    He spent his last months, living in a posh London hotel. The day he was taken from there by ambulance to hospital, he shouted from his stretcher to people watching, 'IT WAS THE FOOD THAT DID IT''---Irish humour to the end.

      Irish humor has been known to get people through some hard times, perhaps it can even be an antidote to death. In Harris's case, I think even God would acknowledge and welcome this man's soul into eternal life.

    Apparently he was afraid he'd only be remembered as Dumbledore. My memory will always be "Macarthur Park". I was stunned the first time I heard it but thought it too long to be a hit.... little did I know it would give radio DJ's a chance to go to the toilet! The melodramatic and poetic nature of this song are completely in keeping with Harris.

    @connaught2008 Agreed. Theres no reason why the younger generations cant see his other films. Its easier than ever to watch classic films today. When I was a teen I watched everything from 60 years previous to current films. Todays teens seem only interested in films 10 years old or newer or their cell phones. Harris was worried about being only remembered for Dumbledore. Sadly he was correct.

    I will never be able to understand why so many people, guys mostly, listen to these guys breaking up their marriages, go on drug benders and be so deeply alcoholic that they have to go to the hospital for it several times a year and have their own families push them away and think they're godlier than Jesus Christ and Buddha combined. Harris was lucky, that's it. His drugs and fights could've ended his awesome life a hell of a lot earlier than it did and his life of riches and celebrity could've easily turned into him living under a bridge as a homeless bum.
    It's one thing to see this stuff and see the old celebrities who survived them as a thing of glory and adventure, but go try this stuff in real life and you'll quickly learn how terrifying and idiotic it really is. Go have a heart attack and failing organs when you're not a rich celebrity and see how glorious and adventurous it really is...

    • @FreGZile
      @FreGZile 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      totally agree, I think the glamorization of self destruction is a dangerous tendancy of the human being, and the confirmation bias that make theses talented people stand out is the cause of it all. How many alcoholic nobodies ruined their lives for one Richard Harris or Richard Burton?
