I mean, he was thinking abt it, but he didn’t want to do that, and technically, he already did that with Baiheng, that’s why Bailu exists, and why he was so heartbroken about the Quintet’s decision, everything that happened, and Mimi’s departure.
Dude had to deal with so much is such a short amount of time, and some of the stress got to him. (Lingsha basically says it when we talk to her in the 2.4 quest, since she was banished with her master due to it.)
Dude has had a rough life as the general of the Loufu, but is somehow the longest running general of the Loufu, so that’s also a merit of his strength, and now, he’s teaching fu xuan, and Yanqing to take over his place, so he’s almost already gone full circle back to when he was first trained by Jingliu.
He’s most likely going to die in the next couple of patches, since his time is almost up, we just don’t know when, but I do have a feeling it might be coming, maybe not the the next 5 patches, but I feel like it’s an eventuality.

Everyday his owner would go to work by train and Hachiko would follow him to the train station and wait in the train station until his owner returned from work. One day his owner died at work, Hachiko didn't know this so he waited and waited for his owner for more than 9 years until Hachiko finally passed away.
He has a statue in Shibuya Train station to commemorate his loyalty.
