- The rifle case is made from cherry and curly maple, lined with wool felt and uses standard briefcase hardware and barrel hinges. Case joined with half blind dovetails.

I'm going to make one for my old double barrel shotgun, and I will remember to make the lip that keeps the halves registered and the little blocks on the lid to hold the gun.

Very attractive case. I like he way you did the hinges, better than the piano hinge I put on my shotgun case. Well done.
I prefer the barrel hinges because they are not visible when the case is closed. Ken.

muy buen trabajo, pero creo que seria mejor que el fusil lo montaras al revés. me refiero que se abra por donde están las bisagras para que si te cae al suelo lo primero que golpee sea la madera del fusil y no la mira contra la caja.

I did not see anything holding the cleaning rod in place. The handle seemed to slip into a recess in the front guide but could it slide out during transport and rattle around? Maybe add a small block at the other end of the rod on a pivot so it could block longitudinal movement of the rod.
Hello, the handle of the cleaning rod is a good pressure fit, I have never had it come loose in transport.Ken

Its gorgeous. Is there a reason for not putting felt(?) on the lid of the small compartment? I would think youd get some rattling from there when transporting it around

Hello, the hinges are soss hinges available through Woodcraft. They are available in 10mm and 14mm. I used the 14mm..

Is the lip that aligns the two halves added later as you would making a humidor?
Yes, the internal lip that helps to keep the two half’s registered to each other is added after the case is sawn into two pieces.

Are those soft close brackets? Where’d you get them I can find a strut that works. Thx
Hello, no the bracket is not soft closing for a lid this size, the only soft closers that I have found to work on this size lids are the small hydraulic arms. Ken.
