But yes, absolutely. I'm 27 y-o and I'm thrilled about the idea that this band's evolving art will be with me and us for such a long time, if they want it to be so! I mean, these guys are younger than me, and such quality used to come from musicians at least 30 or 40 years older than me! That means a lot, these guys are the chosen ones, the ones to take Rock one step further.

I am in your age bracket and I can appreciate where these guys are trying to go but the songs are really weak in my opinion. Nothing really sticks in your head. Pretty generic stuff. They are solid musicians but another negative for me are those Geddy Lee-like vocals. After not too long the vocals just get downright annoying. Sure it's still better than all of the lame pop and horrible rap that has been coming out for the last couple of decades but not something I would want for repeated listens.

    Lyrics
I can see the faces through the broken glass
    No longer pass
Looking at the sky, I see the city lights
    But no star fights
I never want to fall asleep
Within our dreams the weight we sow, we reap
Though I believe the sun still shines
And I believe there comes a time
When out of silence we will sing
And even broken bells will ring
Not all the answers are the same
Yet we still play thе game
Sweeping off the pavemеnt with a parlor broom
    Going nowhere soon
Between the cracks of sidewalk, there's a flower grown
    Beyond the stone
I never want to fall asleep
Within our dreams the weight we sow, we reap
Though I believe the sun still shines
And I believe there comes a time
When out of silence we will sing
And even broken bells will ring
Not all the answers are the same
Yet we still play the game
Yet we still play the game
When out of silence we will sing

I am a 70's and 80's rock guy. My playlist has very little "recent" rock. But my son saw GVF and turned me on to them. I have since been able to take my son and daughter to see them live. Their music...from the haunting vocals to the amazing guitar solo in this piece...transcends most modern music and takes the mind, body, and soul into a very rare and seldom seen emotional space. Long live Greta Van Fleet. Introduce them to a friend...I am sure the friend will thank you.

This new different style, different feel, is more sophisticated, more a piece of art, more beautiful than any other rock n roll song. It's deeply connected to what's happening in the world now. I can't comment on Heat Above bc I can't listen to it. These new songs are going in a specific direction. I wonder if all songs are going to be immensely deep?

Not only rock, but society on the whole needs them too. The state of rock is often an expression of the culture. Great rock, in the classic sense, is the expression of a striving & liberated soul and has been sorely missed, instead replaced by a rock that features a tormented and discontented soul. I hope the pendulum is swinging back.

You no longer need any kind of narcotics to give your daily worries, problems and sorrows a velvet like pillow to let them disappear behind a curtain of mist so they can fade into the background and rest for a while as you listen to the enchanting rock & roll by Greta van Fleet. What an inspiring day God must have had, and how his heart must have been beating like a double bass drum as he imagined this band so he could unleash them into our world. With this new record these guys have proven once again that well-crafted rock & roll never will die as it is the foundation of our musical earthly existence.

You can not make music like this by or as imitation. This is talent and musicianship. By the way, a gibson well played sounds like a gibson well played. A fender well played sounds like a fender well played. This guys vocals should be used in all his ability as he is showing here.. ANY FURTHER phony comparison is idiotic and takes zero account for skill, artistry, talent or the idea of one's self consciousness it takes to create music in general. This is not the modern day accepted trash performed on a computer with moans and groans instead of a musical vision. In closing, I hope in your life you were influenced and I hope you leave influence on others.

At the age of 6, huddled under my father's arm, I saw and heard for the first time "Pulse" by Pink Floyd and, like Saul on the road to Damascus, that concert was a shock to me. From that day on, the parable of my consecration to the world of music became more and more ascendant, to the point of fulfilling the dream of becoming a musician-composer myself.
The conditions in which today the musical panorama (especially the Italian one) finds me have progressively depressed and discouraged me so much as to make me reluctant even to enter into a discourse that focuses on music.
I'm happy that today, at 32, this band, born about a decade ago, has dramatically denied me, as I would have thought everything, but not that this music could live again.

I'm so sorry you're hurting. I lost my partner 15 months ago. There's no pain like grief and there's simply not enough words to convey how deeply it hurts. But as you mentioned wanting to share this with him and you can't. Sharing this with him is an act of love and the hardest part of losing someone to death is all that love you carry and can do nothing with. Or that's the hardest part for me. That love stays with us and builds up inside because we can't express and release. We have to carry it all and it keeps growing inside us with no expressing it and transforms the most unbearable pain. We never consider when we love so deeply that it becomes a monster when we can no longer do anything with it. Then there's the missing them and several other components of pain. I don't know about you but that's certainly been part of my grieving process. I just wanted to take the time to acknowledge your pain and let you know I get it. There's no pain is greater. People say they understand but until they feel it they know nothing of grief. I don't know how you're doing these days I didn't look at when you left the comment. I hope you're coping with the loss better. Grief never leaves us we just learn to live with it and carry it. I'd love to know how you're doing today. If you're not familiar with the chorus of their song the new day check out I think you'll find some validation in it. We need validation often on this journey. All of my love and deepest compassion from Louisiana ❤
