This game is a Halloween tradition of mine. Playing it at night with all the lights turned off. It really sets the atmosphere perfectly.

I put this video on so much, I like to turn the volume way down low and play this while I go to sleep, it gives me the same feeling I had as a kid when I'd watch my older brother play it in our bedroom while I was cozied up on the bottom bunk.

Scooby's Mansion: Legend of the Dark Moon
(My idea for a Scooby-Doo game based on all three "Luigi's Mansion" games)
The ghost of mad scientist Professor Necros rises from dead, creates an army of ghosts, and kidnaps Mystery Inc in picture frames. Scooby gets help from friendly scientist Doctor Allison "Ally" Shepard who gifts Scooby with Ghost-Hunting equipment, and he goes to Necros' mansions to retrieve pieces of the legendary Dark Moon, rescue his friends, and save the world from supernatural terror
Luigi may seem like a coward but he’s really brave for saving his brother in spite of being afraid

I remember when I was 12 years old 14 years ago, my aunt bought this game for me from a nearby Target where she’d lived at before she and my cousin moved to Austin TX & I’d had Nintendo GameCube at the time. 14 years later, I remember being in love with playing this game 24/7.
It’ll soon be a year next month on Aug. 8th since she’d passed away from Breast Cancer.

The atmosphere in this is unmatched. It's so well done, and I doubt it can or will ever be replicated by nintendo

kinda crazy that “toad dropped the key in the toilet” is a plot point in a major installment in the nintendo series
Honestly, as great as Luigi's Mansion 3 was, Luigi's Mansion 1 has such a unsettling, disturbing vibe to it that just fills me with the best kind of dread possible. Maybe it's the music. Or the artstyle. Or the ghosts themselves. Maybe it's just the nostalgia for my days as an easily scared child.
One thing is for certain though, the sequel was the worst one.
3 doesn’t look good either tho and the reason Luigi’s mansion 1 had a creepy vibe was definitely the art style the new games look too colorful this game looks dark
2 was the first I played so DONT OFFEND THAT GAME EVER AGAIN or else I’m going to fard

The trick in this game is guarding coins and health.
The ending was sweet.😊 You really felt that sense of relief for rescuing his brother.

I played the LM games pretty much backwards. So I’m 80% through the first game only now. Boy o boy was this a glorious treat! The eerie-ness, the unnerving darkness, the suspense in discovering a new room, the very creepy looking humanoid-ghosts, which, cos of GameCube graphics, are all slightly blurry which adds to their untold mystery. I loved 2 and 3 but by God, this game is truly special.

This was one of the games I never played when the GameCune was new. I recently (finally) got it and damn, this is easily one of the most unique games I've ever played, and it's so packed with personality and charm. One of the best GameCube games for sure.
I bought this game around 2003 when I got my first GameCube I literally just picked it because it had Mario’s brother on the front and looked creepy as hell! This game did legit scare me as a kid. Classic.
I sometimes forget I'm still basically a child because this game is older than me

I used to love going round to my Nan & Grandads on the weekends. To play on my uncles old gamecube that he left before moving out. This game & Super Mario Sunshine provided hours of fun & memories I’ll never forget. Simpler times man, simpler times…

Can we all take a second to admire how amazing the OST for this game is? I don’t know why but I love the victory music that plays whenever Luigi defeats a boss ghost and also the music jingle whenever you get a key after defeating them. I also want to shout out the music that plays when you turn the ghosts you capture into portraits.

This game brings back a lot of memories when I used to play it a lot as a kid. Although, quite scary, I still had fun playing it and would always get hyped when fighting the ghosts!
Once in a meantime chilling I love watching my old nostalgia I just love it and it's for some reason for me fun to watch.

I disagree, I personally think LM3 is the best. Not to say that this is bad at all, in fact it’s one of my favourite games but in my opinion it isn’t the best out of the series

Just replayed this game this morning. This game was a big part of my childhood of me when I was little and grew up with the gamecube. I recall this was one of the first gamecube games I played. I remember finding this game scary and hard when I was a kid but managed to beat it. As an adult this game is still a classic and one of the best gamecube games after 20 years.

imo this is by far the creepiest luigis mansion game out there. when i played this i got jumpscared so many times 😭 but i think this one is the best because of the eerie silence throughout the game unlike the other luigis mansion where theres always music- and in the dark rooms the music is so spooky. also i feel like the ghosts in this game are the best, theyre just so creepy compared to the other ones. this one definitely captured the creepiness the best

When you vacuum you should try opposite direction (which obviously you know) then hold and wiggle. Much faster, also there's a mechanic for the vacuum after a few rounds of the entire game that it gets an unseen upgrade, vacuums so much more and quicker.

Between the this sound effects, the voices, the music, (especially the music) the colors such as the dark tones and less brightly colored things, this game was one of its kind for anything Mario related I mean, the opening is like just odd and the constant thunder and lighting with no music , I mean this game just really captured what a spooky game meant
I will never get over the strange hump Luigi does when he inspects objects. Also, I HATE when the Boos go in and out of rooms😢

Absolutely no shade to number 2 and 3 but the original is the one I desperately need on the switch. The ghosts in this one freaked me out and were so intriguing. The 2nd and 3rd just toned the scare factor down a little...

I remember back when this first advertised in the early 2000s and how mad I used to be that I didn't own a Gamecube at the time. I had a Playstation, so I couldn't complain, but I had my heart set on playing this game someday. It seemed like one of the most unique things Nintendo could have ever done with one of their characters. Now as an adult who owns a Switch, I played through the newest game (Luigi's Mansion 3) and loved every second of it!

This and RE4 were the very first games I’ve ever beat on GameCube as a kid, it took months and I was scared asl but I got through them. Games like these had soul, from the music to the energy it brings into your atmosphere while playing, these few moments of my terrible childhood are to cry for. I miss when games weren’t just cash grabs.

I don’t know why, but this is actually scary. We don’t know what Mario is experiencing inside that painting, Luigi is breaking into a house with living ghosts, yet still amazing because of the atmosphere and the liminality. Reminds me of my old houses I moved out of years ago.
