Chrysler Australia also liked the name and used it for the sports coupe version of the 1971 Australian Valiant. The Valiant Charger.
A memorable series of Hey Charger ads available to see on TH-cam.
    215 to 265 Hemi sixes as well as 318, 340 and 360 V8 options.

The FWD Charger didn’t have the Volkswagen 1.7 liter, it came with a tuned 2.2 liter, with straight exhausts. I owned one of the test mules. The exhaust notes were quite exhilarating and the vehicle , like the Mustang II, probably allowed it to become a powerful vehicle and resume its title.

    • @jeremytart639

I used to own the 69th Shelby charger ever built as per it's vin number. It has a straight exhaust also, and a tuned 2.2L with one hell of a cam, and a big 2barrel Holley. This video claimed barely over 100hp. That is way off. Little monster would fly. I sold it and it's fully restored and in the Carrol Shelby museum now. Man I miss that car. Glad it's in the museum though.

This chassis sharing has already moved Cherokees to the bottom of Consumer Reports. Dodge will move further down with reliability and lose its core buyer base.

yeah the Charger had some six cylinder engines in the 70s and 80s here for fuel economy reasons the largest engine you could get in the Charger was the 440 6 pack V8 the chargers from the later 70s and 80s were chocked for power due to emissions defeating parts and software at least when it was revived in 2006 Model year the top tuned engine could get you 425 HP and up to 420 LB FT torque and that's in a car that weighed between 3,800 and 4,160 LBs similar to a Cadillac CT5 V Blackwing with or without all wheel drive and weather its equipped with the 6 speed manual transmission or the 10 Speed automatic transmission the manual car weighs 4,123 LBs while the car with the automatic transmission weighs 4,142 LBs or 8.6 Kilograms more where as for ex the Auto equipped Ford Mustang GT Convertible weighs 4,012 Pounds or the Lexus LS 500 is 4,905 LBs or for example a fully loaded 1961 Lincoln Continental Convertible weighed 5,700 LBS

That car had over 170 hp when 16v GTI's has 123 hp and Civic Si's had 106. They even developed a faster one. One with 400 HP. I worked as a mechanic at a Chrysler dealer near the headquarters. We prepped all Chrysler cars for the auto shows. An engineer brought the prototype in to the dealer. He said on 1-2 shifts, the car would shift a lane, due to torque steer. They were working on that. Before they could bring it to market, GM bought out the head supplier, killing the engine.

The original storyline called for a 69 Chevelle for Bo and Luke, instead they used the 69 Charger because it was cheaper 😊

"it was 'helping' to slow the car down." Man, please say directly what you mean. Obviously, if you're talking about a race car, slowing it down wasn't helping.

I grew up watching the Dukes of Hazzard and the charger now looks nothing like it.
I bought an orange challenger RT instead and love it but should have gotten the Charger Scat

For 1976 only, the Charger had 2 images. The former 2 door Coronets were marketed under the Charger name. For 1977 , this particular Charger, and all Coronets were replaced with the Monaco.

Mid 70s, there were Charger, and Charger SE. They were two different cars. The standard Charger, was the same body as a Sport Fury. The Charger SE, was the same body as a Chrysler Cordoba.
