    I just bought a Wilderness 12 pontoon boat for $300. The boat looks almost new & had been in a warehouse for most of its life. The owner even made a platform to stand on. The boat is around 6 years old. The seller said he only had it in the water 3 times, looks great. The seller also had the seat raised up & the seat is the same one you have on your boat.

    Great video, I picked up this same boat two year ago used. What are the white PVC fittings where the foot pegs slide in. My boat does not have those. Thanks.

      Daniel Vetter Those are rod holders that I made. The base stays on the foot peg. The tops are interchangeable. I have two for trolling with regular rods. They are made so they lock the rod in place. The other two are for holding sturgeon poles.

    How do you like your Steelheader pontoon boat? I just watched your other video on it and thinking of getting one.

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robert Fernandez Sorry I didn't see your question. I love my Steelheader. Mine was ordered with the gas motor mount. I would see if they will do a 10 hp gas mount. My 4 hp motor is not powerful enough to get on plane. If you order one tell Jennifer that you saw this video and tell her I sent you.

    Do you have any videos on sewing the pontoon straps with the d ring.

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No i don't. I wish I would have at the time.

      Bummer I need to replace a few on a used boat I bought. Thinking about doing it my self or just having IDAHO canvas do it for me.

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@micheallords9931 its pretty easy to do. I cut the threads out of one side then sewed that side. Then moved to the next. That way I didn't have to line up several pieces at the same time.
      I used Kevlar thread.

    I have that same pontoon where can I get the tray at in the back?

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If yours doesn't have one you will most likely have to make one.

    I was given a old FishCat the valve is in the middle not the end like yours. I was also given a brand new bladder. one has patches all over it. one of the pontoons has a slow leak, taking two or three days to go down half way. How would you find this leak? I have tried soapy water, plane water and i can't find the teak i even checked and cleaned the valve.

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tim LeDoux
      Are you taking the bladder out of the cover? If not take it out. You said you used soapy water. I would add more soap. If it drops in pressure it has to have a leak some where. Did you try soapy water in the valve?

    • @47LeDoux
      @47LeDoux 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes took the bladder out cleaned it and the zipper and outside skin. Used soapy water but does not show bubbles.

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      if it is leaking it has to produce bubbles. That is odd

    Hi Ron, I just watched your buyers guide, I am in the market for another pontoon boat. Right now I have a light weight one just like your Bannana Boat and Im looking to upgrade. Your review gave me some great insite on waht to look for when I go look at the boat I want to buy. It is an Outcast 9. I will let you know how it turns out when I look at it. The seller claims its only been osed twice.
    Thank you for your review.
    Kevin

      Kevin Perry I am glad that you liked the video. The Outcast 9 is just like my sportsmans 9. The outcast 9 IR is a different animal. It isn't bad it just has Higher rockers.

    • @kevsgonefishing
      @kevsgonefishing 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The one im looking at is just an Outcast 9, I'm really looking forward to getting it

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are solid boats. Remember to follow the guide and look for ways to reduce the price. Good luck and let me know how you did. Have you checked out my rod holders for that boat?

    • @kevsgonefishing
      @kevsgonefishing 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not seen that video, do you have a link to it or the name?
      So I got the boat tonight, got the pontoons holding air and gonna check them tomorrow. It came with a new Min Kota 36lb motor, all the bags, a soft sided Outcast cooler,really nice Outcast repair kit and extra patches. A folding 4 pronged anchor and a fish finder.

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome score. Now remember if you fill the it up with air in the heat of the day, the pontoons will sag over night. It has to do with the heat of the pontoons. If you filled them up in the cool of the morning and at the peak heat of the day on cement they might pop. So don't fill them up and leave them out of water this time of the year. Good job You can also contact me on facebook under idahoron

    I'd say thanks for coming, turn around and walk away if someone tried to gouge me that hard. I appreciate your experience in inspecting the boat, but I don't like the low-ball attitude.

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I inspect your boat and I am "low balling" you. It is because I need to do work on the boat, and that work is not free. If you walk away fine and dandy with me. I have bought several 50 dollar boats.

  • @mikewitmer4607
    @mikewitmer4607 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I certainly cannot recommend any fishcat products....Boat was fine. When I purchased it I was told replacement parts were readily available. When one of the outer skins was damaged and I called about replacement. Cost to replace was around $600.00.

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your experience is not anything like mine. They have bent over backwards to make sure I have been taken care of. Great bunch of guys.

    • @mikewitmer4607
      @mikewitmer4607 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I said nothing about the guys. I am commenting on the fact that after being told parts were readily available I find out the cost of them is so high I might as well buy an entire new boat. I am just suggesting people consider this before purchasing. Now I wonder if i might get a free set of pontoons if I write positive reviews for them? Could that be why you are treated well?

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a frame break and it was my fault and they replaced it free.

    • @mikewitmer4607
      @mikewitmer4607 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow. Well good. i just thought they might sell me a replacement pontoon for one side for a reasonable price. First they tried to sell me a whole new boat when I called them and explained the situation. Very weird.

    You said you paid $50 for this boat? Was the guy who sold it to you drunk?

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It needed the D rings sewed back in. The straps on the D rings had rotted completely out. He couldn't strap the boat to the frame.
      I sewed new straps to the D rings. It's a great 50 dollar boat.

  • @Zeus_22
    @Zeus_22 ปีที่แล้ว

    Geez, by the end of the negotiation the guy selling it will be paying you to take it.

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it is in poor enough condition. Maybe they should pay to get rid of it.

    Is a new sport xr1 for 150 good?

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +CS Bmx That is an okay price. Most of the XR1's didn't have PVC covers. So you will have to be very careful you don't sit it sown on a thorn or have a fish spine stick it. It is a lot better boat than the yellow Sport I have.

    How is this a buyers guide you never even mentioned the best manufacturer for pontoons?!?!? Bucks Bags South fork edition is the best.

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jordan Thompson
      Because I tell in this video what features on a pontoon that are desirable or less desirable and why. I didn't mention Bucks Bags because the video is about getting a good price on a used boat not a specific brand. But the same applies due to shape of the pontoons. Just like I didn't review a Classic Accessories arrow or many other boats.
      The Bucks Bags boats are good but if someone needs a boat with a factory motor mount buyer beware. Not all of the Bucks Bag has them. It might be your opinion that the South Fork is best but it is just your opinion. I don't feel that way, and I really don't like their valves.

    According to you, you paid 150$ to much for this boat.

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't see how you figured that. You only paid too much if you don't like the boat. I love all the boats I have and would pay the same again.

    • @adventureswithfrodo2721
      @adventureswithfrodo2721 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      idahoron sorry not what I meant. It was when you were saying all the amounts I figured at one point all the discounts were going negative of the 400$ You started at. You got a great deal. Thanks.

    • @idahoron
      @idahoron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are just suggestions that you can use to reduce the price. Some guys wont come down others will it all depends. I bought a Duel pontoon Cougar. They are so hard to find used I paid the owner full price and was lucky to get it.

    This isn’t a guide to buy a boat. It’s a lesson in being a cheap skate jerk. I buy and sell a lot of things. I would tell you to stop wasting my time. Haggling is insulting.

      Thats the beauty of it. I am telling people what to look for and not get screwed. You are trying to screw people. I am evening out the playing field for guys like you screwing people.
