- On this episode we're back with our AWD Acura RSX Project, we brought it to bradenton motorsports park to shake down the new 2.2L Destroked K24 built by Jay Meagher. Rob aka Greengo tuned worked his magic on the tune and the car was super impressive off the trailer... until things took a turn. needless to say it was an emotional roller coaster of a night, but we're ready to keep on pushing the RSX even further! Definitely my favorite build so far on this channel. The rsx platform will always be my favorite of all Honda aside from the S2k and nsx!

I understand taking off an air filter to squeeze out some more power but a turbo guard? Isn’t that pretty much free flowing right off the bat? Damn man I was really looking forward to a high 8 second pass in this video. Oh well fix it and come back stronger than ever good luck!!!!
Turbo guard is MUCH more restrictive than a filter. You’re efficiency blocking 15% of the front of the turbo with the fine mesh guard. And 22% with the wider spread ones. Whereas a filter has much much more surface area. Weird I know. But how it works.

All the shit that gets sucked into the turbo eventually makes its way through the IC and ends up in the cylinders. If you're unlucky, said shit then gets grinded up and makes its way through the piston rings and into the oil, and eventually into crankshaft bearings and other fun stuff.
It makes sense for world record runs and before complete rebuilds, but for random test hits it seems a bit R-word.

This is my dream build down to the de-stroked k series and AWD set up, so jealous of your amazing project!
I have never owned a Honda but ever since the AWD conversions became well understood I have wanted an RSX like yours. I helped a friend build a 800hp b series integra back in the day and it would spin in 4th on street tires, but with AWD it would have been a serious weapon (I was driving a built 02 wrx at the time, I love AWD cars).

Awwwwww!!!! Super bummer!!! All the reason to use a turbo guard. Has save mine more than a few times with misc sockets, hoses, etc!!! I would absolutely clear the intercooler, all the piping, and inspect under valve cover and flush the oil/filter.
I’m not a huge Honda fan but I’ve been waiting for more of this one! and wouldn’t mind seeing some more of your gtr! Hopefully no fin’s made it right through! biggest bummer apart from the expense is cleaning out the intercooler 😢

When yall replace the turbo, why not remove the ex manifold and reorient the turbine flange to face turbo inlet towards the ram air scoop.
I think the classic turbo intake on the hood would be a nice touch. Great job on the build can't wait to see those times come down. "classic turbo intake!"

Quick question, back on the stock A2 with that manifold. What did you do as far as relocating/rerouting of the wiring harness and coolant lines,etc between the block and firewall?

Why mess around with a 68 or 72mm compressor wheels? Man up, let your nuts hang low, and get an 82 or 86mm compressor wheel? Seriously, please, NO hood scoop or anything. Duct the intake off that driver's side headlight. Work with the piping and make the necessary cuts, bends, and welds to route it over to the intake and have a section just behind the headlight that you can remove and put a filter on then when you go to the track remove the filter and plumb it straight off the headlight intake.

I vote a hood scoop to feed the turbo some fresh air. The headlight isnt all that functional even though it looks pretty cool, but the hood scoop just seems like less hassle and leaves more space in the engine bay

Guys, you need to tear that engine down; half the turbo just went through the engine. You cannot just slap a new turbo on it. And for the love of god, when you do, put a Turboguard on it. $100 to save you $10k.

A car , not a scooter ??? Don’t follow. I’m. 43 not 18 or 23. Building a car like this is for young adults. Nothing cool about a 43yr old in Honda racing kids. That’s what my comment aims at, for me. I have plenty of vehicles. I don’t have a race car. Not that I would want one. Priorities, kids , assets.

Plus I didnt know kids could afford afford to modify a 950 HP RSX plus have another car on top of that because this would be a bish to daily drive and a money pit to maintain. Honda racing kid’s can’t compare they only have a little cheap exhaust and an intake… Real car enthusiasts will be able to tell the difference…
