
Use Play Dead in a deck with that new legendary that causes deathrattles to trigger as battlecries for maximum Deathrattlage. Shadow Essence could be good with the medics (5/5 instead of 1/3) or the 0/5 that heals a radom friendly injured thing on start of turn.
12:40 Even if Howlfiend is the only minion in play (good luck with that in turn 9), you only hit it an average amount of 3 times and you need to play 3 cards for the combo so you don't even gain anything from it. If anything, doing a combo with *Defile* is much more practical and better as it can clear the board more effectively, hit howlfiend more often for 1 mana less on top of it.
It would be much better in any other class, as Priest has tons of healing (Even their hero power heals), so it's not great. And no, life restoration isn't a very good ability in card games, as it is only useful against 2 archetypes: Face Aggro and Non-OTK burn. Against all other archetypes, it is relatively marginal. In M:TG, lifegain cards weren't busted, and in that game, you can have infinite health! The only health restoration cards that were really good in Hearthstone were in classes that had little to none to begin with (Jinyu Waterspeaker and Hot Spring Guardian for Shaman, Antique Healbot for Warlock/Rogue [Yes I know it's neutral, but those were the only 2 classes who ran it], and Wickerflame Burnbristle for Paladin), so giving a health gain tool to a class which already has plenty of healing is not really needed.
Fallen sun cleric reminds me a lot of the 2/1-1/1 murloc+taunted slime (the name escapes me at the moment) Curious to see which will out perform in the aggro decks.
For howlfiend: How are you gonna hit it for 1 damage multiple times? Turn 6: Howlfiend + Treachery Turn 7: Kara Kazam + Defile. That's 3 1-damage hits + maybe 3 more if the opponent had something with 4 and 5 health, too. :3 (And if that's the case, you basically discard your opponents hand AND clear the board. It's like a weird reverse Deathwing.)
It would be interesting if they made a warlock card or hunter or shaman or priest that summons a 5/5 copy of random minion from the graveyard. If it has a battle cry trigger it, make it a 6 or 7 cost mana. Since it would trigger the Battle cry if they wanted to go more deep into it they could do Deathrattle as well triggering on resummon as well.
Honestly, just use howlfend in a zoo deck where you are already dumping your hand by turn 3. Or use to buff clutchmother.. but I suspect that option is bad.
You forget that you can pull 5/5 versions of small minions that have powerful effects. A 5/5 Radiant Elemental is harder to take down than a 2/3 in a Lyra deck.
Is Fallen Sun Cleric an undead Liadrin? If so I think that gives Liadrin two records. Most art of the same character in the game and best undead waifu.
Shadow essence seems decent for a malygos priest deck if that was a thing. You could do something like radiant elemental + shadow essence + mind blast x2 + holy smite x2 for a 34 damage 6 card combo.
You can just Mirage Caller the radiant, so there's only need for running 2 shadow visions, and praying you don't draw both of them before you set up the Shadowreaper, but have to draw 1 of them before you play Raza.
e h seems like a really bad combo because a lot of conditions must be met, most likely the combo will work 1/100 games because everything must go right
based on the talk at 6:55 shadow essence, obsidian, barnes, y'shaarj deck with res features. if you played hunter Barnes y'shaarj you get the idea. combine with inner fire combo and spells that summon, kill, or steal creatures that is ameme worthy deck at least.
I think Shadowreaper Anduin is too clunky, and the hero power is even not good, because you have to pay two mana to use it after playing a card to refresh it. So I think the new priest won't see play.
Shadow Essence will at the very least be a chance for glory with Whispers' least appreciated meme God, Y'shaarj. Not sure that it would be better than Yshaarj Rogue even with Eternal Servitude, but I'm sure some brave soul will find out.
well i think kripp put it best about frozen clone, right now after this set hits even if mage pulls off the glacial mysters 3 out of the 5 secrets can be crushed by playing a weak minion (firefly for instance) so your opponent gets a firefly in play 2 in the hand and yours turns into a sheep..... wow
No one gonna talk about if on turn 9 and you have rot-gut in your hand, and top deck a mountainfire armor (or just have one in general) you get a guaranteed legendary minion? (Even if it will have one less health than normal)
Howlfiend could be good. If you tap at turn 2 them summon at turn 3 it could be possible to finish the quest by turn 5 or 6. Then again i just realised if you complete the quest early opponent can force you to discard it if you dont summon it on turn 3. Yeah... we will see.
Hey Trump. I was listening to the Acolyte of Agony portion and had a thought. Doesn't the Lifesteal effect act as a soft spell taunt on that card, since your opponent may want to avoid healing you? Is it worth considering the value of that, as people have requested spell taunt in the past? Thanks
But it doesn't keep the opponent from killing you on the next turn with spells, which I belive is the thing behind the spell taunt concept. They may want to prevent a long-term value heal, but I think they wouldn't mind thowing in a Frostbolt for that
Trump is getting more sarcastic every video lol
which is fine by me :D
LMAO the warlock cards are so bad that they made treachery to give them to your opponent.
warlock transformed from one of the best classes in Hearthstone to a meme class thank you bizzard
Warlock in 2017=old Shaman
I actually LOLd at the howlfiend treachery spreading madness combo. I'm gonna try that.
CrowNova there always has been ATLEAST 1 meme class. Shaman than Priest , than Hunter+Paladin and now Warlock. Thats just how the game works
Bittertide Hydra, treachery, Spreading madness

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but I fuckin love the art style of this new expansion
If you have Raza in your deck you cant run 2 Shadow Visions, therefore no infinite effect.

I totally lost it at that part
6:54 5/5 Ragnaros/the Lightlord seems like something anyone would want. Also on that list, Y'shaarj, among other good persistent effect minions.
WufeiLord lightlord is a paladin card though
True. Also of note, the new card Meat Wagon has good synergy with it, too. Might have a place in an Inner Fire deck?

Deathspeaker looks sick in arena. Free trades for 3 mana, with a 2/4 on board. Pretty good.
Two decks that actually sound fun this expansion:
Rot face warrior
Rascal warlock

"Warlock quest 5 star"
-_- I think the star system needs an upgrade
Warlock Quest does not need more discard (well it sorta does but), it needs more discard lovers (aka Zavas and Silverware golem.)
Howlfiend => Treachery => Well placed defile for 3-6 hits
Shitty combo, but troll potential is rather big.
I'm a simple man...I see Card Review, I click Like

Finally my Quest Dragon Priest will have another goodie :3
Something you should consider is mentioning how the cards may effect budget players. Like: "X" card could be a budge replacement for "Y" card
disguised toast will have pulled off shadow reaper anduin infinite dmg the day the expansion comes out
I think drakkari defender is to cut down on getting white eyes and that 7/8 from that guy that doesn't want you in his jungle.
''That guy that doensn't want you in his jungle.'' lmao
Well also Shadowreaper Anduin + Raza + Lyra... Sometimes you see these 10+ spell Lyra turns. But its VERY hard to get 2 radiants+lyra+anduin on board. Not really worth to try it for that combo.. I think a good rule of thumb is that if a card is good with treachery, its not something you want to play in any other deck.
Well you still play 6 mana for a 5/5 which is bad... not even in arena this card will be good.
Play Dead also synergize with high cost cards because you can combo easier without wasting mana on a 3/3 in the mid/late game.
12:40 Even if Howlfiend is the only minion in play (good luck with that in turn 9), you only hit it an average amount of 3 times and you need to play 3 cards for the combo so you don't even gain anything from it. ahh i need the dust should i disenchant rotface?
Fallen sun cleric reminds me a lot of the 2/1-1/1 murloc+taunted slime (the name escapes me at the moment)
Curious to see which will out perform in the aggro decks.
I was hoping Jens would put Lakkari Sacrifice next to Trump's head when he talked about not being affected by the past in giving out ratings.
For howlfiend:
How are you gonna hit it for 1 damage multiple times? Turn 6: Howlfiend + Treachery Turn 7: Kara Kazam + Defile. That's 3 1-damage hits + maybe 3 more if the opponent had something with 4 and 5 health, too. :3 (And if that's the case, you basically discard your opponents hand AND clear the board. It's like a weird reverse Deathwing.)
Professor Ztar Easier to just curve a good twisting nether into the spreading madness combo.
I have horrible luck with Spreading madness, so I just won't consider that combo. Too often, no matter the board state, I end up taking 5 damage. = -=
It would be interesting if they made a warlock card or hunter or shaman or priest that summons a 5/5 copy of random minion from the graveyard. Shadow Essence makes Shadow Priest a more consistent deck having just Prophet Velen as a minion. Ressing him twice as well potentially.
Trump is being so savage with his chat.
Shadow essence seems decent for a malygos priest deck if that was a thing. You could do something like radiant elemental + shadow essence + mind blast x2 + holy smite x2 for a 34 damage 6 card combo.
That "kill me" on the laugh
Guys just a question.
Why everyone talks about using Raza with the new hero card for priest and then use 2 shadow vision and 2 elementals????
Stefano Martinelli try to use your Brian lol
Stefano Martinelli Because you can kill your opponent in one turn.
Draw one radiant, draw one shadow visions, raza can now trigger.
You have a brain, use it
You can just Mirage Caller the radiant, so there's only need for running 2 shadow visions, and praying you don't draw both of them before you set up the Shadowreaper, but have to draw 1 of them before you play Raza.
e h seems like a really bad combo because a lot of conditions must be met, most likely the combo will work 1/100 games because everything must go right

i think the 3 mana 2/8 taunt is actually a buff to evolve, and a nerf to devolve
Frozen clone.. I'm hyped!
I'm already raging about that new mage secret and the expansion isn't even out yet. Ugh. Can we get a better Secret Eater please?
RIP TheMrDudeManSir, damn Trump you can't do that, the man has a family (probably)
Deathspeaker + Bouncing Blade + Mortal Strike to Deathspeaker
GG
well i think kripp put it best about frozen clone, right now after this set hits even if mage pulls off the glacial mysters 3 out of the 5 secrets can be crushed by playing a weak minion (firefly for instance) so your opponent gets a firefly in play 2 in the hand and yours turns into a sheep..... wow
Shadowreaper Anduin is the ultimate counter to quest rogue XD
Wild combo: Rotface + Bouncing Blade
16:30 Don't forget treachery for Rattling Rascal
Problem with Drakkari defender... for 2 more mana, you have earth elemental with 5 more attack
No one gonna talk about if on turn 9 and you have rot-gut in your hand, and top deck a mountainfire armor (or just have one in general) you get a guaranteed legendary minion? (Even if it will have one less health than normal)
honestly though, if lightwarden gets buffed from lifesteal too then im pretty sure lightwarden/buff priest is gonna make a ripple in the pond.
Howlfiend could be good. If you tap at turn 2 them summon at turn 3 it could be possible to finish the quest by turn 5 or 6. Then again i just realised if you complete the quest early opponent can force you to discard it if you dont summon it on turn 3. Yeah... we will see.
Did trump just forget about the warlock quest when reviewing the 3 mana 3/6? Or did he just not think that minion is enough to make it work?
About Play Dead versus Stalker, don't you always talk about mana cost being too high? 7 mana Highmane + 4/4 or wait two turns to play an extra 3/3?
Shadow Reaper Anduin was printed as the hard counters quest rogue fyi
They may want to prevent a long-term value heal, but I think they wouldn't mind thowing in a Frostbolt for that
New shattered sun seems worse than Lance Carrier. I don't think he saw much play?
rotface also work with the 1mana 1/3 that hits everything you play for 1 (forgot the name)
I've finding Trump funnier and funnier the more I watch him.
