Not a fan of the music choice but the gameplay looks solid. A prince of persia side scroller (I'm going to guess it's a metroidvania style game?) with buttery smooth controls and that type of combat looks very promising.
I really hope it’s a metroidvania honestly but for some reason I feel like it’s not gonna be. Kinda just a normal 2D action platformer but this has big potential if it is a metroidvania

Definitely Nintendo inspires more welcoming party than other third party's community which always throw trash talk because of graphic-wise/ideas/concepts. People just keep living in the past, that's for sure.
Ambitious concepts and character design overhaul. The classic hack and slash game turned into typical monster hunter style combat or smash bros. It it wise that Ubisoft should stay away from copycat other game trends.
The protagonist which for 33 years has been depicted as tanned Persian with straight brown hair has been changed to some African american with hair that is currently hip with the black youth. Add some crappy rap music to it and graphics which would be outdated in 2008 and you have yourself a great time. Oh noes that's racist. If they really want to target "POC" why not make the prince look more Asian instead of changing another character to black?
Even for a trailer this music doesn't match. Imagine if capcom launches a RE4 trailer playing k-pop. The trailer should sell the game vibe, music is important, and for my taste this choice makes harder to connect

The game looks cool but yeah the presentation here is really out of place. The music is very much to blame for that IMO. Feels more like the new spiderman movie than prince of Persia.

@@BloodRedFox2008 PoP: WW is in my top 3 favorite games ever, and while I see how the argument of rock/metal being just as inappropriate for a Persian setting as rap can be made, the metal had middle-eastern tones and instruments in it. And Godsmack songs almost always played as instrumentals, which felt appropriate for the edgy setting of the game. I'm from middle east, btw and PoP: WW introduced me to metal and Godsmack, so I was not biased towards it.
Love the Prince of Persian franchise since playing on the SNES and getting killed all the time. I loved the sands of time games, was disappointed when they stopped making them for a bunch of Assassin's Creeds (some of those were good too). Happy to see it back, even though the game design looks out of place but will definitely get it! Hoping for the best.

Most people only know of the 3D PS2 era and beyond Prince of Persia, but the franchise actually predated those as sidescroller. The GB one was actually also a Metroidvania style so technically this is more "Prince of Persia" than some.of the later ones were.
I know about the side stroller games, but that doesn't have anything to do with my comment, This game and the old GB games pretty much just share a magical Arabian setting, and that seems to be it. Heck, according to the narration, you're not even playing as The Prince. It's obvious that their banking on nostalgia and expanding upon the older titles, using some element's introduced in later titles in this more "back to roots" feeling game, but I feel like this game works just as well, if not better, as a completely new IP separate from any series before it. Or maybe I'm just sick of Series Revivals and just want new stuff New IP or not, I'm picking this game up. This gameplay looks like amazing!

Why is it that when it's a trailer for anyone that isn't white, but also not black, the music is hip-hop? Just because they are ethnic doesn't mean they need rap to represent them. Trailers like Shang-Chi, Black Adam, Moon Knight, etc.
They canned the original project and changed developers after the bad press that one trailer, that was announced a handful of months ago. This game looks as if they recycled whatever that Ubisoft India studio made into a 2.5D Metroidvania instead of a 3D remake.
Music does not sound like Persia at all. Or arabic or orientalic… Game LOOKS good, but the music makes it seem like it was made for wannabe cool 13 years old… Hope that music is not in the game.
It’s not a bad music but a bad choice for this thematic. It feels like they are trying to reach for younger audiences, indeed. Maybe that’s the point. Teenagers might not get the appeal for this at first. Adults might have the nostalgia for earlier games in the franchise so they are probably already interested to see it.

The Fortnite comment was more about the overly cheery artstyle.

The remake has been announced years ago. They had to restart the development since they outsourced it giving the game to an Indian studio that made a disaster and we haven't seen anything yet.

The last Prince of Persia game I played and finished was a PS3 version. I can't remember much, but I think the design of the Prince was based on his movie counterpart.

Yeah I thought that game got dunked on harder than it should have. Sure it wasn't a classic like Sands of Time and lacked it's brilliant level and puzzle design - but it was still pretty fun.

Prince of Persia meets Michael B. Jordan ft. Jimmy Butler's haircut. Idk, but it's good to get PoP content considering how they disrespected the franchise since 2010. Imo they need to go back to either a complete reboot of the franchise or to the 2008 game's style which aged a lot better that the original 3d game. The humor in the 2008 was great, I mean carpets "this" thick! But yeah overall the PS2 game had such a cool art design once you entered the magical blue space. It's a franchise that deserves more love, and AAA titles. Not sidescrollers.

I'm a bit conflicted on this trailer. On one hand, it looks REALLY GOOD! This is the kind of gameplay I like. On the other, physical copy or no deal! I don't do digital games.

@@nolanpaten6113 The artstyle and haircuts make it seem like it's intended to lure in fortnite players. I don't know why Ubisoft can't just nail down a theme for PoP. It has to be the most schizophrenic franchise in terms of art direction. Everyone loved the charming yet flawed and relatable prince from Sands of Time but we got him in precisely one game. Remember the emo phase from Warrior Within? What is going on with this franchise?

@@Louis_Cyphriel You mean devolved. The classic DOS POP games had fluid, deliberate combat, precise platforming and was a challenging experience. This just looks like someone took Fortnite and made it 2D with a flashy combat system, and weird floaty platforming.

Bro back during the DOS days it was one of the first games to use fluid animation like that, its dated by today's standards sure but at the time, it was quite new and yes the jumping is precise, almost to a fault, like annoyingly pixel perfect. It was BS sometimes sure, but at least the challenge kept you invested in the game. This just feels like every modern 2D platformer out there. The Fortnite comment was more about the overly cheery artstyle.

The remake has been announced years ago. They had to restart the development since they outsourced it giving the game to an Indian studio that made a disaster and we haven't seen anything yet.

The last Prince of Persia game I played and finished was a PS3 version. I can't remember much, but I think the design of the Prince was based on his movie counterpart.
Wasn’t the best game, but I really wish 2008 prince would get some love too. It had some of the most beautiful visuals and unique plot. Super bad cliff hanger ending :/
Yeah I thought that game got dunked on harder than it should have. Sure it wasn't a classic like Sands of Time and lacked it's brilliant level and puzzle design - but it was still pretty fun.

Prince of Persia meets Michael B. Jordan ft. Jimmy Butler's haircut. Idk, but it's good to get PoP content considering how they disrespected the franchise since 2010. Imo they need to go back to either a complete reboot of the franchise or to the 2008 game's style which aged a lot better that the original 3d game. The humor in the 2008 was great, I mean carpets "this" thick! But yeah overall the PS2 game had such a cool art design once you entered the magical blue space. It's a franchise that deserves more love, and AAA titles. Not sidescrollers.
