*The Lich King:* I am Arthas. I am lord of the dead. I am the imperator of ice. I am the paragon of pestilence. I am king of all you see befor- *The Black Knight:* I'M INVINCIBLE!
Torbjörn Lindholm dude, u do realize that it is pretty cheap to create extra TH-cam accounts to promote your channel? One can see that the other channels only subscribed to you and each other. What a coincidence.
It would be broken. Arfus is good right now, as is. A 4 mana 2/2 draw a card is bad, but as trump mentioned, Death Knight cards are roughly equal to dream cards -- and dream cards are mostly better than any cards that are in the set. A 4 mana 7/6, a 2 mana 3/4 with spell immunity, a 0 mana +5/+5 or 0 mana 5 damage AoE... Draw any of these, and you're a happy man. Death Knight cards are better than ''draw a card'' in most, if not all, scenarios. I could see some people running aggro Arfus to try and highroll army of the dead to push for the final bits of damage.
I doubt it would have been broken but I guess we might see a glimpse of such a scenario with the "Build a beast" heropower. The other suggestion I would have for Arfus is that it stays as a 4 mana 2/2, but has charge. It would still be slow, but at least you could get the card out much faster. A charging Arfus would also be possible with the "Build a beast" heropower, but since stonetusk boar costs 1 mana, it's total mana cost would be 5 and personally I'd say fuck that noise.
Problem is that lifesteal is only good in a general sense when you already have or are capable of taking back board control. It does not help in regaining board control since it directly impacts the stats of a minion, and if that minion doesn't have taunt, its just gonna be a bad minion. Might as well run earthen ring farseer or Voodo doctor or other similar minions instead of these lifesteal ones. They have the advantage of being able to heal other minions, as well as just being better in most cases for the same mana cost. See the crappy muloc 1 drop for an example of one of the worst possible lifesteal designs. Worse than tinyfin as a body, murlocs do not care about their own hero health, murlocs that are in a position where they do not have board control and need a 1/1 with lfiesteal have already lost the game. All of that makes it pretty garbage despite having the murloc tag. On the flip side, Obsidian Statue is hella OP for midrange/aggro matchups because of the high health, moderate attack, and most importantly, taunt. The problem is that many many lifesteal minions are lower cost minions with horrible stats for their cost
I feel like what they are doing is printing loads of filler cards with poor or fair stats so that a year from now, or even two years from now, we have a slow meta again, if they just constantly print cards like these. Like reverse powercreeping.
Hejira#2854 Blizzard always shows some of the highlights first. With a few exeptions, the worst, most boring filler cards are shown or released last. So it really isnt as bad as it might seem.
As someone who has played MTG for over a decade, i can gaurantee you lifesteal will be a relevant mechanic. If it were undercosted it would be busted as hell. Minions that heal you, as neutrals? remember that rag lightlord is played EXCLUSIVELY because it heals you. Minion healing is incredibly powerful, especially in classes with buffs.
I'm loving Tainted Zealot. I had the same opinion. It'll definitely be run in mid-range shaman. One of my favorite cards from the set -- some of my favorite art, too.
The enchanter is nice with that new warlock demon that deals 1 damage to the enemies minions at the end of your turn. Makes it deal 2, so it's like getting a freeze-less Blizzard at the end of your turn with the other downside of it costing more than 6 mana, but the plus side of potentially staying on the board for more than one turn which then makes it a sort of Flamestrike. :3 Oh yeah, there's also that 5 mana 4/4 that buffs all the minions in your hands at the end of your turn in Paladin, and Grimy Gadgeteer in Warrior. Those could be fun with the Enchanter. :3
It could also just be the start of a contrl meta Maybe these cards don't work now but 2 sets later especially once the cancer sets leave these will help.
Yeah... the only deck that looks like it will be for sure strong is the control paladin with their death knight. That ability fits right in to a already fairly strong archetype that lacked good finishing power. I expect burn/control mage to still be king. Nothing was printed to tell me otherwise.
The Lich King seems awesome. Definitely will get him. I just wonder where exactly he goes. His spells are very powerful...and some are generally great...but some are lackluster against Control and some are lackluster against Aggro. I think he (and Arfus) was designed with the most all-around suite of powers to fit almost anywhere so I wonder where he will really shine.
I would put medium odds on kazakus warlock becoming a thing this expansion. Sporting cards like Black knight... possibly a return of big game hunter, maybe a slime harrison if the meta goes a weapon heavy route. With the inclusion of a warlock hero, maybe some big taunt walls, very small odds on krul possibly entering the game and a possible warlock hero card being used. Think Reno lock without reno, with more demons and very heavy control focus. Kazakus most of the time will probably be used for sheeping but since it can summon demons it does work out well with the hero card.
I wish Trump would properly explain if you don't run out of cards or need a combo. ANY cards you burn are the same as the cards on the button of your deck you wouldn't have drawn. It just switches around what you draw so it doesn't matter.
"There are no good 'end of turn' effects" I think the goods could actually explode with that card. Grimy Gadgeteer was always just lacking a bit of strenght. The paladin one that buffs your minions in the hand at end of turn would also like to double its effect. Also, don't forget about the 6/6 that gives you a random demon. Sure, none of those cards are in the meta right now, but they could turn around.
8:38 Did Jens edit out the answer to the question by accident or did he just ask the audience? It seems something is missing here. 11:25 I think he meant the new Bolvar, seeing as the old Bolvar is only in wild. Trump doesn't deal in wild.
Mmm. I think Furnacefire Collosus' draw is not simply absorbing just any extra weapon. I think you'd want to specifically include a weapon in your deck that has higher stats than normal in order to make the most use, things like a Cursed Blade or even a Molten Blade, something that is great for the minion to absorb but that you aren't bothered if it is absorbed.
The reason they are very *very* careful with lifesteal is, as donais said, because "Neutral healing is basically warlock healing, so we need to balance it around the warlock hero power"
Also Skelemancer is basically the threat of comboing like ancient watcher or brann. You could clone it which would add another 2/2 you don't want to kill and from there on things might get ugly. The problem is just that it's even slower then then watcher and brann.
You know, call me insane, but I think Deathaxe Punisher might have a place in Warlock with Blood Queen Lanathel. So people are afraid of discarding Lanathel if you draw her early. Which makes sense, Warlock needs healing and suddenly throwing it out the window sucks. But what if you use Punisher to buff it into a 3/8 on turn 4. Play it turn 5. And then play your discard cards on turns 6 and up? I mean if you follow up Lanathel with Lakkari Felhound, you suddenly are gaining 5 health each turn and have a big taunt in the way. That seems like a good way to stabilize. With cards like defile, drain soul, and any other anti aggro/healing you put in your deck you might be able to make that work. Renolock versus Pirates were usually determined by if you had Reno on turn 6 so I think it could actually work. I might be just hoping for Warlock to be good this expansion, but Warlock decks are rather slow already, so who knows?
Black knight was my first legendary, and soon he shall make his glorious return to all of my decks. Not because I'm a noob, but lets face it. We are all day one crafting Arthas.
I think everyone is massively over rating the Lich King. Ysera had almost exclusively good results, Ysera awakens was kinda bad if you are ahead but you would just pocket it for if you started to fall behind. The Lich King is pretty much only going to see use in slow decks... which actually tend to hit fatigue a lot... and 2 of the cards can very quickly push you into fatigue with minimal gain. Army of the dead is basically only good in a deck with a lot more minions than spells. Anti Magic Shell is really expensive which results in it being kinda just okay. Doom Pact is worth it if you are desperate but may not actually end up saving you. Death Grip is about average. Obliterate is average. Its worth the downside but generally speaking, your deck should have enough removal that if you are needing this card, you are probably not doing to hot. Frostmourne, Death and Decay, and Death Coil are the only good cards. Absolutely no complaints here. Meanwhile Ysera's worst results are Laughing Sister, a well stated minion and Ysera Awakens, a card which if you are low could kill you but can often save your ass. Ysera awakens > Death and decay / Doom Pact most of the time. The Lich King has taunt which is a benefit in druid but in every other deck, effects like this you usually try to make stick around. The taunt makes it easier to deal with. Ysera also has way better stats than the lich king.
17:27 Well the thing about magic shell is that you can use it immediately after playing cairne or direhorn hatchling (as fatigue warrior) and your opponent can no longer polymorph/hex it guarantee'ing you get it back from n'zoth
i think skelemancer is really strong, theres no way for your opponent to deny it except for silence. theres no way for him to force you to trade it. in pally this should be really good
Maybe we will see a troll priest who runs copy your opponents deck + that discard the top 5 cards and summon all creatures. Wouldn't that be a fun time?
I like furnacefire in my midrange (more control) warrior because there are those matchups against really aggressive decks where I don't want to use my weapons any more except for face damage because I can't afford to get lower so getting value out of them by putting them into a cheap big minion is honestly really really good. Especially since in those matchups the opponent won't be running hard removal. Don't know what the meta will be yet but I'm definitely crafting this if I don't open it regardless.
I think 1 copy of Drakkari Enchanter could be run in some sort of control warlock deck, where you also run their new demon to consecrate the enemy every turn, as well as ysera and/or the lich king
In a Hunter deck that deals with Death Rattle and Beasts, Arfus + play dead on turn 5 could start you getting those DK card to potentially swing the game or wreck the Mage with Anti Magic Shell that much sooner. if you can some how next turn have it around and any beast buff cards... Arfus may just be a hunter DKs best pet lol.
What about the Wicked skeleton + unleash the hounds in the hunter deck? for 7 mana you could get a pretty big minion on board + some board clear if not full board clear.
Would Wicked Skeleton gain stats from a board clear via Doomsayer? Doomsayer activates at the start of your turn, so perhaps it would be pretty good in that setup
On wretched tiller: isn't that explanation wrong? the text read whenever this minion attacks, without regards to the target, so that means if the minion attacks another minion, it will steal deal 2 damage to face, right? Which would mean that if you get at least one attack Wretched Tiller plays more or less like leper gnome (probably worse than that though since it can be destroyed by any deal one damage effect)
Furnacefire Colossus + That Fork Minion. Instead of equipping your over costed fiery waraxe, just feed it to this thing. Its not that good unless you somehow have a flood your opponent is forced to hard remove, because this will basically just get hard removed.
Deadscale kinight can actually be included in murloc shaman (structure similar with current murloc paladin) with the Windlord and ice fishing, and play a corpsetaker in turn 4 with Taunt, Lifesteal, Divine Shield, and Windfury
What.. "Everything else isnt really worth it" What about Grimestreet enforcer? Or I could see myself comboing that with Ethereal arcanist as well... Not a very good combo I guess, but not too bad either. Say I got iceblock, I can play turn 7 Enchanceter and Ethereal Arcanist, meaning I get a 7/7 Ethereal Arcanist on board... 7mana 8/12 board. If both cards survive the next turn, then you suddenly have a 11/11 ethereal arcanist... Pretty likely for a 7/7 to survive a turn.
Everyone lifesteal is not brand new, it is in most other card games! The lifesteal cards are not easy to pull off, you have to attack with them! It seems like Hearthstone is like 3 years behind most of the other card games who have been using lifesteal mechanics for a long time now!
Lich King can be kill by his own man, black knight, how ironic must it be to World of Warcraft that his own sword which grant him all the power kill him in the end
i gonna be testing a classical face hunter it seems the pieces are there to build it, to be at less good for the start of the expansion before everyone start putting the anti-aggro cards also big mid-range hunter seems pretty good with the lichking + hunter deathknight, this goona be interesting
Not that I play HS any more. But I wish they would do what Elder Scrolls Legends does where you can cast BattleCry effects on the card itself. It's so much more fluid and so much more powerful. Makes really weak battlecry minions considerably more playable.
It seems like blizzard is trying to lower the power curve a bit this set, which is cool. The problem is people will just run older more powerful cards that are still available. There are some great cards here like the new hero cards, but a whole lot of meh effect meh stated cards. I guess they add something to arena though, so theres that.
Keening banshee to me has a secret use you use it to try empty your deck faster so you can refill your deck with specific cards for those perfect deck combos eg if your playing jade druid you use Keening banshee to empty your deck so you can fill it with jades and use auctioneer to create a draw engine or warrior with deadmans hand maybe cycle either all your late game legendaries or create a sheild block fatigue combo where you just cycle shield blocks and oracles to fatigue your opponent down?
You dont get. It this is about using an empty to deck to cycle the cards of off the top with it using things like auctioneer and jade or cold light and deadmans to accelerate your board or mill and fatigue the opponent =.once you have the combo it really doesnt matter if you lose a execute because the combo is repeatable until you win and overwhelms or ignores their board. You wouldnt play the keening banshee until you have your combo and maybe have a few cards in your deck you need to clear to get an empty deck.
*The Lich King:* I am Arthas. I am lord of the dead. I am the imperator of ice. I am the paragon of pestilence. I am king of all you see befor-
*The Black Knight:* I'M INVINCIBLE!
But if he's invincible, then how can you see him?
docterfantazmo I got the beast in my sights!
Rip BGH, press F to pay respects.
Because invincible =/= invisible
+Andor Farkas exactly lol
Finally, I am so excited to see the whole review with the star rating later, and see how good you are at rating them this time... xD
Torbjörn Lindholm dude, u do realize that it is pretty cheap to create extra TH-cam accounts to promote your channel? One can see that the other channels only subscribed to you and each other. What a coincidence.
Chal Fish Well, technically yes but I did it mainly to get likes. xD
Well I have a screenshot of another of your channels that commented here but u did deleate that comment shortly after I answered here didn't you?
hi torb daddy

Ok, real talk, a Zombeast comprised of Arfus and the Snowflipper would be the most adorable undead to make.
It would also be a decent beast. If Arfus was a 3/3, it would have been a so much more favourable card.
It would be broken. Arfus is good right now, as is. A 4 mana 2/2 draw a card is bad, but as trump mentioned, Death Knight cards are roughly equal to dream cards -- and dream cards are mostly better than any cards that are in the set. I could see some people running aggro Arfus to try and highroll army of the dead to push for the final bits of damage.
He also said they were 50/50 on it since some of the cards come with significant drawback. Go figure.
I doubt it would have been broken but I guess we might see a glimpse of such a scenario with the "Build a beast" heropower.

it's a 3/5 and Ysera awakens is 2 mana, not 0
Having watched Trump trudge through this on Twitch I have an even greater appreciation for the astounding work Jens does for this channel.
how does a fisherman give spelldamage to anything ?
Cronos804 turn 1 minion turn 2 fisherman give the 1 cost minion spell damage but yeah still sucks
The Knight he means the logic

Trump, the drakkari enchanter doubles the effect of your beloved 5 star warlock quest!
Oh Jens, your editing imperfections complete you
lich king + hadronox + the curator + primordial drake + stonehill defender + news druid cards = Taunt Druid new meta !
Thomas # I am a time traveler from the future, taunt druid is now everywhere, send help
Out of everything from this expansion, it's the art style I love the most
I think you're undervaluing lifesteal just a little bit, but I'm also not very good at the game so I'll just shut up now
Problem is that lifesteal is only good in a general sense when you already have or are capable of taking back board control. It does not help in regaining board control since it directly impacts the stats of a minion, and if that minion doesn't have taunt, its just gonna be a bad minion. Might as well run earthen ring farseer or Voodo doctor or other similar minions instead of these lifesteal ones. On the flip side, Obsidian Statue is hella OP for midrange/aggro matchups because of the high health, moderate attack, and most importantly, taunt. The problem is that many many lifesteal minions are lower cost minions with horrible stats for their cost
The card reveals are the best part of every expansion.
So it really isnt as bad as it might seem.
yeah but the cards that arent filler are so cool
They won't do anything for the meta. People just won't ever play them beyond experimenting.
As someone who has played MTG for over a decade, i can gaurantee you lifesteal will be a relevant mechanic. If it were undercosted it would be busted as hell. Minions that heal you, as neutrals? remember that rag lightlord is played EXCLUSIVELY because it heals you. Minion healing is incredibly powerful, especially in classes with buffs.
kingofbudokai Lightlord doesn't have shit stats, and heals you instantly.
The Lich King vs. The Black Knight. Just from the names, that sounds like a duel for the f*cking ages xD
I think the Black Knight will be in all of my decks from the way the new cards are shaping up!
Let's see if how you're valuing lifesteal is similar to how you did with adapt.
Oh yeah, there's also that 5 mana 4/4 that buffs all the minions in your hands at the end of your turn in Paladin, and Grimy Gadgeteer in Warrior. Those could be fun with the Enchanter. :3
Good work editing this jens
Drakkari Enchanter + Imp Master. Get out of my way.
And you play it in priest so you can heal the imp master each turn. What was blizzard thinking printing such an OP combo?
I love me some Neutal Cards with an added spice of Lih Kig.
This is a risky expansion. If the meta doesn't slow down, half the cards are invalidated.
It could also just be the start of a contrl meta
Maybe these cards don't work now but 2 sets later especially once the cancer sets leave these will help.
Yeah... the only deck that looks like it will be for sure strong is the control paladin with their death knight. That ability fits right in to a already fairly strong archetype that lacked good finishing power.
I expect burn/control mage to still be king. Nothing was printed to tell me otherwise.
Well Blizzard has always alternated a good expansion with a bad expansion.
Lifesteal was printed. Now the burn mage needs to spend more resources controlling the board.
New Neutal category
The Lich King seems awesome. Definitely will get him. I just wonder where exactly he goes. His spells are very powerful...and some are generally great...but some are lackluster against Control and some are lackluster against Aggro. Also, don't forget about the 6/6 that gives you a random demon.
Sure, none of those cards are in the meta right now, but they could turn around.
Blizzard getting all up in Valve's intellectual property with that Venomancer tag.
8:38 Did Jens edit out the answer to the question by accident or did he just ask the audience? It seems something is missing here.
11:25 I think he meant the new Bolvar, seeing as the old Bolvar is only in wild. Trump doesn't deal in wild.

There is this new warlock 6 mana 5 6 , deal 1 dmg to all enemy minions at the end of the turn . thats cool with drakkari enchanter.
Maybe we will see a troll priest who runs copy your opponents deck + that discard the top 5 cards and summon all creatures. Wouldn't that be a fun time?
Hey Jens, I really don't think thats how neutal is spelled, but I appreciate the effort
I like furnacefire in my midrange (more control) warrior because there are those matchups against really aggressive decks where I don't want to use my weapons any more except for face damage because I can't afford to get lower so getting value out of them by putting them into a cheap big minion is honestly really really good. Arfus may just be a hunter DKs best pet lol.
Tainted Zealot is amazing with Defile and arguably Spirit Lash.
What about the Wicked skeleton + unleash the hounds in the hunter deck? for 7 mana you could get a pretty big minion on board + some board clear if not full board clear.
I rate this review 5 stars!
Take from that what you will.
Gimme arenas and DD, boi. All vids still great, keep up the good work guys!
Would Wicked Skeleton gain stats from a board clear via Doomsayer? Doomsayer activates at the start of your turn, so perhaps it would be pretty good in that setup
Another good thing about lich king compared to like sogoth is that you can heropower along side of it (has a big impact in quest warrior).
Wow. Pally got a huge buff! Poor Warlock, never stood a chance.
Really surprised they didn't add an Undead subtype with some minor synergies. Seems like the right time to add it.
I kinda want to see an end-of-turn deck. Ysera, Lich King, either in shaman with totems or with one of the minion buff classes.
Baron Geddon + Drakkari Enchanter after you set up Mage Death Knight.
The heal VALUE!!
Drakkari Enchanter +Lakkari Sacrifice quest reward is pretty good.
That's a cool 8 mana card you have there , think it'll help you at 5 health?
YESH, finally a reason to throw the golden Black knight into the deck.
3:44 What about Kabal Trafficker? It's 8 mana play and there are some terifying demons out there. You can even get extra Jarraxus.
Those are some pretty sick 'Nautal' cards. I assume that's short for nautical...
I honestly think the deadscale Murloc could/should have stealth, that would make a better Card, still Not OP thought
I can see why charge was changed, holy shit gorehowl with collusus hitting face for 13 damage for 7 mana is crazy
I think even if the Lich King isn't played in many decks because it turns out to not be great, it at least should see a home in taunt warrior
If The Lich King doesn't have special dialogue with Uther, Jaina, and death knight hero cards, I'm probably gonna lose my shit...
Doesn't Wretched Tiller do 2 damage to the enemy hero regardless of where he attacks?
Furnacefire Colossus + That Fork Minion. Instead of equipping your over costed fiery waraxe, just feed it to this thing. Its not that good unless you somehow have a flood your opponent is forced to hard remove, because this will basically just get hard removed.
Frost Nova, Doomsayer, then double wicked skeleton? HOOOOOOOOOOOOO COMBOOOOOOOOOO
Deadscale kinight can actually be included in murloc shaman (structure similar with current murloc paladin) with the Windlord and ice fishing, and play a corpsetaker in turn 4 with Taunt, Lifesteal, Divine Shield, and Windfury
furthermore, Tainted Zealot works pretty well with defile
Trump forgot about the 6 mana 6/6 warlock card that gives you a demon at the end of every turn
Missed chance to add the "undead" tag to cards.
Clockwork Knight They said they didn't wanted for this expension but they might add it in later expensions.
I wonder if you could blade furry a frostmourne and summon everything you killed with that.
Hmm, pretty sure it was the wrong bolvar (11:24)
3:20 DIE/LIVE, INSECT, Grimestreet Enforcer, Ethereal Arcanist (4 mana 7/7), Primalfin Totem, Kabal Trafficker, Hogger, hell, even NETHER PORTAL and Healing Totem!
Trump.. the new priest card that costs 2 gives 1+1 at the end of turn
Everyone lifesteal is not brand new, it is in most other card games! The lifesteal cards are not easy to pull off, you have to attack with them! It seems like Hearthstone is like 3 years behind most of the other card games who have been using lifesteal mechanics for a long time now!
Drakkari Enchanter into that new Priest 2 mana 2/2 on turn 5. Guaranteed 3/7 Drakkari and a 2/2 . About the cheapest combo I think for that card.
The dream: upgrade Frostmourne, kill one of each of the Four Horsemen, top decking Molten Blade the turn you make your final swing.
Remember that card that gives you a copy of their deck?
hold that when u mill yourself.
Now you have more shit to mill!
Arfus: 4 mana 2/2. Battlecry: LET ME CHANGE YOUR MIND!
Interesting comparison is that Wretched Tiller is ALMOST a direct upgrade to nerfed Small-Time Buccaneer.
Hey quarantine gang
"But the geomancer has at some point in play seen play"
Trump 2017
Welp, I guess I now have things to (not) look forward to when I play Evolve...
finally i can use my black knight that ive been tempted to dust
Lich King can be kill by his own man, black knight, how ironic must it be to World of Warcraft that his own sword which grant him all the power kill him in the end
I think that in this expansion they put real focus on arena play >:D
rag end of turn effect....
Matt Fisher that’s wild
we means the rag in paladin that heals you 8 dmg at end of turn
Katsuo Gaming ahh yes he is correct
And it's still 8 mana
Let's not forget Kabal Trafficker
i gonna be testing a classical face hunter it seems the pieces are there to build it, to be at less good for the start of the expansion before everyone start putting the anti-aggro cards
also big mid-range hunter seems pretty good with the lichking + hunter deathknight, this goona be interesting
OMG FROSTMOURNE LOOKS AWESOME
Not that I play HS any more. But I wish they would do what Elder Scrolls Legends does where you can cast BattleCry effects on the card itself. It's so much more fluid and so much more powerful. Makes really weak battlecry minions considerably more playable.
It's because hearthstone wants to encourage the maintenance of a large board in offensive battlecry heavy decks
It seems like blizzard is trying to lower the power curve a bit this set, which is cool. The problem is people will just run older more powerful cards that are still available. There are some great cards here like the new hero cards, but a whole lot of meh effect meh stated cards. I guess they add something to arena though, so theres that.
Wicked Skeleton works too well with Doomsayer to be dropped, I'm sure there will be a mage deck that can run it and gain some crazy tempo.
Apparently there is a new class: Neutal
There are some end of turn handbuffing tools that could be quite good.
I give Lyra the sunshard a 1/5 due to the fact that it is obviously meant for a control priest deck. No on the Lyra, no on the control priest.
Lich King will be in every Quest Warrior deck, I guarantee it.
Drakkari Enchanter has also cards like "Shadow Ascendant" to improve...
I agree with you until you discard a key card. 3/30 cards is a lot and a high chance of discarding something important.
Oh I see now sorry. Yeah good idea.
