After a nice run at the FIBA OQT, this comes up in my algorithm. One of the legends of Filipino basketball. Loved the video. Would love to see the full interview!
His success started in the 90s which is probably the silver age of the PBA. It was an honor to be a fan of his 1996 grandslam and his player, every short kid's idol: smallest PBA MVP ever: Johnny Abarrientos
You have inspired me to start a youtube channel dedicated to basketball. I try to review sports training gear. Love your dedication to the knowledge of the game. Its great!
Hi Coach Nick! Coach Tim recently went to other team in the PBA. Can you please make a breakdown on the their process of learning the triangle. and the problems and the adjustments they made on their zone offense. thankyou!
BBALLBREAKDOWN Coach Nick i'm a big fan of yours and this interview is one of the best i've seen, two great coaches talking about the game that we all love. Btw, i'm a coach too and i'm studying Popovich sets and i try to mix in some horns there as well. Would love to be a successful coach someday. Keep us posted if you'll be having a clinic here in the Philippines!
I'm glad that BBallBreakdown reached the Philippines. Keep it up coach. Maybe one day we can watch a breakdown with one of the games here in the Philippines.
I wanna make a film one day that follows two college basketball programs. One is the perennial juggernaut of the major conferences and the nation as a whole, the other is a rebounding mid major from a bad rebuilding season the year before who becomes the perennial juggernaut of the mid majors. They both go undefeated and meet in the national championship. Both teams would receive equal treatment regarding screen time as we're following both stories. The main conflict between the two teams is with the major team, the immense pressure of living up to expectations due to their recruits and dealing with the media circus they draw, and with the mid major, dealing with being disrespected being called "not for real" for their status as mid major (it won't be outright stated, but it will be understood this is the reason why) and quieting detractors by winning. The main question I'm trying to ask: who would win? The nation's best team or the world's greatest mid-major? A big focus will be how both teams run, using actual offensive sets and defensive schemes Coach, your videos are amazing with teaching how to run an offensive set and using the smartest defense schemes, so these videos would be extremely helpful with teaching actors how to run sets. Thank you for these.
i was a big fan and still a big fan of Tim Cone, starded to watch the Alaska team with Johhny A, Jolas, Bong Hawkins, Poch Juinio, Jeff Cariaso, etc... Great mind, i wish i can coach and win championship like him.
Coach Nick, Tim Cone is now the head coach of the the Philippines men's team for the Asian games and is implementing the triangle offense. Hoping you could watch some games and do a breakdown
Brilliant video and awesome talk - especially on HOW to get players into an offence. Something I definitely agree more coaches need to do. The development aspect is often forgotten in major leagues, and that too often filters down into the "catchments" of high school/college basketball these days. A win driven system will always do that - but this shows you can have both if you have a good system. I don't know about you Coach, but when I played in the triangle, we never got many 3s out of it, except on weakside skip passes or the occasional kick out. Is that maybe why it's not played so much in the NBA today, where 3s are more valued than ever?
BBALLBREAKDOWN sports5.ph/home/pba - video library not extensive but they show live streaming games and keep the latest games Purefoods is the name of Tim Cones team now. If your going to do a breakdown of a PBA game - the team Ginebra is your best bet for most views. Very very VERY popular but a frustrated fan base because of the championship drought despite the talent. PBA advance stats - stats.humblebola.com/pba/stats_by_team
I love the love you're showing the Philippines Coach Nick lol! I'm a huge fan of the Purefoods Star Hotshots (formerly San Mig Super Coffee Mixers) and their game last night against the Alaska Aces was a great blowout win. They moved the ball really well ala Atlanta Hawks or San Antonio Spurs in certain possessions.
"... touched by the triangle" at 4:31. It's a new series on CBS that finally unites zealot spiritualists and geometry fanatics for what can only be described as ridiculous. XD
Woaaaaah i was caught off guard about this video... fast forward july 2024, tim cone and gilas pilipinas national team upset the worlds number 6 latvia using THE TRIANGLE OFFENSE
Coach, can you make videos on how to or tips about offense and defense strategy for amateur high-school / college basketball team? if not can anyone recommend videos/links about it?
Coach, why dont you analize euroleague teams and its team orientated bball, players like Teodosic, Marjanovic, Spanoulis, Diamantidis, Navarro, Rodriguez, Hezonja, Bogdanovic, Bjelica.Teams for example: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Cska Moscow, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Fenerbahce Istanbul, Crvena Zvezda Belgrade, Olympiakos Piraeus, Panathinaikos Athens
Just sent him a friend request! LOL! I want to be friends w/ this guy. In a non-creepy way lol. I'd like to message him and pick his brain more! I'm a triangle guy and I want to keep learning this offense. Coach Cone, accept! :)
PF_ Sports Back during his title runs. If you want to know about it, type in Michael Jordan hit Steve Kerr (that is the most famous one) and type in Michael Jordan hit Will Perdue (lesser known one it was confirmed by various sources and most recently by Horace Grant in an interview). The fact of the matter is Michael Jordan was NOT A NICE GUY! He was NOT A GREAT TEAMMATE! Just cause he was the best ever, doesn't mean he was the best at everything.
Since his name is CONE, we could say he surely is a SOLID TRIANGLE coach
Best joke hands down.
😂😂😂
Coach tim put volume in the triangle and made it a cone
Tim Cone, simply a genius in his chosen field of endeavor. He's got the brain, passion, charisma and the looks that commands respect!
HOLY SHIEEET! Coach Tim Cone on BBallBreakdown!!!

His success started in the 90s which is probably the silver age of the PBA. It was an honor to be a fan of his 1996 grandslam and his player, every short kid's idol: smallest PBA MVP ever: Johnny Abarrientos
Great stuff!! Coach Cone's team looks like they are very hard to guard! Everybody touches the ball and this helps build team chemistry!

It's year 2024 now, Coach Tim Cone still going strong with his triangle offense but with lots of variations now.
I believe Tim Cone have the credentials and skills to coach in a NBA team. would fit orlando or pistons perfectly.
Hey Coach Nick, where can we find the whole interview? It's been taken down it seems.

Coach, if I want to learn more of the fundamental of the triangle offense, is there any book you can recommend?
Don't know any book but maybe this can help you get started! thetriangleoffense.blogspot.nl/
You can order Tex Winter's book on Amazon
People at their core are visual learners. Unless his book has a visual aid you would be better off watching tape.
Just sent him a friend request! LOL! I want to be friends w/ this guy. In a non-creepy way lol. I'd like to message him and pick his brain more! I'm a triangle guy and I want to keep learning this offense. Coach Cone, accept! :)

Coach nick who is your favorite nba player of all time? My favorite all time is Larry Bird 🏀🏀🏀
PF_ Sports Michael Jeffrey Jordan
