  • Differences between this run and the one done in 2016. First I used an Enya #3 plug in the first video vs the OS #8 in this one. Secondly I used 12.5% nitro fuel and the fuel used in the first video was not mentioned but most likely Omega 10%. I really do not think that I had the HSN peaked on that first video either.

Glad to see your back doing engine runs!

There's no big difference in RPM/trust readings, but the difference in sound is really noticeable, OS made a good job @ reducing noise sacrificing minimum in performance. SF series is maybe the longest lasting 2 stroke engine ever produced by OS.

Fine engine run , my favorite OS 2 stroke engine is the OS 40 FSR but both are great engines ! Those engines were manufactured in the day , when quality was very important , not price ! Keep up the good work!

Nice run Dave. I did the same test with an Irvine 53 many years ago and noticed an 800-ish increase in rpm w/o the baffle but it was also noticeably louder.

    Great comparison run!
I just checked out the previous run and it looks like the HSN was not peaked and set very rich. Theory is the battle removal let the engine breathe better, and therefore run more lean. In the previous video it was running plenty rich so the gain was massive. In this video it was already peaked out so no more leaning possible, as evidenced by having to re-tune after baffle removal.
I'm open to "alternate facts" anyone!🤣

To my untrained ears the no baffle run had sharper and more objectionable tones. On a side note when when you were removing the baffle, I was waiting for you to say "one needs to be impervious to pain" in dealing with hot parts.

I have a Thunder Tiger Pro .46 that I ran both ways. I thought it was easier to tune with the baffle in. I can't really say that I was doing it right though.

Hi Tiger, is he a super tiger? Ha. Damn good video Dave. Very interesting. I wonder that the difference in db readings are?

Audibly I really couldn't tell much difference.

Do you think there would be a bigger change in a bigger engine. I have a magnum 61 2 stroke and im curious if the change would be greater.

With the baffle out there was less muffler pressure and the engine needed to be a click or two richer. Also the sound without the baffle was louder and more harsh.

Dave, I like the servo and controller setup you are using, where did you get the rotary controller?

im gonna try a comparison run maybe later or over the weekend with a os,50 fsr and a magnum 52, blue head 2 stroke. never seen any runs with a magnum 52.

I have a really nice 50 FSR a friend gave to me. I need to pull it out and run it again too.
