cycling is well ahead of Rowing. speaking with the head coach of the Aus team every session is a prescribed wattage. In rowing in Aus we rarely do that.

Brilliant Sculler! Great to see the brutal honesty especially about training intensities, I think we short shrift ourselves when we don't let our bodies slowly adapt and increase in aerobic capacity, I think alot of folks are flicking back and forth between aerobic and anaerobic within UT2 sessions and this is super fatiguing

Didn't Constantine Louloudis row his UT2 confidentally slower than the rest of the squad and smashed the top end big time?

      Yep that’s what I’ve heard. Wouldn’t go much quicker than 1:48-1:49 for UT2 apparently despite pulling I think around a 5:44 2k.

Great interview. i agree UT should not be about PB's However we certainly did feedback and discuss training intensities with the GB women rowers up to 2016. Sometimes you need to back off, other times press on

Bizarre that GB rowing didn't use HR until the last few years.
