What a great work .Every concerto of Prokofiev is tremendous both violin concerti at least 4 of the 5 piano and now I hear this immediately thoughtful ,engaging work played by this fine cellist ! Shostakovich,Khachat and Kabalevsky pale in comparison though Kabalevxky cello concerto no.2 is a fine work !
Lies! All the piano concerti are amazing, but 4 and 5 take a while to understand. Agree with the rest though! Wonderful performance and 2nd mvt cadenza.

This piece really stands out among Prokofiev's symphonic and concerto works. So beautiful and accessible. And here we have a great performance and a great recording of it.
@@imaramblins violin is just so thin. I think the violin is more versatile as an instrument, but i really do prefer the sound of the cello. Especially mid to high register on the a string.

I would like to know, how many musical quotes are in this work? I think, there is some Wagner in 25:13 (Götterdämmerung I guess). But there must be more. Romeo and Juliet?
Wonderful, must feel so disappointed when you nail 42 minutes of such demanding music and then screw up so much on last devilishly difficult 4 bars 42:25 .... Anyway awesome playing, I was speechless the whole time, but the ending really made me grin :D

You should hear brannon cho's most recent performance of this piece, its absolutely amazing in my opinion and his playing is practically perfect👍
