  • TrialRun led me up the Potash Road to Shafer Road. Besides a few still photos and drone shots from outside the parks, the entire climb is included from the intersection of the White Rim Road to one of the last pullouts before the paved road.

The bulk of the riding is accompanied by only the sound of a small 4-stroke thumper. Intro/outro uses a music track that resonates with this subject for me, sounding like Sergeo Leone meets the Beach Boys.

This last September I rode my tdub bottom to top as well. One of the most amazing rides I've done. I'll be back in Moab this Spring. Thanks for sharing

Hello. How did the TW do power wise? Looking to make a run from Canyonlands to Moab. Coming out Potash Rd. Trying to decide on a bike. TW200, XT250, or KLX230. Those are on my list. Just have to decide. Thanks

Hi Mike, I rode Moab with the factory tune, no mixture or jetting changes. Canyonlands peaks at about 6,000', and I didn't notice any real lack of power.
LaSal Mtn Rd climbs over 8,300'. I didn't ride it, but I rode in Ouray, CO at 8,000'+ This is where altitude and stock jetting cause pain. Rough & noticeably lacking power at 8k, it was barely running at 11k. Tuning for altitude, or better yet a bike with EFI is necessary that high.

@@KarlB Thank you Karl for the reply. I've drove Shaffer Trail in out 4WD and can't wait to do it on a bike. We love it out west. The amount of trails is unbelievable as well as the free camping on BLM lands. Now I just have to decide on a bike. Good day my friend.
