The R129 is a Luxury car the r230 is a sports luxury car The r231 is a sports car.The repairs on the SL 55 Are More Expensive Way more expensive than your common SL! 5.80 to 60 is fine enough for me oh don't get me wrong I speed you have to have a radar detector the ride is so smooth. But the good thing is that 90% of these owners drive below the speed limit and they're all old man are all old woman! so you can get a pretty good car Bought for the weekends with low mileage! in the SL's do not age inside or out properly taking care of and there's a lot of those cars out there! I think you'll eventually have suspension problems it will cost you $2000 to fix unless your know a lot about cars! overall I'm in love with my SL still I go out and drive it just because I can!
@@gg2324 The E55 has Airmatic Suspension and SBC which are expensive things that can go wrong, the SL55 on the other hand has the roof as you stated as well as the SBC and ABC! ABC being hydraulic suspension, not air suspension and yes it's a fucking nightmare to maintain, I ripped it out of my CL 500 and put some coilovers on, best decision I ever made.
@@ukwan This true. How ever the SBC pump is covered under warranty in the USA for 20-25 years. Leaving you with the air struts, that could be bought from arbnott. The struts are easy to change compared to a traditional spring that might kill you when compressed down to reinstall lol. These cars are for the people who don’t kind getting they’re hands dirty. Learn to work on them yourself, and you’ll have a car that feels like a steal to own. 😂
I like the SL and I had a 107 with another ten or so Mercedes over the years, but selling a Ferrari and spending the money on this brand new... Ouch! That was not a good consumer choice!
Well if he had bought a Ferrari he would never have drive it like he did this one...I had a 360 new, 430, yet the one I still have after all these year is my 2003 SL55.

I love this Merc but the only reason I love it so much is because its performance is far superior than a 355 for a twentieth of the price. However, the 355 is my favorite car in the world ever. And let's me honest, nowadays you must be a complete idiot to trade in your 355 for a SL55 amg.
Had my black 55 for 3yrs. Love it to bits. 500 bhp metal roof convertible with massage seats which can warm you up or cool you down. M113 engine is bullet proof. Name me a better car for the same money ?!
I own one and love it and also sold my ferrari for my bentley no remorse ferrari was wonderful,,the AMG is a must for me!!!the perfect supercar more user friendly over ferrari as my bentley is!!! over my F1,,did my F1 thing my SL is for life!!!!
The slk is a hairdressers car, the 55 amg is insane, at the time it was the fastest convertible in the world and would give modern super cars a run for their money

Not really its a reasonable choice. You cant daily an old f355 but you can daily drive a sl55
I had a 355 20 years and it was the most unreliable car I have ever owned. Porsche and Mercs are generally better build quality
