    Thanks Bud for your continued deep dive on the Homey Hub. I’m very interested in seeing where this is heading & if you will eventually move everything over to the Homey Hub. I’d hate to lose your input on SmartThings, but could be coaxed to change if this is a better future route to be on.

      Time will tell Dan. It will take me some time to evaluate whether it is worth the effort and time to make the switch.

    definitely be interested in video showing how setup sharp tools or any video on dashboards. My one biggest issue with homey is lack of documentation and assumptions on technical programming/script knowledge.

    Thanks for the continued homey pro videos. I've been looking at it for a while. Been with smartthings for 5+ years and things just don't seem to be evolving. Been checking homey out for a while. Trying to justify the $400 price tag.

      I totally get where you're coming from. Homey Pro does offer some exciting features, but the $400 price tag can be a definite hurdle.

    Hi, how we control the Homey outside the house and what happens if the Homey company goes down? Does this Smart Home System rely only on the Cloud? Keep up with those videos!

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello dimitrios.
      Regarding control away from home, Homey is controlled by the Homey smart phone app over a cellular or Wi-Fi connection when outside the home.
      If Athom, the company that owns Homey goes down, so does the app, just like any other smart home app, save Home Assistant, which is 100% local.
      Regarding cloud reliance, Homey states that their hub is local, but in truth you need the cloud to periodically download an access token. I believe that this access token is downloaded once every 14 days. Also, any Homey app that requires you to make an account and log in before you can control the device, you can assume it uses a cloud service. The information provided on the Homey will usually will tell you whether the app works locally or not. All of the above applies to Wi-Fi devices. If a device uses a protocol like Zigbee, Z-Wave or Bluetooth and the device work without an additional hub, then these devices work locally.

    Hello Bud, Thanks for a great video!
    Thank you for telling us about the Homey Community Store. However, I'm having trouble installing the app for this. I followed your link and then the instructions. At some point it takes me to a screen that says "Could not automatically log you in. Please copy & paste the code below in the command-line." And then there is a long string of characters to copy and paste, such as 8c676f126b3432c33345650e03834b25fe20bcff. But I don't know where to paste this code in the "command-line."
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again!

      Instructions for installing the HCS are here: th-cam.com/video/r_pBOzPRU18/w-d-xo.html However, as of this reply, the Homey Community Space/Store appears to be down, (crashed) and the HCS will not install at this time. I'm not sure when this will be resolved.
      Here is a link where you can download the HCS Desktop app installer for Windows or Mac: homeycommunity.space/store

    Hi Bud. Always look forward to your expertise and it is appreciated. Regarding Smartthings I currently have my alarm connected to the Konnected alarm panel and monitored through Smartthings Home Monitor. If nothing else I assumed I would still need to run Smartthings hub for that alone, but when you mentioned Smartthings 2 app in Homey now I am wondering if I would actually be able to transfer that also and monitor alarm? Do you find Homey Pro much faster in processing as when I hit a switch the lag to my devices is much less?

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I will cover the process for adding the Homey Community Space app in my very next video. The Homey Community Space app is needed to access the Homey Community Store (HCS). The HCS is needed to access the SmartThings 2 API interface. The problem with using an app that requires an access token to communicate with the Samsung SmartThings cloud is that you are likely to experience some level of latency. That said, I find that the performance of most of my ST devices within Homey are fairly good. But they are never going to be as responsive if they were directly installed on the Homey Pro hub.
      You will need to check with the Homey Community to see if the Konnected Alarm has any level of support in Homey. I do know that the App for the Ring Alarm Keypad offers very little in the way of features and functionality. here is a link to Homey Community Forum: community.homey.app/

    Hey Bud, been following your channel for a while now and I have a question for you. I have the Homey Pro and an Aeotec HubV3 with Alexa as my voice assistant. When I tried to integrate my Echos through the Amazon Alexa app in Homey i keep getting an error saying unsecured website and it won't allow me to sign into my Amazon account. I'm running Chrome for my browser. Just curious if you were having any issues on your end when you ran the app? Not really getting a lot of useful information from the community forum.

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Kevin, I have the same set up that you have but have no issues. When you set it up, are you sure that you selected the Amazon US server?

    • @kevinjackson9202
      @kevinjackson9202 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes sir, Amazon US checked. Perhaps I've got some firewall security blocking the site. I'll run through it again.

    You dont need virtual switches app. You can enable virtual devices in homey settings

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks Iam. I am aware of the Homey based virtual devices within the Homey app. For me, the switches generated from the "Experiments" tab had shortcomings, which I address in a future video. Particularly related to using them within third-party apps like the Alexa app. That's why I resorted to switches generated from the VD app. I address this issue in a upcoming video.
      Thanks for commenting 🙂

    Homey. like Hubitat, is terrible with cameras and thermostats. At that price it should be compatible with almost anything, but yet it's not ! As for Smart Things it is becoming less and less reliable ! I had yet another day of device offline device online device offline .... for the entire day. It was refusing to go back online with the LAN but was doing ot with wifi ???? The 3D room maping in ST is a running joke as even a 5 years old can respect dimensions more precisely than Samsung ! I dont where we are going with home automation, but it is not improving, but the opposite. Matter is still a trial and error thing and hubs are increasingly less reliable but more expensive ! What a mess they created !
