    I was thinking about homeschooling my kids if I ever have any. Since public schools are getting worse and out of control.

    This was such a joy to see! Your children look so happy and engaged, and you are so kind and patient. I just began homeschooling and I was concerned that we would drive each other nuts, but it's been such a blessing for my family & we are much closer. Thank you so much for sharing! You are inspiring to me. I bought your book and lots of your curriculum. I've been watching your videos and reading your site, soaking up all of the info lol! I'm so appreciative of you taking so much time to help moms like me! God bless you!

    Thanks for letting us into your homeschool! I love that you're using different curricula for your kids. We went eclectic and use curricula from different companies as well. I totally recognized MUS for math since we're using the Primer for my kindergartener. He's totally rocking it out too! This was great!

    Wow! This really inspires me. You are such a great leader to your kids and they are so well behaved. I have a first grader who has been struggling in school for a while he has adhd and I’m thinking may be that’s what the Lord wants me to do at this time. I will be praying that my husband will agree

    Thanks for sharing. You have such a beautiful family. I have four children but only homeschool our youngest son who is 9 years old. Our oldest son is in college, second son a senior in high school and our third son is a sophomore in high school. I wish I had the ability to have homeschooled our older children when they were younger but every state is different. I'm very happy we moved and I was able to homeschool. This is one of the best experiences we've had together.

    Hi I loved watching this video! I have 3 kids that I am starting to teach next Monday and I have a quick question. What are your other kids doing while one of them is using the white board for her words? or while one of them is doing the jumping game? Thank you in advance!

    • @erica_arndt
      @erica_arndt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When my kids were all younger, we did the jumping game together and I just gave them different flashcards based on their age. But if one of us is using the whiteboard the others are doing something independent like reading, handwriting, etc. I will teach them a lesson, then they can work while I am working with the younger ones at the whiteboard. We rotate from there.

      Erica Arndt hello, Erica! Thank you for sharing anything with us! I'm looking for a box or organizer for our colorful pencils and pens etc. but it's pity that no one on amazon has such a one which could have more pencils in:(. Could you please share the one you have on your table with me??? Than you so much! And by the way, i do. want to know how I can make my 4 years old son sit down with me and learn with me together. Sometimes I feel that I'm not a good mother...:( he doesn't want to sit beside me and learn anything I planned for him... I don't know what the problem is. Yes, he's just 4 years old and he's a boy and especially he's now in his sensitive and active period... it's not that easy for me to discipline him. Then I feel very failed as a mother😓. I understand that each kid is different... but I still would like to ask you to give me some advices or tell me about your experiences on it. Thank you!

    Hi. Your video was really nice. I am planning to homeschool but i have some fears that i need to overcome. I am not a teacher by profession but i still want to homeschool my 8 yr old and 4 yr old. My fear is sometimes i feel i wont be able to teach my kids as i dont know much about what to teach and how to teach.
    Did u ever feel like this?

      @erica_arndt  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lubna,
      Yes, we all feel that way at one point or another! :) You will be able to do it well, especially with your teaching background. It is a transition to teaching your kids at home, but shouldn't be too difficult as you're already use to teaching. I have information on how to get started, what curriculum to use, how to schedule your day, etc. and what to teach by grade level in my HS 101 book: amzn.to/2jfI3LC

    • @erica_arndt
      @erica_arndt  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, you don't have to be creative to homeschool, but it does make it more fun! :) It really depends on the curriculum you choose and your family's needs. It can be as easy as following exactly what the curriculum says to do, or you can create a less formal learning environment.

    • @erica_arndt
      @erica_arndt  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Alma,
      If you mean "reading" comprehension I suggest my literature units. Not only are they fun, and hands-on, but they also include reading comprehension questions for each chapter. One thing to make sure of with comprehension is that she's actually reading okay as well. Sometimes their comprehension isn't so great because they're still struggling to read the words and that takes a lot of concentration. So remembering what they read is difficult.
      You can always do read-a-loud time with her to make sure she's reading okay. You can even alternate reading with her to give her a break in between paragraphs or pages.
      If you mean writing, then I like writeshop.com for younger kids, and Institute for Excellence in Writing for 3rd and up.

    How long does your family spend on curriculum time? How do you know how much time to spend and if it is enough to keep up with other children in their grade level. Thats my goal incase my daughter ever goes back to school I don't want her to end up being overwhelmed because her school load is heavier than home. Our actual work time can be about 3 to 4 consecutive hrs. Sometimes art and projects can be throughout the day. I feel like she is learning new things at home and is gaining confidence but I want to be sure she is learning what she should at grade level. What do you feel about this? How do you make sure?

    • @erica_arndt
      @erica_arndt  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll need to check your state requirements, our state requires we do 172 days per year, and average 4 hours per day.

    • @erica_arndt

      HI Jessica,
      It really just takes a bit of consistency and discipline on your part and he'll get into the groove. Everyone goes through an adjustment period where you have to set a bit of a schedule and just keep with that consistently for a while until they get used to doing school at home. He'll test you to see what he can get away with as well, so just be firm on what you expect from him each day and he'll get it. I also have this post on homeschooling and discipline that might help:

    Wow...you are super organized!! You've totally changed my views on home schooling. If you had a teaching credential, I could see other parents clamoring to get their kids into your classroom to get a decent education. I'm in California and the classrooms are bulging at the seams! Teacher-student ratio is horrible!! And the tuition co$t for a preppy-private school academy is through the roof! And let me just say...God has disappeared completely from the classrooms. All the way from the pledge of allegiance to subjects like science. It's a disgrace. :(
    You give the American-future hope, Erica. I hope other moms watching your channel will be inspired to hang their teaching-shingle and follow suit. :) God bless you.

      Sometimes they have homework from our options program, but we normally finish all of our work during school and so they don't typically have homework. Sometimes they will study for tests in the evenings when it's quiet but otherwise we're free once school is done for the day! Yay!

    This was a great video and everything, but your getting your teenager to do the same work as an 8 year old? That just keeps bugging me

      Hi Emily,
      My kids all do different levels of work. We were using the same Bible curriculum which is what I think you're referring to. And my youngest did listen in on our science reading for the day. However they each have their own workbooks, so while it may look like their doing the same thing they have their own levels. The older kids have a blank book they color and write in, and my younger one has a traceable book so she can trace over the answers. Anyway, my oldest and youngest do not do the same work. hope that makes sense :)
