- At the very top of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, there is a land mass sticking out nearly 100 miles into the middle of Lake Superior. At the tip of this appendix like formation is Fort Wilkins State Park and the quaint little town of Copper Harbor. Our trip that day started in Iron Mountain, 146 miles away and took us through Wakefield where the large Indian statue stood by Lake Wakefield. Along the route, we visited O Kun De Kun Falls on Hwy 45 just north of Bruce Crossing (see separate video) and then made it up to Houghton for lunch and then by late afternoon we found ourselves a nice campground at Fort Wilkins State Park in time to get settled and shoot more video at Manganese Falls (see separate video) and capture the sunset. What a great day !
