Hi Taneka, congrats on opening your bridal shop! The closing process can vary from person to person but for the vast majority, you have to just ask for it! Help get them in the mindset and visualizing wearing the dress they love walking down the aisle surrounded by their family and friends and then just ask the big question!

Christine Ortiz you’re so welcome! So I invested around $12,000 to start- and honestly this was a pretty small Amount for an initial startup. I got really lucky with my space and that was a huge financial help. Most of the money spent went towards inventory and since opening Ive Invested an estimated $10,000, mostly in additional inventory. The average cost for a dress wholesale can really range depending on the designer. My pricepoints for retail are $1300-$2500 currently so the average for a wholesale dress is about $800. I did another video talking about buying/where to buy but I’d be happy to go more in depth!

Unpopular opinion but you dont necessarily need college to do this! Working and interning will do wonders for your career but if you do vo to college, business pr marketing is a great option. I went for apparel design but merchandising is also a great option

The owner was there for 35 years but she was ready to retire and she was having trouble managing the money and things. Did you get a loan? Pay cash? I want to get out of debt first from school loans and I have a family so I have to keep all of that in mind as well.

Hi! I actually did the alterations myself as I’m trained in that. However I would have been better off hiring someone just due to volume so if you’re able To hire someone or partner with an alterations company I’d highly recommend it

Hi! Sorry for the delay but I hope this helps! My suggestion would be to get at least 5-6 dresses in each style to start but if you.can afford more, go for it! I started with about 25 dresses and ove expanded since then and quite honestly, I could still use probably double that. Limiting your inventory will so limit what brides can try on and you want them to have lots of options to land that sale

Hi Shin! I do design and make some of the dresses, mostly through customer orders although that will be changing in the near future. I carry different bridal lines as well that get produced by their own manufacturing. If making the physical dress yourself is what you want to do, I would suggest either getting some education (school, apprenticeship, etc) or working with a factory to get your designs produced!
