I started sometimes jumping when I hit my forehand. My teacher doesn't like it. I love it. Don't know if I should tell him I do it cause I wanna look like Monfils.
It's not just athletic. Why don't we see other talented players do this? Because they gave up on plays too easily. This player has heart and hustles all the way.
honestly, we are desperate with him in France ... his game is fake, talented but not hardworking, he will never win anything other than « beach » tournaments
from a spectator point of view definitely Monfils and Brown are the most impressive and entertaining to watch; from their personal titles they are (wrongly imho) often considered "wasted talents"; I personally enjoy it very much when any of these two humiliate top tens as if it were child's play
People forget how good he is for the sport. I know people who aren't tennis fans but know at least some of these shots from Gael. Don't take him for granted.
His ability to hustle and get to the ball is SOO freaking awesome! I respect so much that he's not afraid to get tired putting in the work to get to some of those shots!
Translation : And he wins these points not against players in the top 400, but versus the best, third best, or sixth best players in the world. Hats off for Mr. Monfils. Thank you for playing tennis.
I’m screaming along with the crowd while in bed staring at my phone. This guy is amazing, idc that he hasn’t won a grand slam Bc he is already a legend!
Side note I’m not a tennis fan* BUT he made me a tennis fan! Omg now I can keep up with this and I see the sport evolving into something that HAS to be payed attention too. He’s is the definition of talent
HE IS AMAAAAZING!!! I can't help but laugh with satisfaction when I see his incredibly entertaining & impossible comebacks!! What athletic style & skill!!
There qre so many impossible moments in this video jt's almost criminal. Since he can't get a grand slam, can he be the recipient of like an honorary tennis doctorate from a top university because...WOW! Dr. Monfils...
I like the way he shouts after his winning shot...this shows his dedication n love towards the game.. doesn't matter how many cups he has owned... because he n the entire crowd have enjoyed to see these shots..👍👍👍
One of the few professional players who remembers, we watch this for yes the intense competition and professionals doing their sport at high levels but also we watch for entertainment and fun. It's not a bad thing to throw in 10% showmanship 😂
Cricket fans can relate to this; Monflis has the same flair as the West Indian batsmen used to have back in the day. The jump, the racket swing, absolute treat for the eyes.
Ladies and gentlemen! How interesting when we all can witness the way Monfils executes the game of Tennis. I guess just let it be. And then, one day there will be a man absolutely dismantle his style and techniques. Monfils is so-called an incredible player upon all the legitimate professionals. Right on!
How do you know he wasn't serious? He was top 10 for a long time, won titles, made millions, and loves to have fun while playing. How many titles did other "serious" players outside the big four win? His was a hard era to win a title in. Stop the unfair criticism.
@@DamaniDanDadar Well he said himself that he was asking his friends to cook junk food for him and prefered to stay home on the playstation than go to the kine when he was injured. What else do you need ?
@@0innerself0 I've heard Verdasco give interviews about clubbing instead of trraining while dating Ivanovic. Ivo Karlovic for a long time only spent time at the beach before tournaments with no training. Players occasionally let themselves go...but I don't hear them get criticized as much. Marcelo Rios even did worse. Back to my question though... how many grand slams did the more "serious harder-working" players in the era of the big three end up winning? In fact, how many of us average Joes really try as hard as our coworkers or neighbors? And who compares and criticizes us?
You must be young, because to say Gael Monfils is by far the greatest showman in tennis history, is pretty disrespectful to Jimmy Connors. NOBODY worked a crowd like him.
Great video! Though, I miss 2: - jump at base line, striking the ball very hard with french commentators who say like “au cout tu min tampes” (I don’t speak french, but it sounded like that) - loses his balance and falls, but from the ground makes the winning shot with a left hander
Tennis teachers : keep your feet on the ground when you hit the ball

Besides almost everybody doesn’t win a grand slam anyways
Agree!!!!
Agreed! The best out there. It pains me to be a woman because I WISH I could do what those two can.
People forget how good he is for the sport. I know people who aren't tennis fans but know at least some of these shots from Gael. Don't take him for granted.
👏 👏
True story here, don't wacht anny tennis. And here I am watching to the end 🔥
He plays basketball, tennis and badminton all at the same time.❤️
''Why do it the simple way?''
That's the perfect way to describe Monfils.
Everyone does that way.😂
Monfils: I walk a higher path😉
it doesn't matter if he hasnt won any grand slam, I always watch when he is playing.
His ability to hustle and get to the ball is SOO freaking awesome!

my knees are killing me just watching this
Yah I think I pulled a hammy just watching this😂
That last shot is just straight up ART. A shot only Monfils could think of and accomplish.
His play style is a fight that never gives up.
Honestly one of the best tennis player ive seen and probably the most entertaining 👌👌

Maybe not Arsenal, but I get your point 👌🏻
So your telling me arsenal play some good football? Lmao

That's funny, as an Aussie, I always see him as a tennis version of Naitanui (plays for West Coast, same energy, comes from Fiji). Aussie Rules Footy.
@MUFC What is the point of saying any of this. I'm a fan of both sports, both are great. Why brag that soccer is the best?

The 3 points at 3:47 were my favorit points. The screams at the end of this amazing points just gave me goosebumps.
Very much like a prize fighter in the late rounds going for the knockout
Forehand at 3:32 is a thing of beauty. So nonchalant yet so brutal
Coolest things about Monfils is that his highlight reel not only consists of points that he won.
I've been watching and playing tennis since I was 3. I'm now in my my 40's. I've never seen this shot @ 12:56 on any court .The guy is special.
