I had a friend do the exact same thing you're doing. He worked a 2 week on 2 week off shift and over the course of a little over a year he spent 2 weeks in every province and territory. Its a cool idea, I hope ya enjoy it 👍
Thanks! That was so much easier than I thought it would be; now my trip halfway across the country is gonna be so much cheaper and more comfortable lol ❤
You can do this without removing the rear seats just place boards perpendicular to the seats and level it with legs. Takes much less time and less material.
but you gain a ton of storage space having the seats removed. If there is a time constraint of getting it done quickly i'd do the way you are talking about
@IdRatherBeHiking Gotcha. Yeah that definitely does make sense, I didn't think about that as I usually use my setup for shorter trips where I don't need to pack excessively
@@redmenace5552 I had someone mention that to me and ya you really get a lot of storage where the seats exist, just depends how much you want to commit to the build.

doesn't it feel like sleeping in a coffin though, with the bed up that high? that would freak me out...only having about 18" or so because of the high platform and low ceiling of the car....I'm going to plan on figuring out a way to get a comfy mattress, etc as low to the floor as I can to be able to sit up,etc....I know the whole leveling thing will present challenges but there are ways...
I cover this in my update video but basically it only felt like a coffin if it was really hot outside. In moab 42 degree C heat ... yes it was horrible. In cold environments like washington it was very cozy. In general it was fine. To combat this I rebuilt the bed to be 3 or 4 inches lower and am making a new set of screens to allow better airflow.
FIXED. The solution was not yanking. The issue was that the seat was not slid into it’s furthest-back position. That is a critical step, in case anyone else was having the same problem. You must pull up on the bar under the front of the seat, and slide it as far back as it goes. Only then, will pulling the loop will release the back of the seat 👍 (2010 CRV)

“What you’re going to need is one of these dohickies with the right thingamajiggy attached to it.” Love it!😂
You never showed the finished product? I'm living out of my CRV. This has been very helpful.
I have a build video and an update here: th-cam.com/video/ViEHd_Ke5ms/w-d-xo.html

Thing-a-ma-bob? Doohookie? Love it!!!
I definitely know the names of my tools!
Looks good. You’re doing a great job
You are a legend - took me forever to work out how to lift up the back seat. AAA+++
I am going to try to remove the back seat of my Honda CRV 2020. Will see if this works for that. Thank you for sharing.
Did it work?
What year is your car please?
This is a great idea. I just want room for my XL size dog and cats while traveling. I do not need the bed part. Just to remove seats.
I really enjoyed your video.

Thanks for the inspiration to build out my CRV into a camper though!!

@IdRatherBeHiking Exactly. I really wanted to keep the seats in the car so this was a no brainer. Literally just plops in and out of the trunk.
Thanks for that video , how long is you bed ?
I'm 5'11.5 and its a tiny bit longer than me
Queue the A-Team theme music.
haha right on
I'm at the stage just removed bolts and the seat belts still attached ????
Same vehicle or no? Seat belts were a part of the seats on mine.
Doing good 👍
It's 2x8
Can seats come off on a 2013 crv?
Im not sure they changed the crv from 2012 to 2013
OMG why did they make it so HARD. My Subaru did not need tools to get the seats out.
😮
Holy fuck bud there bolts fucking bolts commen sense lol

Which year CR-V is this?
2009
Ah yes, Doohickeys and Thingamajigs
So I ask for a doohickey and a thingamajig at the hardware store. Got it.
Exactly, they'll know what to get for you.
What year?
2009

Hi, may i know how tall are you? I would like to do the same.
5 foot 11.5 inches tall
@@IdRatherBeHiking thank you!
Good Lord why so many ads on your vids
I think its because I only have a handful of videos that are in the algorthm and this is one of them. I don't choose how many ads are played sorry
Pulling the loop back is not releasing the seat
Gotta YANK IT might be stuck

Your video is informative but damn as a mechanic are you clueless to the names of the things youre working with/on lol
I 100% am
Thanks for the video , how long is you bed ?
I'm just a bit taller than my bed. I'm 5'11 so its probably 5'9
