- Chuffed with how this came out! Bit of a headache to sort the spiral as it's not neat or mathematically perfect, especially at the base of the handle where it's a weird shape!

Although I'm not sure of any witch or wizard in the Harry Potter series or books who have a cherry wood wand it will be curious to see u make a wand out a cherry tree those wands are the favorite of students in Mahoutoukoro Japan

Question, what kinda paints do you use on your wands? Do you use a primer first or some gesso? And what do you use as finisher?
I use spirit stain where possible now as it seems a bit more authentic to the craft rather than primer/paint. Then I use a sanding sealer and clear wax to give it some shine

I love everything about the handle of this wand... apart from the very back end, just the way it stops is pretty ugly in my oppinion, considering how elegent the triple twist is.
Might just be me being arrogent about woods not often used in guitar building, but isn't cherry a red wood? I was quite suprised when i saw how pale the log was.
I actually had that edited into a blooper when I snapped the first but left it out! Great minds and all...
Yes some cherry ends up being a bit redder but this was quite a young fast grown tree (from my neighbor) and maybe wasn't heartwood which may be the reason

Most I budget at least a day with filming, it's the planning and editing which takes the most time!
