      Thanks, Dan. If you are camping from bikes, there are some cool campgrounds along the trail. Check in about permits. Otherwise, the WRT is about 10 hours of riding to complete the loop from Hwy 191. I recommend doing it counter-clockwise to make sure you can get through the mineral bottom area down by the river. One time it was super sandy, and another time we had to do a water crossing that was nearly up to my seat.

    I always felt like I was 2 days behind you. Having to split up into separate groups in order to obey the rules, felt like we were riding in clicks. It would have been more fun riding in a large motorcycle gang group so we could have intimidated the bike riders. haha :)

    Great video. Simple scenery with no music, engine plowing along, wind and sunshine. Great "slow turns" camera work. Wish there were more producers like you.

    Nice video, but, I am glad I was not coming the other way as you were riding. especially when you were on the right side of the road and your friend was on the left side, going around blind corners. Not a problem if you have a death wish for a head 0n collision but, but I would like to live to ride another day. Recently I was on a trail like this, keeping the speed down because of blind corners, when a nit wit in a side x side came around the corner at double my speed, on my side of the trail. I had to dump my bike in thick brush and my daughter, who was behind me with her daughter on the back of her bike, had to dump her bike, as well. The guy in the side x side didn't even slow down after running two bikes off the road to see if we were still alive. We all need to pay attention to the possibility of someone coming the other way. It might just be you that comings around a blind corner to find someone on the wrong side of the road and have to ditch your bike off one of those 1000 foot drop offs in your video.

      Thanks for your concern. I'm sorry to hear your story that you and your loved ones had to bail. I've had to do it myself before. I don't like the hot throttle jockeys. On this trip however it really wasn't an issue. This is in a National Park, and SxS are not allowed on this trail. This is also a permitted trail, with only 50 street legal motor vehicle permits issued per day for all 80-ish miles. We were in a group and not in the lead, and we were using communicators. All of this greatly reduced the likelihood of an issue that you describe. It's always a good idea to remember to be safe.

    Nice Vid, man!Question: What made you decide to do counter-clockwise?

      I have done this ride twice, and I totally recommend going CC on a DS bike planning to make the ride in one day. Here's why... 1) Near the start, down in the Mineral Bottom area, can vary in conditions. This time it was hard packed and no problem, but sometimes it can be deep and loose. It is better to tackle it in the beginning while fresh, then at the end when you're already spent and want to be done. 2) I generally like the way the attractions/landmarks are presented when riding this direction...river, buttes, canyons. 3) As the sun is setting in the west, it shines on the red canyon walls towering above, the fins in Arches NP in the distance, and the La Sal mountains even further east. The lighting is fantastic later in the day as you near the end. 4) You don't have to enter at a ranger booth in the NP, so there's no wasting time paying for passes or showing your permits. Get your passes and permits ahead of time and carry them on you though. 5) The end offers options. Want to continue the loop? Ride up the Shafer Switchbacks and out of Island in the Sky and back out 313. Hungry and want to get to town? Ride out Potash road and 128 to 191 closer to Moab.

    That was a good one. Hope to get over that way someday (via the TAT would be great) and really wanna try the switchbacks. It would take me forever, I'd want to stop and enjoy the view too much. Thanks so much for sharing.

      Thank you so much, ADS. Yeah, it was absolutely spectacular. This Moab 2017 series was shot back in the first week of April, but I'm just getting my act together to get it edited. It was a warm day out on the White Rim, but it was spring then, so not too bad. I'm a Washingtonian, so this Utah trip with some sunshine was a welcome change, as it was still a sloppy mess back home when we left. I appreciate the watch, thumbs up, and work you do. I'm a fan of your channel.

      Hi Keenan, thanks so much for watching. Yes, we did the full loop from the Archview gas station in about 9 hours.

    Hey man! I'm a super noob with offroading, but am an experienced street/track rider. Do you think a rider like that on a new 2018 Bonneville T120 with stock Pirelli Phantom tires could do this? If not, do you think a bonneville with good 50/50 dual sport tires could do this? I would have a way to carry extra fuel with me. I've gotten a taste of light-duty offroading, and now I'm kinda hooked.

    • @LeisureTimeLarry
      @LeisureTimeLarry  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Nicholas, this could be very complex. Short answer, sure anything is possible. I recently completed the WRT again this spring, but this time on my Honda CB500X instead of my TW200. Overall, it was fine, but there are sections of this road that are rocky and bumpy to where it is uncomfortable on both of those bikes. Have you thought about renting a dual sport in Moab? If you've gotten a taste of offroading and are hooked, as you say, perhaps adding another bike more appropriate for the task is in order? When offroad, the risk and probability of dropping the bike goes way up, and I'd hate to drop a new T120. Perhaps a Tiger is in your future? If you can't be talked out of taking the T, spooning on some TKC80s would be most advised, and plan to air down to about 20psi. Fuel is not really an issue, as it is less then 150 miles around the loop from gas. I recommend the direction seen in the video, counterclockwise. Fuel at Archview Resort, Hwy 313 to Mineral Bottom Rd., WRT, up Shafer switchbacks, back out Hwy 313. Don't forget your National Parks Pass and your WRT day use permit. Best, LTL

      @@LeisureTimeLarry Thanks for the insight! Yeah I'd love to pick up something like a used Royal Enfield Himalayan or a "traditional" dual sport, to just beat the crap out of. I need to pay off this T120 first though! $7,700 left. Dou!
