Really risky doing this. I work in ships and there is a particular danger called confined space. Basically things such as carbon monoxide or hydrogen sulpher could be trapped in parts of the boat that would have knocked u out in about 5 seconds and would proceed to kill you. Obviously ships main areas such as the engine room and accommodation would normally be ventilated etc but old ships like these you just never know!
@@J8den Not for the gases I mentioned. You would need to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus. Basically an oxygen mask with a tank on your back! Crazy to imagine that many captains looked at that ship as their pride and joy, many memories were had there. Men joked and watched the sea, and longed for home. Good times were had, bad times were had. Sailors fell asleep to the engines humming, and the rocking of the waves. That bridge part really hit me for some reason, I can imagine all the captains walking into that room for their first times, filled with pride.
WARNING! Be very cautious when entering the chain locker onboard a ship. The rusty chains absorb all the oxygen from the surrounding area and if you enter the locker you will pass out quickly and die. The same goes for old fishing vessels with rotten fish still inside. It's dangerous and you might suffocate. Always be cautious as there are so many dangers onboard. Best to keep a oxygen meter on you and a wired oxygen meter ball that you can either lower or throw inside rooms that you wish to enter. I'm writing this as I have heard about bodies being found in chain lockers. Be careful.
@@Bonky-wonky more concerning would be voids that something has decomposed in. Like say sea life or a rat or a forgotten sandwich from a distracted worker left to rot in a small confined space that may normally have ventilation but is closed off for being put into storage. As they decompose they'll release H2S which is very poisonous, one breath of it can kill you. Even while a ship is in operation the empty voids are noted, tracked, and only accessed after a crew member goes in with an oxygen tank and tests the air for safety. So when you see these old abandoned ships know they are full of random closed off poisonous areas. There has been many cases where someone has entered a toxic gas zone, passed out and died without being able to warn others, then a fellow crew member comes in to check on why they're slumped on the floor for no discernable reason only to suffer the same fate.
@@Bonky-wonky I wouldn't say it's as much of a hazard unless you were like shiey and entering underground bunkers. I used to work as a security guard on a out-of-service Exxon oil tanker for over a year stored in the Portland, OR Swan Island ship repair yards. During my shift I was the only one on-board and no one was any where near the ship except me. The guard shack was sitting right on the main deck near the top of the gangway. The only place I didn't explore on that ship in the over a year I was assigned that post were the cargo holds. The fumes emanating from the vented holds were very toxic. I'll never forget the first time I went down into the depths of the engine room I found Christmas decorations hanging in a little office area. I just happened to begin working on that ship the beginning of December 1996. When I saw the decorations I was amazed because the ship had obviously just been retired during that Christmas season. As I continued to look around the office area my eyes glanced at a calendar on the wall. I suddenly had a Twilight Zone moment. The calendar read not December 1996, but December 1993. Those Christmas decorations and that office looked like it had just recently been decorated but it had actually been like that for 3 years. Wow what an eerie feeling that was. I only explored that ship during the daylight hours. There was shore power so there were some lights on in a few places like the engine room but most areas weren't lighted. You're all alone at night (swing shift) on an almost 1000 ft. ship and you definitely hear some strange sounds. After one particularly unnerving and frightening patrol inside the ship I decided I would never enter the inside of that ship after dark again. And I never did.
When you’re exploring a presumably abandoned ship and then you hear “IDI NAHUI” from the end of the hallway and you hear footsteps coming towards you *chuckles* I’m in danger

Facts
These ships used to belong to the Norwegian Navy and is of the type Oksøy-class or Alta-class. Norway sold some of these a couple of years back, so seeing these here kinda makes sense.
Some of the tech that can be seen looks fairly modern. From the looks i´d say they were build or received some form of update in the mid 90´s.
@@Scoobz187 They where buildt in the 90s apparently.
It's HNoMS Glomma of the Alta-class. Commissioned in 1997 and sold in 2009.

To all the people saying it’s dumb to press the buttons: the ship is completely off grid. There is literally NO button he can push that does anything :D source: worked on such a Ship myself

Looks like it's MS Glomma and MS Oksøy which sold to private hands as demilitarised minesweepers in 2009. Seems they were sold without main engines, water jets and lots of other equipment because they were stripped for spare parts to other ships.

Thanks for your Story very interesting and thrilling
It is great to have you back!
When you’re exploring a presumably abandoned ship and then you hear “IDI NAHUI” from the end of the hallway and you hear footsteps coming towards you

*Vadim shows up* *VADIM INTENSIFIES*

Hahaha should colab with Boris
And then a big muscular russian sailor offers you a shot of vodka
Imagine the ship is an SCP and once you go in you you're stuck there forever, the ships halls and paths never end and you cant find your way back , and you're haunted by the souls of the thousands of sailors and people that were trapped and died there.

The ship he explored is the Alta-class minesweeper Glomma, the ship moored next to it is likely an Oksoy-class.
