Since you're already a Canon user and you're thinking of upgrading, Josh I would strongly recommend a Canon R6. The mirrorles is such a huge upgrade that you wouldn't even suspect how much the technology has progressed. I was a Canon 600D (since 2012) user before I bought my R6 last September. When I started taking photos with the R6 (also a full frame vs APSC mind you) my jaw almost dropped on the floor. Those cameras open a whole new world of possibilities. The noise control with high ISOs, IBIS, full frame, 4k (log) video. It's also so easy to adapt old EF lenses. And it obviously has 2 memory card slots for redundancy 😅
Josh, I feel you wholeheartedly on this one. I have multiple S5 II for Video Work and had 2 Canon EOS R for my Photography and I would keep the EOS R forever ♾️ Beautiful Photos from this Camera… but that one card slot at this point in my career is crazy scary to risk.
Hi Josh! I don't really like ICM photography either, but that shot of those Foxgloves was really nice! I have the good fortune to shoot with a camera with dual card slots. I've got the Nikon Z5. It's lovely, but it comes at a price.. I can (at this precise moment) only shoot with one lens, because the lenses are so expensive I can't afford another! 😌😌😁😁
Hey Josh, I've recently upgraded from my Canon 5d mark ii. Not for memory card issues, but it's not allowing me to progress the way I need/want too. It's an older camera, amazing for portraits and landscapes which is why I'm keeping it as my backup. Long story short, have a look at the Nikon Z5. It's got the 2 slots, full frame, and nice upgrades. Also it's at a pretty good price point now (if it's in your budget that is lol). Never thought I'd get a Nikon but I've no regrets. Anyhoo, have a great day pal. 👍☺️👊
You mentioned you film on a LUMIX S5, so you’re probably already very familiar with the camera and its menu system. I’m going to nominate the LUMIX S5ii. Not very compact, but the images that come out of it are incredible. I recently watched a video where the guy demonstrated that the colour science is remarkably similar to Leica (I think they have a partnership). Also, it’s incredible value for money and the 20-60 lens that comes with it is one of the best kit lenses available. The issue I see is that lugging two S5’s around is not going to be good for your back 😂
Found your channel because of your 250D content. I own one. Will continue to follow because of YOUR content. I also have a 5D MKII. If I were to upgrade, and still keep all of my current gear, I would buy the R6 MKII. Cheers mate!
Happened to my daughter over the weekend. She was doing a university assignment, taking photos front of stage at Cardiff Castle pride weekend. Absolutely gutted she was.
Yes Joshua the time has come. You have really proved your point and stayed true to the Canon250D and showed how much more than an entry level camera it is but as a professional photographer you need a professional level camera with 2 memory cards. I look forward to continuing with you on your journey and await with interest what you upgrade to. It will hurt your pocket but it will certainly be worth it in the long run. Best of luck man. 😅
I was at a Marathon and it was my first time taking photos of this event. I had a new card and at the end of the event I got the corrupted card message. All the photos were gone.
Thanks Joshua, I get your pain. I live in Australia and I went for a holiday in Queensland - beautiful ❤️. However Queensland can be uncomfortably humid. On one of those humid days, I was sitting on a patio with my camera, changing a lens, cleaning etc. I left my SD card on the table for a few hours. Later that night, my family wanted to see the photos. I grabbed the SD card, put it in a reader and into my iPad. I heard a tiny, tiny fritz noise - corrupted 😢. The humidity had left some tiny droplets of water on the connecters😢. Did I have a back up SD? No. Did I have to an SSD drive? No. My bad😢.
@@TheJoshuaPeg luckily my son managed to save the only photo that I actually liked. The rest were very ordinary, but I learned my lesson. Might wait until Christmas to see if the price of a used OM-1 goes down a bit more.
Sorry to hear that Joshua! I saw the new Nikon Z6 is a beast, they also improved the autofocus a lot. I would suggest Canon, but their RF system has such expensive lenses, I own a Canon R6 and I`m looking forward to the 70 - 200 mm F 2.8 L USM lens for a while now, could prove to be a big win in landscape photography. No matter what you choose, keep delivering good content!
While you are at it looking for a new camera, i suggest also consider one with weather proofing. I notice you shoot a lot of times under light rain. I'm sure you alreafy though of that...
I've warned everyone about it. One does simply not buy sandisk! They are the brand with the highest faulty cards. Yes they replace it with a new, for free. But you will never get back what was lost. And simply don't buy any card with the useless slider! That should be illegal to put on the cards!
Usually landscape photography is not about rushing so you theoretically have enough time to put another card into the camera and push the shutter button again. At least that's what I do when I have a feeling the shot is worth having a backup. I just call it the poor photographer's double card slot. 😂
you have totally outgrown the 250d. I just got an R6 (not mark II) a couple of weeks ago for a steal. It's an amazing camera and has two card slots so you can shoot with redundancy. If you can find one at a good price you'll have an amazing tool that won't let down your type of photography, two card slots, weather sealed for those misty rainy days and it's build like a tank. Needless to say it's got Ibis too and great video capabilities for those clips in between. It's been discontinued and so some shops are selling them off at really good prices. Can't go wrong.
I've been waiting for this moment, the moment you think about upgrading. It's worth it. I only went up by 2Mp from a Canon600D to a 70D when the dioptre adjustment lens in the viewfinder came lose and I couldn't use eye level anymore. So i bought a secondhand 70D and it was a huge difference in feature and function. Perhaps the most useful is Back Button Focus and Lens calibration. Admittedly it's a single SD card slot, and I have been thinking about dual slots since they came on the market. The 20Mp of my 70D is quite enough and it's hard to justify the money for that one feature. But...
@@TheJoshuaPeg I'll be interested to see your solution when you get there. There are more brands with flippy screens now, and I find it a very handy feature. I've bought my first weatherproof lens recently (S/H Canon 24/105f4) and I have to say, it has removed a little stress about wet weather. It's an ongoing project 😂
I do get why you need a camera with 2XSD card slots but I do hope you will get another Canon, maybe R6 MKII ?? At the same time fully understand why you kept old faithful for so long. Why upgrade when it isn't broken. .
To help stop corruption on your SD card from happening I highly suggest you format it once in the computer after you transfer it over on default settings and then about maybe a week later something like that format the card in the camera that is very important I've had a few corrupt files matter of fact it happens on any SD card But I'm going to assume that you use Lightroom or a Photoshop and you put your files there first and then that's how you see that there corrupted but you might want to use Windows photo first that will actually preserve the files trust me on these ones

I went from an RP to an R6 and had the same reaction to the dynamic range and AF!

Two cards for me. Old cameras for me also. My Nikon D610 and D4 both have two card slots. Backup and format often.

Hey...Nikon shooter but watch for the photography...can I suggest the new Nikon Z6III, it's a very impressive camera (two cards slots too!).

Love your videos. Can I ask what are you using for taking the video when you’re talking into the camera?
My only SD card issue seems to be remembering to put the bloody thing back in the camera !!! Will you stick with Canon or which brands ?

I’m keeping my options open at the moment
