Every few months i need to come back and listen to you play this song, take in your voice and your incomparable claw-hammer banjo playing. The scenery is wonderful too and reminds me of the trip my wife and i took in 2022 to Cape Breton Highlands National Park. i know it is not there but the North Atlantic headlands are beautiful wherever you were in Newfoundland. Maybe someday i will get all the way up there but it will have to be alone. My wife passed away in February so i have to cherish the memories, and listening to beautiful sad songs helps.
@@meredithmoon Thanks so much Meredith. I would love to see you live sometime, but i don't know if you ever come all the way down to Baltimore in the US. Guess i need to travel north again. You make me want to put down my guitar for awhile and try the banjo.
@@PeterMurr-sl9gu I'll be there eventually. Got some Northeastern States shows booked for the fall... they'll be on my website meredithmoon.com - you can also sign up for the "bandsintown" alerts to get a notification when I book one near you. Hope you can make it out sometime too! And I encourage anyone to try the banjo. It is great fun. Cheers!
Great tune well played , Ayr is beautiful on a nice summers night looking over to Arran and Alisa Craig. Hope you put up more Scottish tunes for the banjo.🤩👍
Bautiful haunting playing and singing as always. Great setting too. I think your banjo has seen so much service now that it's looking v "vintage" and a lovely (and obviously loved) instrument!. :)
I recently bought a banjo and have begun taking Scruggs style lessons. However, after listening to you play and sing, I may need rethink that decision and move to clawhammer style. I love the way you play, your style, and your voice.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written, in my opinion. Also, every time I see a new part of Canada, I become more enamoured with that country. A few questions: 1) Are you playing in double C? 2) Will you post a tutorial on this song? 3) Will you include it in an album at one point?
Just curious do you play your banjo Scruggs style also? The position you play with frailing style, and notice the heavy use marks further back on the head more like you would have with Scruggs style. Enjoy your playing thank you!
Nope! Only clawhammer from this guy. I'm getting more into kentucky two-finger though, these days, but not at the time of thos video. Thanks and cheers!
@@meredithmoon I've recently moved to Kentucky so if you ever travel down this way to work on your two-finger skills, please let us know where we might come see you!
If I am not mistaken it is a Deering Goodtime banjo, I have the same model. You can recognize it by the engraved "Goodtime" in the headstock. I'm so sorry for your loss, Peter, and I'm happy to hear that this song brings you comfort. Best wishes to you. M

12D3 Hello ,,Yes she is in gCGCD . WHat a beautiful voice ...
Could you do a how-to for your version of this song? It is quite beautiful, and I would love to learn it how you play it.
That would be really helpful for me too! 😊
It's in double c tuning. You can work it out knowing that.
Newfoundland !
Nice

When are you coming back :) !!!
Très beau paysage côtier de terre-neuve qui me rappelle ma gaspésie.
Beautiful !! sorry what are the chords you're playing ?
Newfoundland - near to Ireland and Scotland so - in more ways than one - YIPPEE !!!
❤
Que me dera tocar o meu banjo como tu tocas o teu...
How much for a tab/lesson of this

What type of banjo are you using here? it sounds majestic.
It's a Deering Goodtime that she added a scoop to.
but also, she's just really good.
💙🐦⬛💙
What kind of strings do you use on your Goodtime?
What is this style called?
Is this standard tuning?
Merissa Fenton I think she is tuned in double C... gCGCD... I could be wrong tho...
Is that a heavily modified Deering Goodtime?
MitchMb14 looks burned on the head
MitchMb14 just the word “Americana” covered up
Tuning?
Just plain old double c
The video freezes at around 20 sec. Also throughout the whole thing. Could you re-upload ? :) Thanks!
plain speaking
I want to buy your cd
Tbut155 Thanks! You can purchase it at meredithmoon.bandcamp.com
Nice!
