I am from Burnsville, North Carolina. I have been living in Turkey for many years... and your songs burn my heart. You have brought me back to life. I know it is meaningless words on youtube...But your music has meant so much to me... These are my grandmothers words sung back to me across ages... don't stop what you are doing. please.
This should be an advertisement for the Deering Goodtime series of banjos. To play such a nice recording with such an affordable banjo says something. Love the song.
Your rendition is something I've not seen on YT before. This is a perfect example of taking a tune and making it your own. How creative can one person be! I absolutely love it. Thank you for posting.
3:49 seconds of pure perfection! I absolutely never get tired of this version of this song. What a well crafted arrangement you have created. Every time I listen to you play, I want to race home to grab my banjo because you inspire me. Thank you for all the lovely videos you make and post. I adore them all.
Meredith does the best rendition of "Darlin Cory" of ANYONE EVER..Her voice gives it that haunting applatchin sound, that only the locals do..and almost never in public.
@@ahausman1000 I disagree.Seeger never saw a hard day or real suffering in his life.. He came from a wealth family in Midtown Manhattan and was a card carrying Communist: "I still call myself a communist, because communism is no more what Russia made of it than Christianity is what the churches make of it." (1995 interview)~Pete Seeger.. No sir, you hear, if you bother to listen, something very different in Meredith's voice, and all of her music. You have to know anguish and suffering to deliver like she does. You hear it in Appalachia (I lived there and played for 5 years!) Seeger tried to mimic something he knew nothing about, but proposed to. It got him noticed...Massive ego! One of the reasons he found working difficult.
Yuor music is so wonderful. I only started to play at covid lock down I am old and retired. I only wish that I will be able tply and sing a quarter as well as you when Jesus takes me home Please don;t stop playing.
Like Father, like Daughter! Meredith, you're like a shot of B-12. I appreciate so much youre keeping folk music alive and staying true to it. Your claw hammer banjo is amazing and your singing abilities top the whole thing off. You've given such an array of hope to music today. Thank you so much for posting your work and staying so true. You can definitely add my name to your list of fans! Please don't stop.
I agree with Johnathan, I love Meredith's music, haunting Appalachian style. I hadn't played my banjo for months. After hearing Meredith I play it every day now. Thanks for the inspiration.
Your whole like mysterious banjo gypsy vibe with the finger tats and banjo charms and the boots is fantastic. Not to mention the way you absolutely shred. I’m inspired frankly.
So fantastic. That banjo has absorbed so much Time. Effort. Sweat. And it just pours back out. Sometimes I hear a banjo player and it gives me hope I'll get it. And sometimes I hear one that takes that hope away. Then sometimes that middle porridge it is. Never ever will my feet do that though! They won't even tap right, let alone banjo dance. Thank you!
I really love your style of playing on the banjo, I started playing clawhammer about a year and half ago, after messing around about with Scruggs style and not really getting anywhere, I prefer clawhammer anyway and so glad I started learning it, hopefully one day I'll get to play as smooth as you do, cheers

Thanks Meredith for this perfect example of the dark beauty in traditional music. It sends chills up my spine.
Singing and playing from the heart. Deeply honest. Highly talented. Transcendent.

Lovely...but Pete Seeger's early recording is beautiful and haunting.

Absolutely stunning! the banjo makes my soul sing, and Meredith makes it sing like nobody's business..
It's impressive she can keep the timing so well in all three modes and between two different cadences

I can't think of any instrument that penetrates the soul in the same way a mournful banjo can.
