    Sting did things the right way, Vader kicked his butt over and over until the payoff at the big pay per view. At which point no one thought Sting could beat Vader. That was until he used the rope a dope, he would tire Vader out by letting him punch himself out and then attempt to beat him. That’s how you built up a monster and payoff everything that came before.

      @GravityLee well, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but you are in a minority. Sting was good before the Crow thing, and for a long stretch. But hardly the GOAT. I would agree that he was the best WCW babyface wrestler ever.

Surprisingly, though, both seemed to like him personally as he was known to be a softie in real life.

      I was born in '82 and you're right. I hadn't seen much WCW but I knew of Vader and when I saw the promos for him coming to the WWF in 96 I got super-hyped. His first ring entrance at Royal Rumble 96 is one of my favorite moments of the 90's.

    • @intrigued16
      @intrigued16 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're right I was born 83 as well. I watched more WWF at the time but my friend's older brother was a huge WCW fan. So I ended up either watching or hearing a lot about WCW as well and later was huge both in WCW and especially in Japan. If you go back and watch his Japan stuff. You will really get a good look at what he was capable of inside of the Ring. WWF definitely handled him for the most part in the wrong way. Now when he first came into the WWF they set him up to be a monster. But from what I understand something happened at an event or talk show with Vader , where Vader did something that was not good and embarrassed the company from what I understand in some way. After that and a mix of Shawn Michaels. Along with Vader gaining a bunch of weight and let themselves go. His WWF career went to shit. Which is definitely a shame because of the fans Vader had. I think Vader is one of the best big men ever in the business. He's definitely in the top five or 10 without a doubt. I also understand that he was a really nice person outside of the Ring.

    Wrestlers don't know how to work anymore. They can't sell. They understand that the marks are smart so they see no reason to use good psychology. They come up with spots and gimmicks that are too fake to believe. We know it's fake but we must be able to suspend disbelief. If you put a promotion together that allows the fans to forget it's fake for a few hours then you will have real competition. Vince would be number two before the next PPV. Say what you want, but that entrance and pose was a big part of Shawn’s Gimmick, just like Taker does his lights on/coat hat off entrance, Austin does the 4 corner salute, Hunter and the Water spray etc. Imagine Austin going to hit the corners and each time his manager is standing in the corner like a goof.

In addition, the match he had with Hart, Austin and Taker at final four was another great match of his. His matches with Sting made him a big deal. But when it came to guys like Hogan and Micheals, it was over for Vader. After that, he was jobbing to undercard wrestlers. At least he got to do an angle with Kane which had its moments.
