Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! I was able to use cork that had a fabric backing and mod-podged it to craft foam (from Creatology, it was the perfect thickness!) and it worked out so well. Thank you for sharing your process and making this tutorial accessible -- I'm really grateful to have my own handmade Traveler's Notebook now! :)
Haha, I'm so glad! And thank you for being such an avid watcher of my stuff. :) I really appreciate it. As for all of the traveler's notebooks...I know how you feel! I have way too many and STILL don't know what to do with them! Haha. But you'll figure it out. I used one for my personal planner and such, and then another for more of an art journal kind of thing.
I used this cover for a couple of months and didn't have any issues; you just need to be sure to fully coat the foam to ensure the fabric stays on. I didn't use the mod podge on the seams, however. I used Fray Check to keep it from fraying.
Thank you for the tutorial ❤️ i will try this soon. But do you have any recommendation/ suggestion for the type of fabric? I’m just worried that the edges will fray.
Thanks so much for watching! I just use the inexpensive squares of fabric that you can find at the craft stores and Walmart. I think they might be cotton? The edges do indeed fray, so I use Fray Check to help with that. You can find a small bottle of it at craft stores, as well, in the sewing section. I haven't tried any other type of fabric yet.
It's actually been very durable! I was fearful of the holes in the spine tearing, but I was using it for months and had no trouble at all. :) You should totally try it. It's a very inexpensive alternative to the actual Midori covers and you can use whatever fabric design you want.
Thanks so much! I thiiiiink I found it at Michael's. It was a few months ago, though. I've managed to find some really cute patterns there, A.C. Moore, Jo-Ann's and even Walmart!
Hi! Thank you for watching. I do not have the measurements for this because I simply eyeballed the size of the cover to fit the inserts I had wanted to use it with (which were from Dollar Tree). That's the beauty of making your own cover if you don't have the usual sized Midori inserts! :) I find that this is a lot cheaper and I can customize my journals any way that I like.
This is the most useful journal tutorial on TH-cam
Wow, thank you! ^_^

Did you experience any fraying with this after daily use? 😍😍 I loved this tutorial.
Thank you! I only used it for a couple of months and it was fine. But also, putting Fray Check on the edges helps.
I have just found your channel, I enjoyed your tutorial thank you so much would mod podge on the fabric cover help eliminate fraying?
Thanks for watching! I've never tried using Mod Podge, so I'm not sure. But that's something you should definitely test out! You never know. :)
how does the modge poge hold up with the fabric? does it ted to fray after a while or come apart?

What is the tool you are using to make the holes?
It's called an awl. You can find it at any craft store, or in crafting aisles in some retail stores like Walmart.
I'm sorry, that's the wrong tool (although I just use the awl nowadays more)...it's actually an eyelet setter that I used to make the holes.
what templet?

Awsome! How durable is it? Want to try this!

nice
Hey! Love this tutorial, my favorite one! Where did you buy that mushroom fabric from?? I reallyyy love it!!

Very beautyful.
Please Can You Say Yo me The measures, of The Cover?
Ty

Can this be sewed on instead and can it be washed ?
It possibly could be sewn on; depends on how durable the craft foam is. But because it's foam, it probably couldn't be washed.
Measurements please ?
There are no measurements because it's supposed to work with whatever size notebooks you have. So, you measure around those.
You could also use "brads" to make it look professional! TFS
I tried this but my covers smell like mod podge like an overwhelming chemical smell that has yet to go away after a week 😂
