OMG. So clueless. Then justifying his win by his tactics rather than saying "we are witnessing something unprecedented". And maybe, "This kid has loads of talent."
This is one of the most phenomenal times I have ever seen-and Ive been following track for a long time. He is only 1.3 seconds off the all time HS 800 record by Michael Granville. Granville claims that Lutkenhaus will break that record easily-I understand he runs a 47.3 400 and a 22.2 200-both also phenomenal times but the 1:47 is out of this world good. It will be fun to watch and see if he can improve.
Cooper is a special talent. He had a fantastic tactical sense. He understands exactly when he needs to position himself to be able to unleash that monster finish. He was .03 off the meet record which is held by the AR holder, but he ran it when he was a senior. Believe it or not, he is .08 off the world age 15 record which is held by a Brit who has run 1:43. If he stays patient and healthy he will be a real contender for the national team in a few years.
